@andrewwilson9123

This is the Scotch Gambit from an Italian game move order (e4 e5 Nf3 Nc6 Bc4 Nf6 d4, exd4 and we are in the mainline Scotch Gambit position). The same position can occur from a number of different move orders. Interestingly enough, the way the video advocates for is the Max Lange Attack/Deutz Gambit not the Scotch Gambit
@ChessSurface1
@ChessSurface1 27 күн бұрын
@@andrewwilson9123 Yeah Yeah but what if Black plays Bc5 first? Thats not scotch gambit, and even if we play d4 THAT IS NOT SCOTCH GAMBIT MAN... Black can play Nxe4 while there is no option of Nxe4 in the main line as No knight is on f6...!
@andrewwilson9123
@andrewwilson9123 26 күн бұрын
@@ChessSurface1 Agreed. Against Bc5, it's much better to play something like the Evans than try for transpositions to the Max Lange. That being said, instead of the horrible 4.d4, we can try 4.O-O, where the most common move, Nf6 leads into the Deutz Gambit after 5.d4, and we reach a very similar position to the video (important to note that in this move order, black can take with the bishop, so it's not exactly the same)
@Rechnerstrom
@Rechnerstrom 23 күн бұрын
Very nice but do 1700-1900 really not know the opening theory? I'm maybe 1500 over the board, I am not active for maybe 30 years and I do know the theory. In the first line 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Nf6 4. d4 exd4 5. 0-0 Nxe4 (this is totally playable) 6. Re1 d5 7. Bxd5 Qxd5 8. Nc3 Qa5 9. Ncxe4 Be6 is more than century old theory. Black castles queenside and pawnstorms the white king. For instance 10. Neg5 0-0-0 11. Nxe6 fxe6 12. Rxe6 h6 with the plan g5. Black has a good game and a straightforward plan. Here 10. Bg5?! to prevent castling would be bad because that just helps Black to accerelate his plan. 10...h6 11. Bh4 g5!? (the computer likes Bb4 better but White can open a lot of lines with 12. c3) 12. Nf6+ only move, anything else is already losing 12...Ke7 now 2 pieces are attacked 13. b4! only move, I doubt a 1900 will find it, anything else loses 13...Qf5 (of course not Qxb4 14. Nd5+) 14. b5! only move, again difficult to find 14...Qxb5 15. c4! only move, next to impossible to find 15...Qxc4 Black just snatches pawns, very easy to find 16. Rc1! (only move, very difficult to find because 16. Nxg5 hxg5 17. Bxg5 looks very tempting but simply 17...Bg7! and White doesn't have a useful check, Black is simply a piece up and winning, 18. Ne4+ Kf8) 16...Qxa2 17. Bg3 Kxf6 18. Rxc6! only move and the whole point of all those sacrifices 17...Bd6! (connects the rooks, 17...bxc6 18. Qxd4+ Ke7 19. Qxh8 is equal) 18. Bxd6 bxc6 19. Be5+ Kg6 20. Bxh8 Rxh8 with advantage for Black. Look at all those pawns! 5...Bc5 is the Max Lange attack. There is a lot of theory for this. It was popular 150 years ago. It's playable for Black but 5...Nxe4 is much simpler. 6. e5 d5 is the standard counter in the center. This is also played in the fried liver and should be widely known among 1700-1900. The standard line is 7. exf6 dxc4 and now White can choose between 8. Re1+ Be6 9. fxg7 (the old line is 9. Ng5 Qd5 10. Nc3 Qf5 11. Nce4 0-0-0 12. g4 super complicated stuff, but 9. Ng5 g6 is simpler and better) 9...Rg8 10. Bg5 Be7 11. Bxe7 Kxe7!? super complicated stuff but equal, or 8. fxg7 Rg8 9. Bg5 f6 (after 9...Be7 we get into the line before) 10. Re1+ Kf7 11. Bh6! Re8! 12. Nbd2 Rxe1+ 13. Nxe1! (threatens Qh5+, Qxe1 is equal) 13...Kg6! what a defense against the threat! 14. Bf4 Qd5! (after 14...Kxg7 15. Qh5 White might be a little better) 15. Nxc4!! (nobody will find this, after the natural 15. Bxc7 Kxg7 Black is better) 15...Kxg7! and it is roughly equal. Why not 15...Qxc4? It's because of 16. Qd3+ and now the pawn will queen with check or the queen is lost! Max Lange is really complicated stuff and both sides have to know the theory.
