Problem with pets is that they are a wildcard in PvP. Your pet is either useless or OP. Mostly because of the bad AI and pathfinding. It's crazy to spend so many action points and so much time to level pets not knowing what random bug will happen in the next fight. As long as pets don't follow the same rules and limitations as players do, this will continue to happen and I don't see SV capable of implementing a good enough AI and pathfinding system.

Very nicely made video. Little tip for our tamers who wanna level their pets a little faster and the usual spots in town are taken /the TC NPC is already being nibbled on by 12 direwolves: Get a level locked level 1 horse to the pet you wanna level. Let the horse attack a pig or chicken (it just follows it around). The other pet will also level up faster ;)

dominate I book trains dominate from 0-50, dominate II trains from 0-70. There is no reason to ever use the dominate I book. You gotta spend a dozen hours to train it to 100 anyway.

haven trainer doesn't give domination levels. it didn't before the haven overhaul and it doesn't now, sadly. just a heads up for future viewers. you must get it unlocked at jungle camp

the tameable animals that can be dominated should take like half the skill level than taming, since you cannot sell them. so like horses should be dominatable by 10-15 points only. that way dominate would be more useful as a cheaper self-only version of taming

Taming is a pain in the ass to lvl up, can be fun sometime, but it is actually too much broken to be really enjoyable. Good luck for those who try the adventure !

Pets are OP against the casual players or those who use easy to get, risk-free equipment like vendor armor or mob drops. They fall off HARD against anyone mounted and anyone with decent equipment. They also do poorly in large scale fights where they can easily be focused down since most pets are large and use buggy AI. People say they're OP, but the reward to investment ratio is usually garbage unless you only stick to using multiple fresh tames which die as easily as they are tamed.

At your two minute mark in the video you say you can learn domination in haven thats false. Only Taming and Creature Control. I just tried it.
