Dominick Cicale divulged an intense narrative involving Bonanno crime family associates and high-stakes mafia internal politics. Cicale inherited Randy Pizzolo, a notorious wild card and problem-maker. Cicale established dominance quickly, making it clear that Pizzolo's notorious reckless behavior wouldn't be tolerated. Despite a brief period of compliance, Pizzolo's old habits resurfaced, leading acting boss Vinny Basciano to command Cicale to eliminate Pizzolo. The plot took a dramatic turn with Cicale orchestrating Pizzolo's assassination through "Ace." However, Basciano was later caught on a wire discussing the murder, unaware that Joe Massino, the Bonanno Boss, was wearing a wire for the FBI. The wiretap captured Basciano discussing Cicale’s role in the murder and other criminal activities.

He snitched on Vinny and others. But at this point so many of the Bonannos had snitched in this case. Joe Massina,the Boss snitched,his underboss Sal Vitale who was also Joes brother in law,Capitan Frank Coppa,Joey D’Amico a soldier,Frank Lino another Capo and so many other Made guys were testifying in the trial. By this time it was a shit show. The Bonannos were finished at this point. The whole administration from the Boss to the consigliere cooperated. Many Capos,captains and soldiers had cooperated. Donnie Brasco had taken down a lot of members in the early 80’s and now in the mid 2000’s a lot of members were also going down. The Bonannos were known as the family that didn’t have any informants nor cooperators up until the 2000’s with this case. All the other 4 families have had many cooperators and informants throughout history.

It's gonna come up later in the interview but Dom's final reason for ratting wasn't bc Vinny told Joe, it was bc they weren't giving Dom's people money while he was locked up. That sounds like a good reason to cooperate. But ask yourself: if they had kept Dom paid, would he still be justified in cooperating? It's funny you mention this bc Vinny's apparently trying to appeal his case rn with the excuse that he had to tell Joe Massino the truth regardless bc he was the boss, so talking to a federal informant like that is somehow a Fifth Amendment violation.
