Would you agree that the 5 most powerful cards overall in the Dominion base game (2nd addition) are Chapel, Witch, Sentry, Laboratory, and Militia?

No, I would say top 5 are Chapel, Sentry, Witch, Throne Room, Militia, in that order.

coming back to council room / militia: i tend to play militia first if possible, since the opponents cannot chose the 4th card they draw afterwards with council room. Often enough that attack is stronger like letting the opponents choose 3 cards from best of 6.

This doesn't sound right. if you play Militia first, they are now guaranteed to keep that extra card you drew them, which is better for them.

@@DominionCards - thanks for your reply! :D i see the contradiction. It surely heavily depends of the kingdom, the stage of the game and if there's trashing available or not. At the point you are able to militia / council room in one turn in the first place, it's pretty much mid/late game already, so maybe you're right. It's just the psychological thing i have to let them choose 3 cards best of 5 instead of 6, with the mindset that they cannot choose the card they draw afterwards. :P but i'm not THAT competetive to say it is better. You're probably right ^^ cheers
