Yes, the tune is very 80's. This was the original Dominion Tank Police, conceived in the 80's, then down the line followed by another anime New Dominion Tank Police in the 90's which sadly didn't star these two cat sisters. Both series were fun though. Both series and the sisters.

I don't know, the DVD i bought 20 years ago imported from UK had both. Immediately struck me that the dub studio didn't get the music license and replaced it wholesale, ALL OF IT. The replacements are pretty good though, they match the mood of the movie pretty well, though originals are a bit less repetitive, sometimes take a step back in just the right moments, and the animation and editing just matches them better.

Dominion Tank Police, first came across this on the second installment of the Sci-Fi channels Saturday Anime Block (Vampire D the week before was the first, also great). Totally captured my attention (and I was like 14 at the time so there was A LOT going on) and loved it and its sequel series New Dominion Tank Police to death. Got the original on DVD in early 2001 at Suncoast Video with a "PlayStation 2 compatible" sticker right on the shrinkwrap. Hopefully one day when Ghost in the Shell has had a break, we'll see a return to this
