This da classic. Used to have this on the hard-drive of one of my older laptops that got stolen a few years back. Been lookin for it every since. One of the few early 90's Shinobi Anime that pay homage to Kite Kato who was, in fact, a real-life famed historical Shinobi who was said to be a master of Genjutsu(Illusion techniques), ...so much so that, at an audition for potential hire by Takeda Shingen, Shingen ordered the assassination of Kite after one of his masterful Genjutsu demonstrations instilled fear in Shingen. Takeda's fear was that of: If I don't hire him as my own personal Shinobi, he may utilize that dreadful Genjutsu against me in retaliation. Legend has it that this was Takeda's reasoning for assassinating Kite Kato and Kite went down in Shinobi history with an infamy that rivaled Hattori Hanzo, Sarutobi Sasuke, Momochi Sandayu and Ishikawa Goemon. If yall get the chance, read up on Kite. Dope story.......

This video perfecting sums up what I think every time somebody says something is copying naruto. The way ninjas have been portrade, the music, the sound effects, even a lot of just straight up action anime troupes and style started a long ass time ago. I remembered some video somewhere on youtube was showing how the first season of naruto was copying key frames from the weirdest places like cowboy beebop.

Artstyle looked familiar, so I looked it up and saw this is a work from Kazuhiro Fujita, author who made Ushio & Tora AND Karakuri Circus (🐐🐐🐐!!!!)

the kind of art & personalities styles & story telling style that is the reason why I fell in love with anime & manga in the first place; like Coke Cola in green bottle, they do not make qualities like these anymore.
