I am so disappointed in them for settling. They could have done so much more for this country if they had stuck it through and went to court. Dominion's management had a fiduciary duty to accept the settlement. They're a portfolio company of a private equity firm, and their legal duty is to shareholders. It's important to recognize that. They would have had to win a bare minimum of three times in court in a process that would have taken another two years in order to even have a chance of fulfilling the pipe dreams of everyone watching this case. And if they had notched a loss at any point during that process, they'd leave themselves open to shareholder lawsuits and Fox would have had a total victory of watching Dominion implode while their business model remained intact. Is that an outcome you would be happy with?

And this client is a for-profit corporation, so its interests are pecuniary, not public. Bottom line, a business is going to do what's best for its business, and taking the risk of losing 800 million to a flippant jury (actually more as this doesn't include trial costs), or further pissing off a large portion of the country (the MAGA-morons) was no doubt viewed as not in their business interests. Dominion's CO has a duty to its shareholders, and unfortunately his duty doesn't align equally with this Country's need to expose the shameless, cynical, repugnant, and avaricious FOX "News" Corp.

I had same initial reaction. The way I’m now choosing to view it is that Dominion has the right to do what works for them and their people. From what they revealed, the death threats to their people from maga was vicious to have to relive through trial and attract more during trial. Ultimately Dominion is not responsible to change or annihilate fox. Their viewers had plenty of access to the truth about Biden’s legitimate 2020 win. They simply wanted the lie to overturn results and she the majority of us American voters. Let's start with risk. You never know if you're gonna win a trial. Your opponent wants to settle for the largest amount in US history for a defamation claim? You'd be a fool to pass that up. You're assuming they were gonna win. That's not a good assumption. I know this settlement leaves most Americans with an empty feeling, but saving the flawed American democracy from domestic enemies is not the job of businesses. Dominion as a business had a focused set of objectives; Accountability (lies about Dominion revealed in depositions and court opinion) and justice (payment). Taking steps to secure Fox accountability for their efforts in radicalizing citizens and influencing elections requires additional lawsuits to pick up where Dominion left off.

I am sorry Dominion settled. I wish they had been forced to recant every single lie, again and again and I wish then they had to pay 3 billion and been forced out of business.

Like other comments indicated, I am also disappointed in the settlement vs. a trial. Fox News followers only watch Fox News not other media, so the people who most needed to hear Fox News hosts such as Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity and investor/chairman Rupert Murdoch state the false claims they made in court and take some responsibility. This lawyer seems extremely naive or as others suggested more interested in her share of settlement. If I worked for Dominion, I would have wanted the trial.

Excuse me I watch all news and what do you do when the news is polar opposites. You are also taking the total word of the alphabet news.There were no riots, there were no killings during the pandemic, we had to wear masks and crap and stay locked up and you believed all of that.
