Gold Star family member here , my only Uncle was shot down over Guam , in June 1944 , along with the gunner and the pilot. According to a letter from a Navy witness they were still trying to hit their targets as they were going down in flames . Never found to this day , dead at 22 , no wife , no kids , not enough life lived . I have his trunk , his Purple Heart , his diary , with words and drawings , I have his aviator photograph on the wall , and think of him and honor him almost every day . The people of Guam have a parade every year and they celebrate the young men that had courage to fight to liberate them , a courage that trump cannot understand . AND he was an immigrant , so was my Father who fought in the Navy , on the Ranger , and survived RIP . The Greatest Generation
