One thing about Bishop Fish is that they are absolutely capable of being casted Natively as Mekone. (at least without a pretender or empowerment) What you need is Construction Seven for the Water Bracelet and then Use your water random Elder Cyclops to craft a Robe of the Sea (since they have master smith 1) Next put the aformentioned items onto a water caster of your choice and now he is at least a Water 3 that can breathe water Finally you'll need Conjuration 6 and an underwater province with a lab to Summon a Bishop Fish (also craft an item that allows them to breathe air) That being said as Mekone (outside of fighting the undead or claiming thrones) you do not need Holy 3's that much as Holy water is a better investment for your Polemarchs than climbing water ONLY to summon bishop fish. Great Video can't wait for the stream.

A small note about the promoted Helote units: The peltast's morale increases from 7 -> 10. The peltast also gains 2 armor, going from 5 -> 7. The two spear units' morale increases from 7 -> 11. These values don't include the bonuses they get from the experience they have earned, either, which further compound their increased efficiency. These values are better than what they recieve via a taskmaster and 11 is above average for a normal human unit, too. With a polemarch leading they go up to a base of 13 morale before any other bonuses, making them into fairly stable fighters compared to slaves. Personally, for a frontline, I find this improved morale to be more desirable even at the increased upkeep cost as even at 9 morale with a taskmaster's bonus that is often too low for the unit to stay in the fight, and when the slaves run, sometimes the gigantes bolt, too. That's been my experience, anyway.

Mekone’s philosophy seems pretty much objectively right in the world of Dominions. The Pantokrator is only one thing consistently: a giant asshole.

Yeah, the current one. The whole game is about resetting. It's interesting that the lore basically assumes that every God that becomes THE god does all the previous imprisoning and junk. That benevolent fertility goddess that rose to power through destruction of demons? Sorry, she's evil af after thousands of years and oops new gods are fighting now.

...something something die the hero.... I really like the cyclical nature of the wheel turning. One man's savior is another's oppressor. This is a zero sum game. You win or you lose. Fits very well with nations (for the most part) not really presented as good or evil. They just are.

I used to do a lot of Mekone in Dom 5, and tried a match or two of them last week now in 6. My current build was a Scales Statue of War with the paths for Gigantomachia. Not taking Unaging was painful, but having Leadership in my bless let me swarm peltasts who, for once, refused to break. Looking forward to your stream to see how you handle it.

The true heroes of EA (ignoretheslavesignoretheslaveignorethe....) With a full imprisoned scales pretender you can shit out giants and helot for armies, however I feel I can't get the full use of their mages to get the most use of my legions of giants.
@Milorada73757 ай бұрын
Just one E2 mage with 2 gems can support a whole army at Construction 6 with Legion of Steel which is excellent on Mekone. Also, Magma Bolts is really good for Mekone because you have a lot of Earth/Fire crossover and 25+ blunt damage will rarely hurt your giants but does a lot of damage to most early age opponents
@ertniter7 ай бұрын
@@Milorada7375 I'm way to new too know what I should focus my research on so thank you for the tips! I found Mekone a good nation to learn the basics of how to do a economy and the basic logistics of an army too.

Earth/fire/nature are great beginner paths as they mostly do what they say on the tin. Earth especially because of Summon Earth power making E2 mages great! If you want more relatively straight forward nations, check out EA Agartha too.

@bewawolf197 ай бұрын
Time to post about precision again! So while the Discobolus unit has 12 precision, the bronze discus has a -3 precision modifier, meaning his actual effective precision is 9. This means he has perfect accuracy at shooting at things 1,2 and 3 tiles away, can have 1 tile of deviation at ranges 4-10, 2 tiles at 11-17, and 3 tiles at 18-21. This is pretty decent accuracy still for a thrown weapon, but a 27 blunt damage discus hitting the head of your 24 head protection gigante hoplite still won't feel good so having them fire their 4 shots of ammunition before both sides get into melee is for the best. I am also not too sure how worthwhile it is to buff them with magic with how limited their ammunition is, but I suppose you could find some value if fighting against giants who lack much chaff. Afterall you native fire-2 access for ignite arrows and can easily get flaming arrows, and some air access so perhaps winguide isn't out of the picture. I'd though never recommend farflight arrows, your precision is bad enough without increasing their range even further. I do admit though, 11 precision flaming discus with 27 blunt and 8 fire AP does sound like a wonderful meme build to make as Mekone.
@BabelBuilder7 ай бұрын
I'm not sure the fire arrows would be worth the effort as they have such low ammo, and already likely kill targets they hit, but the wind guide might be worth it.

I recommend trying Celestial Gryphon as your Pretender. Very fast. Don't need to risk on the front line to get a lot of value. Can zoom around to add very powerful Air magic to battles and also is incredibly useful to claim thrones. I tend to choose blesses that are passive, and this is excellent with one that increases map move.
@BabelBuilder7 ай бұрын
Immobile pretenders are always a risk. Mekone doesn't need much (or maybe any) bless, so they could definitely get away with it!

So I've played a SP game w/ one of zan's builds, an imprisoned great archon with: 4F4E5S 6 dom 2P2O1H1G0L3M and a caster bless of x3 reinvig and far caster. Can natively cast gigantomachia and gets us into astral on a decent titan chasis w/great scales, and it worked really well for me. Cyclopes can make staves of elemental mastery and the great archon with a coin of meteoric iron can craft rings of sorcery and then further wizardry. And once the great archon has those he can cast all the big earth globals and we just have to kill anyone with the ability to cast elemental opposition of earth lol. Great archon can also make matrices so we can do some crazy communion plays late game. I can't stress enough how good lizard shamans are for us, they get us into big nature for regen/relief/PR/howl, even oaken warriors if we aren't going for army of gold. And we can craft enough gear to get them to summon an ivy king if we don't want to do communions. Also rings of regen are quite good on our thugs/assassins.

The way I set up the map for streams, generally means I will finish before doing major path climbing would happen. In a longer game, that would totally work well. What I would have done for some lizards in that test game! I got Machaka shamans out of Yomi's cap for some reason, but the game was basically over at that point.

Mekone was the second nation i played in Dom 6 and had a blast with them. though i certainly made some mistakes. didn't get the scales right so was struggling to get troops out, wasn't really using magic to its fullest so that was a lot of buffing being left on the table and going to waste. in the end i didn't even truly win that, beat back every nation accept for Abysia that proved to stubborn a thorn in my side. After sieging their capitol for several turns and not being able to beat them despite throwing several legions of giants at them (yes i was and probably still am that bad at the game) i took a hollow victory. just ended the game with the mind set 'will id win eventually' but felt cheap and still doesn't sit right with me. looking forward to game on Friday and i'll actually be able to catch some of the live stream this week. not sure if i can watch the whole thing but i'll be with you and rooting for you as long as i can

I just played an EA Mekone yesterday! I also had the dormant fertility statue pretender, but went with a mix of nature and death, with an Unaging bless. The death ended up being completely useless, as it took too long to get any indie death casters. I do like having low to mid nature magic for rings of regen and cauldrons/bags of wine for supplies. For over half the game, I mistakenly had the Gerontes in all my forts, rather than Ephors, oops. I absolutely love Polemarchs. So beefy and deadly, with incredible leadership, AND great paths with summoned phoenix/earth power. This was the first time I used assassins, from the annual event, and even ended up crafting them some items. I started them out with easy nature items like the barkskin necklace and vinedude retinue. My armies were pretty much pure Helote Peltasts and Gigante Hoplites for a while, eventually supplementing with whatever archers I could find and occasional barbarians. My armies did very well until the end, against Niefleheim. I had more than enough thrones, and was just waiting for my prophet to waddle his way across my empire to grab em all. I was NAP'd against the only other large opponent, Sauromatia. So I picked a fight with the MUCH smaller Niefelheim, and won a few fights. Even two big ones. But then they showed up with another large army that ALSO had about 15 of their size 9 giants, and my poor Gigantes ate dirt. The first time, my fired up archers carried me. The second time, I ran out of a front line.
@BabelBuilder7 ай бұрын
Did they freeze your frontline? What was the cause of them winning that line battle?
@Aliyen7 ай бұрын
@@BabelBuilder I don't think it was the freeze. If I remember right, it was mostly from the size of the fights. They had so many, both giants and otherwise, that it was hard to bring numbers against them. I had at least four non-mage (Iochos/Polemarch) commanders with Gigante Hoplites; probably two sets along the front, and one or two in a second line a bit back. I had very low Evocation magic, so it was pure brute vs brute, with my magic devoted to buffs. It had worked out well for me before that fight, so I didn't change. I think I lost 60-80 Gigante Hoplites for it. Maybe there was some exhaustion, but I think the meat grinder was too fast for most of it. I might have had too many injuries from their previous fights, too. I didn't check that. I probably should have positioned farther back so I could surround a bit more, and give my fire buffed archers another round or two. Edit* Oh yeah, one more thing... I normally would have used magma bolts by now. But I had just finished off Abysia, so I hadn't bothered getting my evocation very high.

If you are to the point that the ai isn't doing it for you, its time to make the jump to multiplayer. Dom6's ai is much improved, but still plays rather simply compared to a human. There are some great communities that are new player welcoming!
