Full disclosure, I've seen the awe dread great enchantress on lucid's discord elsewhere (perhaps LA agartha as a dormant), and I saw in helheim someone using winter's gift w/ a stygian flesh fear demilich, and I just combined them when I saw someone else posting a demilich that was fear awe in vanheim's board. I actually wonder how strong the stygian flesh fear demilich is on vanheim now lol.

Credit where credit is due. :) Stygian flesh is really good on sacred mounts, as I have found over and over that it tends to be the mount that lets the unit down. Those units tend to also not generally need magic weapons to counter, so the odds of a counter pick might be lower. Combine that with those same units tending to have high defense, fear would combo really well there too.

I wouldn't discount the Draugr. Fear is currently so overpowered that it alone wins battles for you, and if you take a fear/dread bless on your sacreds, it will let you rout entire battlefields very quickly.

I think the price/efficiency is the issue. If they were a tad cheaper/unit, they would be more interesting.

You are underselling your sacreds. Blood bond + regeneration makes them crazy blenders. One get pinged and they all get crazy 🙂

No Babel! Don't teach people about my go-to bless!! Haha Awe / Dread is fantastic on thugs and very solid on troops. They synergize so well and it feels on the cheap side compared to getting most powerful two cross-path incarnate blesses. I have to force myself to do other things sometimes. They can both be hard countered though, which is the rub in MP.

I'd make an argument for a dwarf prophet. it gives them an additional earth path. it might not be your first prophet but if you spam out a bunch of them and get a lucky earth random you can get an E4. also with the master smith adding 1 to a path you can empower 1 in a path and forge as a 2. getting luck scales for some random gems for that empowerment could be a fair argument. I like the dormant Titan as an option. you got loads of thug and mage access and a great cap only sacred. it gives you a big guy to throw at an enemy in an emergency. Alternately going all in on the sacred being great is an option. those guys shred enemies. If I were to try and put my own spin on things I'd probably want to grab an immobile with death and glamour on it. Heroism would be really good as you have very expensive mages and research needs all the help it can get.

@@BabelBuilder Well... I would pounce it like you did in Vanheim. But... I have no idea what the authentic pronunciation should be. Old Norse can be a bit hard to get right, even for me that actually speak a language that comes from it. (Swedish). The source I have are a bit conflicting.

Just playing a SP Helheim game using a joint sacred unit imprisoned bless and my opening cav sacreds had zero attrition and were in combat every turn 2-18 T19 they saved the day as part luck buffed flanking charge screen ahead of 2 hall of fame basic commander/ horse sacred pairs in 1:5 killing of main stack one province from A1 capital so it is possible to use the nerfed units although not as rewarding as say nerfed Sauromatian serpents. Indeed will be interested to see build for "easy mode" (?) Vanheim sacreds.

@@BabelBuilderD6O1P1G1L0M1 AS1 SR10 UD4 Str1 EB BS Imprisoned no attempt to remedy unit horse toughness (not paying for barding and not having to use earth buffs so mitigating factors) you need scales for sacred recruits early. Helheim Bless is no use on its own as just part of it as it needs a whole series of things. T2-4 detailed horse/scale expand with caution from T5 always have critical mass of two blessed groups going to rear to speed down commander/mages on large dom 6 maps. Those being valk + either horse or valk. Horse needs less so necessary to get initial party going. But the dividend of extreme movement used to lay out path for horse group that avoids big archer stacks before magic out. You can have army 4 on horse (e.g. into caves) if you get enough indi priests to free up buffers but other stacks are standard Dis+another/Valk*2 and they have even more choice of target. When necessary horse stacks also have chaff with small spear diagonally behind always to pull 3/4 of brief arrow fire off any one sacred group. Send in mage/horse escort as light thug support with horse if needed. Expansion battles over very quick. You partly finance by having sacreds in battle every go so you can afford to keep more and horses can leave scales units for a go whilst they move up (dis/valk often operate without any), Glamour/air buffs/spells. Against H Cav/fliers use horse and position centre extreme rear hold attack counter charge and position commanders accordingly. Vanheim horse not as "good" as Sauromatia Serpents as those have vast numbers of fairly unique combined arms formation tricks.

@@BabelBuilder this is the helheim I saw b4/adapted for vanheim: demilich W2E3S5D8G3B4 (can move the B4 to whatever, but B4 gets us blood stones plus higher blood) dom7 O0S1C3D1M1D1 bless: winter's gift, magic weps, stygian flesh, fear. We could even go Death 2 or 3 and try to make use of the fay boars! (and keep enemies away from our death nation, but our blood economy will suffer but are we a true blood nation?)
