After this interview Dominique Ducharme has really proven to me how good a coach he was and what a human being he really is. Just a tremendous insight into what he and the entire organization was facing after the Habs went to the finals. I hope he rebounds and gets back into the NHL. Just a SICK interview Tony. You continue to be da man!

Respect to Tony for giving him a platform to respond to the criticism he got. I don't think he took much accountability for what happened last season which was disappointing, but I do feel for him in the sense that almost everything that could go wrong, did go wrong last season.

And good coaches manage to get through such hurdles, Ducharme didn't get any results at ALL last season no matter what he did. I don't see him ever get a coaching job in the NHL again to be honest, he probably would not even got the head coach position in the first place if it was not for the incredible run to the SC finals. The team actually played their best hockey when Ducharme got COVID and Luke Richardson coached them against Las Vegas, and now Luke is head coach for the Blackhawks while Ducharme will most likely be relegated to coaching in the Q.

Yes and no, he kinda still sounds super bitter tbh, one of the most important things he has to learn if he ever wants to continue being a coach at the pro level is that pro level coaching in pretty much every one of big leagues is a revolving door, he's gotta do better at not making it sound like its personal. Way more accomplished coaches are fired every month....

Appreciate how you handled this Tony. Dom lost too much leadership to succeed the year he was fired. Injuries were also crazy. A lot of negative things happened that were out of Dom’s control. Perfect storm to get fired. I hope Dom gets another crack somewhere else. Awesome episode! I really appreciate your classy side Tony….much more than your louder side.

Habs were a team in trouble for quite some time ,Bergevin s patch and plug was going to run out. Reality was there for at least 5 years or so. This team needed an overhaul. Rebuild. I don t think many coach s could ve fixed a team with that roster.I think Marty was the right type of guy to spark the kids of the future , and get them away from a system that just was nt going to work with players of their caliber. Majority 3 and 4 liners. maybe a couple of second liners. Very low caliber team. Which thank God is finally going to change. Love the new management .😄👌👍👋

Ducharme was overwhelmed. Unlike the playoffs in the regular season he did not have Weber, Price, Danault, Perry and Stall to bail him out - and I do not mean on the ice but in the dressing room. Without them there was a considerable lack of leadership that left the head coach on his own. He could not overcome it and showed his weaknesses in a number of areas including mainly communication. Also there is no excuse of how he handled his young players. I hope that he learns from this but from his last two interviews - I don’t think he gets it.

It seems I hear the same stuff, no matter what podcast I go to, "should Suzuki be captain right now, or should it be someone else?" Is one that everyone is talking about right now. With that question, it's usually Edmonson that is the one people say they'd prefer for a year or two, THEN give it to Suzuki. I dont want Joel Edmonson to be Captain of the Montreal Canadiens, (Nothing against Joel, but he isn't Habs "C" material). Id rather see them just not have a captain again, then choose Edmonson. If Suzuki has a bad year, it won't be because he is wearing a "C" on his uniform. I am sure Suzuki is plenty mature to be the Captain. Id rather see Gallagher WAY before Edmonson, Gally would make a good captain, plus maybe it'd give him the spark he needs to get his career back on track, and at least become a 20-25 goal guy again.

Why couldn't he speak then with the same fluency that he speaks now? This man was a human wreck, emotionless. A lifeless block of ice, unable to string two coherent words together in an interview. How could we believe that he could communicate well with his players when he couldn't even express himself properly in front of the cameras? A constant monotonous tone of voice which put journalists and all those who listened to sleep. Yes, a person can be more nervous with microphones swarming in front of their face. But there is being nervous and there is being lifeless, without words, without thoughts. Yes, club management can prevent you from saying what you want, but charisma is not something you can switch at will. You have it or you don't. And what was precisely one of his biggest faults according to those who were part of the entourage? Communication. There you go. You can't be a zombie in front of the cameras and a completely different person in the locker room. Impossible. At some point, a person's personality shines through even if that person is uncomfortable in front of the media. With him, nothing. Even behind the bench, there was no emotion. And if emotion, leadership and passion have to start from one place, it's from behind the bench. These things don't lie. Nice interview. but we are responsible for the image we give and the image he gave at the time was not that of a passionate, involved and intelligible man. Well, he's not the coach anymore.

@toddlauretteHabsforlife
@toddlauretteHabsforlife 2 жыл бұрын
LOL, MOST of this is from Ducharme... The Canadiens finished last in the league for the first time since the 1939-40 NHL season and the first time in the NHL's expansion era, in what was one of the worst seasons in the team's history. Collectively, they set team records for most regulation losses (49), most goals against (319), fewest wins[11] (22), and fewest points[11] (55), while its .335 point percentage was the team's third-worst ever, after only both the 1925-26 (.319) and 1939-40 (.260) campaigns. Every team dealt with Covid issues and injuries, I know we had a few really rough spots, but a "good coach"...ah never mind, Im glad u like him, but more glad he's gone.

But yah, he's a really good coach, he had nothing to do with Caufield not being used properly, it was just a huge coincidence that Caufield started scoring goals and the team started having more fun and winning, just as Ducharme left? He’s making all these excuses that he “didn’t know” they wanted to throw games, as if it changes the fact that he can’t see talent that’s right in front of him. Had no clue how to make solid line ups, sent Caufield in a spiral because of how he treated him, and had a fluke run in the playoffs that was all because of the players, not his coaching style. My opinion though

I remember when Corey Perry was asked about Ducharme as a coach. Ducharme was interim at the time and some wondered how his players viewed him. Perry confirmed, Ducharme is an NHL coach! 🏒

Dude’s too french. These guys don’t want a coach like that 😂

Ducharme is clueless, lost the room and the respect of the players, not an NHL caliber coach.
