Siegfried and Roy. Lido de Paris. 1968

From 1968-1971 my mom was the hairdresser for the Lido show at the Stardust Hotel in Las Vegas. As a teen and eldest (of her 5), back in those days I was privileged not only to visit her at her workplace (backstage), but was allowed to stand, concealed in the wings, and watch these two fabulous performers (literally) "work their magic." It's something I'll never forget. History in the making. And I was right there. An happily starstruck, wide-eyed little "fly on the wall." Peace, AHA ♥

That's an amazing story, this was 1 year after their debut at the Tropicana hotel in 1967 and this video is from 1968 this was their first appearance on french television. Siegfried was 28 years old and Roy was 24 years old.

That's a cool story. My earliest memory of Siegfried and Roy was them at the old Stardust Hotel, when they were just one of the novelty acts of the Lido de Paris. '70 or '71.

Wow! S&R was one of my favorite magicians since their first TV special in 1980. David Copperfield, David Blaine, Penn & Teller and Lance Burton is not to far behind. They're the best. Rest in Paradise, S&R.

I love this video I think it was close to the time when they met on the cruise ship and begun performing together though they are both gone now I missed them so much I wish I got a chance to see them in person or at least be able to talk to them and tell them how wonderful they are but I know that they were there for each other right at the end both are in heaven with some of their exotic pets that have passed before them every time I see one of their videos it amazes me more on how these two handsome gentlemen from Germany perform Magic don't know how it works don't really want to know maybe that's part of the magic seeing it done and not knowing how it works just that it does rest in peace Siegfried and Roy

@@ak7ant According to an interview with Lynette Chapell, their personal manager and who played the evil queen in their shows at the Mirage said that Siegfried by himself wouldn't be enough and Roy on his own would be too much.
