I noticed previous comments about “generalizing advice”. Made me wonder if we listened to the same video?🧐 I didn’t hear either of them generalize at all. I heard Dr. Barbie specifically say, many times over, that a plan should be INDIVIDUALIZED for every woman, carefully weighing the personal history, lifestyle, risks vs rewards, etc. and coming to an educated decision about whether HRT is appropriate FOR YOU or not! What she also advised was NOT to generalize, out of fear and misinformation, that HRT was dangerous for everyone! Not ONCE did she say HRT is right for everyone. Frankly, I found this to be one of the most honest and helpful discussions I have ever heard on the topic. I wish I had this information earlier, I might be much healthier at this stage of my life (68). I am definitely sharing it with younger friends/family. Thank you, Dominique and Dr. Barbie, for the thoughtful and empowering way the information was presented! 🙏🏽

Hi Dominique. Seven years ago, I saw your first episode with Barbie Taylor, and It changed my life. I was 40 years old years old, and I was going into a premenopausal period without knowing it. After I saw your video, I understood what was happening and what are the tools to fix it. After constant battles with Obs, I managed my menopause on my way. I am a faithful follower of you and Barbie. Thanks to both of you from the deep of my heart.

I read many of Suzanne Somers’ (may she RIP) books on health and wellness and because of her, I used bio identical hormones when I went through menopause. I had great results. Many of my friends used bio identical hormones as well and all reported great results. I continue to be in great health thankfully at age 61.

When my friends ask me how I am doing lately and tell me I look wonderful or sound wonderful, I am quick to be grateful for my “hormone pals” of a patch and nightly pill. And then the conversation leads to “but that stuff is dangerous” and thus begins the education I urge my friends to give themselves about this stage of their life, their options and how to find a clinician and provider that will listen to them and support them. We don’t need to suffer, we don’t need to endure and we shouldn’t give up! Thank you for using your platform and voice to educate, inspire and inform so many women. ❤

I was still on birth control pills when I was in my late 40's. I asked my (male) gynecologist how I would know when I entered menopause and he asked if I really needed to know. I said, "Yeah, I think so". A few years later, when my periods stopped, my PCP put me on HRT immediately but took me off in a hurry when that "Fear Report" came out. I am now 76 and have osteoporosis. Angry - you bet! I appreciate your videos, Dominique and the wonderful women providing information, inspiration and support. I'm going to look into my options and make whatever choices I think will improve my health and quality of life. The viewers' comments on the dangers of HRT seem to ignore your guests' strong emphasis on the need for each woman's personal situation to be evaluated.

My ob/gyn kept me on the combination pill pack Lo Loestrin until I was 58. I tried to maintain a sensible diet, walks and strength training since my 30s....my muscle mass is almost gone even though I am still lifting. It is pretty confusing and no good research for us. Same question: "When can I tell if I am in menopause?"--- My doctor said, I'll let you know.. 😂😂 Well, that never happened. I'm 60 and off the pill pack. Still have those night sweats. We tried adding 1 mg of compounded testosterone and in 4 days it made me bonkers. I stopped that immediately. What works for some my not work for others. Good luck ladies!

I am 75 and I was on Estrace until a few years ago when my doctor scared me into not taking it anymore. Now I have osteopenia and I fear Alzheimer's more than I fear anything else. I am going to tell him at my next checkup that I want to go back on the estrogen because I have had a hysterectomy so I have no risk of uterine or ovarian cancer. I feel now that the benefits of estrogen replacement therapy will outweigh the risks for me. So we will see what he says.

No women ever needs to ask a doctor when they are in menopause. Your symptoms WILL inform you. If you have to ask you're not. That's why Dr. Taylor stresses "listen to your body." Education is key! Unfortunately too many male doctors will never understand (because they don't want to) and too few female doctors (because they don't stay educated or are misinformed). Only the ones who are educated on the latest research and the ones who taylor the treatment to their patients needs are worth any women's time going through the natural change of life. Women need to "stop" listening to doctors that don't listen to them. Just because they bear the title "doctor" doesn't mean they are smart and caring. For the ladies who learned this too late to start HRT (because there is a window of opportunity) you can still be an advocate to point other women you know in the right direction. Eduction is key to prevention. Let's determine to be a community of caring, informed women who support other women. And find doctors that are like-minded like the good doctor here.

I had partial hysterectomy at age 33 and in 5 years I just started aging tremendously, the bone loss is so bad! I have always worked out and do heavy weight training. my bone loss got loss got so bad I could barely stand up straight. I just started HRT five months ago and I can see and feel a big improvement with my whole Health. Bone loss, weight gain , dry skin, sore muscles, no libido, all over aches and pain always , weak immune system, are all slowly disappearing. I can finally see the benefit of all my hard work in the gym.

Thank you for this informative episode. Education is so important. I heard Barbie stress (multiple times) that everyone is different - what works for me may not work for you. I am post menopausal and I wish that I had this information going into perimenopause and menopause. I am also a post menopausal breast cancer survivor. I deeply admire my OB/GYN but I received no direction or even a mention of menopause. In fact, I had my first bone density test this year - at age 60, and I have osteopenia and am very close to osteoporosis. I'm a little angry, honestly. There are so many things I could have been doing to help myself but I just did not know. I am having serious conversations with my daughters about finding doctors that are actively continuing their education in women's health. And I am going to continue to educate myself in the hope of having as healthy a future as possible.

I love Barbie!!! I had two consults with her!!!! It was the best thing I have ever done!!! Thank you both so much :*) I do need to add this, my Mother had severe postpartum depression and was placed in a mental hospital and treated with shock treatments and what ever medicines they had in 1961. I was only a year old then. She needed hormones and was labeled as crazy!!! She spent 13 years of her life in that hospital. It breaks my heart at the atrocity that took place with her care :*( Years later my father remarried, my stepmom took HRT for 30 years and passed from lung cancer :*( I am so glad that she told me about hormone therapy.

HRT is not for everyone and there are definitely some risks to taking it. Each woman needs to know the facts for her own specific situation (health and family history, age of peri or full on menopause, risk factors, etc) and then make an informed, educated decision. Also, having access to the latest research is also imperative as different studies have revealed different risk/benefit results. One size doesn’t fit all, particularly when it comes to hormones in older women, some who may already be at increased risk for cancer and/or cardiac disease.

I’m a huge fan Dominque and definitely appreciate the discussions on this topic. A little disheartened by the comments of alcohols health benefits, especially when tackling the topic of women’s health. Alcohol is a known carcinogen directly related to breast cancer. I’m not trying to be negative, but as a nurse of 30 years it’s definitely a concern. I pray it becomes a reality that big alcohol is held to the same standards of health warnings and transparency that the tobacco companies are held to.

Now I’m afraid to take HRT, but also feel that if I don’t, and I end up gaining weight and things, then that estrogen from the fat cells will feed cancer as well. So it’s risky either way.

Among the symptoms of menopause may be symptoms linked to taking benzodiazepines, antidepressants The same symptoms are linked to wearing breast prostheses For benzodiazepines, withdrawal must be carried out according to the protocol by Heather Ashton For breast prostheses: total capsulectomy called enbloc. Is it strange that in the context of menopause no one talks about all these factors that I have just mentioned and which seriously harm women's health?

That is old information (that women should come off HRT in 5 years) and it is based on a false report by WHO (please see Dr. Taylor's videos that debunk that). And just because some women do not suffer the unbearable symptoms that scream oestrogen deficiency doesn't mean they are not suffering from the loss. The silent killers are heart disease which lead to heart attack (the number one killer of women), bone loss and dementia. I learned that from Dr. Taylor. I had a bone scan in my early 50s and my bones are strong as 20 year olds and I am going to keep them that way by continuing HRT and weight bearing exercise. I challenge women to get a scan and see where you are before you reach menopause. If you wait until you are in your 60s like most doctors suggest it is usually too late. Especially since you can lose up to 1 to 2% every year you are oestrogen deficient. Prevention is the cure and knowledge is power!

HRT may be ok for some people, but if you are among those who are negatively affected by it it is devastating. The trouble is there is no way to know you shouldn't be taking them until something happens. Personally I had pulmonary embolisms and a stroke which I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. So please if you are reading this think long and hard before you take anything as dangerous as HRT. Oh, and don't let anyone tell you there are Bioidentical hormones. I understand where you’re coming from BUT my daughter passed away from breast cancer at the age of 39. She had been on birth control pills for quite a few years. The drs told us that the estrogen in the birth control pills feed the cancer. We had no family history of breast cancer. We are devastated and I think people should be aware. My drs told me to Never take hormone supplement therapy. Thanks for your channel! 💜💜💜

Hi Dominique. Thanks for having Dr. Taylor on this week. She is certainly extremely knowledgeable about menopause. I would like to have information on post-menopause and the effects on women. I have never taken any medications or HRT for menopause. My menopause was very “light” just like my mother’s. It felt like I didn’t experience much of it except for a couple of hot flashes. The weight gain was minimal and may have been due to stress at work. Now I am post-menopausal and lost the gained weight. What should I expect now at this stage? Thank you!

In 2009, in my early 50s, through my primary care Dr and a compounding pharmacist, I started bi-est, progesterone capsules, and testosterone gel. I stayed on this regimen until 2017. The pharmacist was scatterbraind at best and many times messed up my bi-est RX. In 2017, he mixed my testosterone gel for a man, and for months, I had bad symptoms that finally was figured out by a blood draw. I stopped all 3 products for a year, and all menopause symptoms returned fast, and I was miserable for a year. I researched HRT on my own and started a progesterone cream and estriol cream in 2018 that I still use to manage symptoms. Over the summer, I saw an OB/GYN who said to just keep using my products because, at my age, which is 66, she would never put me on HRT! So, here I am in 2023 wondering what in the heck to do with all this new knowledge when I thought years ago I had the right knowledge through my primary Dr??? Help

Here is what I don't get. If estrogen can feed certain types of breast cancer, then wouldn't pregnancy be the most dangerous thing a woman could do regarding cancer? Since pregnancy skyrockets estrogen, wouldn't being pregnant put a woman at risk for hormone fed breast cancer? And yet they say that pregnancies lower risk of breast cancer. It makes no sense.

The data shows that HRT does slightly increase the risk of breast cancer. Anyone talking about the subject should be honest about this. Menopause has become big business and so many players are eager to play on women.’s fears to make money. Women should get the help they need and it is up to us to decide what risks we feel comfortable taking. Of course, alcohol, smoking and being overweight pose far greater risks.

I haven’t listened yet but hope that the actual level of estrogen on HRT is addressed. I’ve listened to so many podcasts re HRT but level is never addressed other than another of Dominique’s friends I did hear once say a 60 or maybe it was 90, is enough. Am 70 and take such a small amt of estrogen yet level runs in the 500’s. Two docs say it’s high but I’m supplementing so stay on it, an NP said she’s never seen a level so high and get off. Given I have low bone density, have chronic fatigue and broke femur 3 years ago, have decided to stay on it.

I suggest you get over to Dr. Taylor's channel and get educated on progesterone. It is my understanding that you only need it if you have a uterus to prevent uterine cancer due to blood building up on the lining when taking oestrogen. There are other natural supplements you can take to help with sleep. Do a little research on melatonin.
