Hey dom, I appreciate your videos a lot! Please do not take this the wrong way but you made some mistakes in the video. The misinformation is specifically about. I typed out a big wall of text on parrying replying to someone here. And i just want to say you might want to issue a correction. The mistake you made is that you CAN and SHOULD parry all normal attacks, NOT just play passively waiting for the prompts. you can EVEN parry the Carnifexes sweep and several of the Hive Tyrants attacks too. Though that is not at all neccessary to succeed in the missions even on ruthless. But it can be done. That was... well i cringed a bit at that bit of advice you gave. I know its been a week since you released this video and might have learned more about the game, but people are still watching it, so maybe make some type of correction about what you said about parrying? If you want to survive ruthless you are being dead weight if you just wait around and don't attack the enemy. You need to take every opportunity to damage your enemies on ruthless. But you need to be careful and stop your attack after a few strikes. because the enemy WILL counterattack! How long your combo can be depends on the speed of your weapon. With a slower weapon you will only likely get in 1 or 2 strikes before you have to stop and prepare to parry (again, don't wait for the blue prompts, parry the regular attacks as well), but if you run the 11dmg 7 speed relic tier power sword on Bulwark like i do, you can pretty much kill a majoris without having to stop to parry, as long as you mix in a heavy attack to stagger them often enough. One thing to know about the parrying in this game is that unlike in many other games, you cannot cancel your melee attack into a parry, so if you overcommit then you are screwed when that counter attack comes. The slower your weapon, the longer your recovery time, the more careful and considerate you need to be with when you can attack. However once you play the game (or a certain weapon) enough,it really doesn't take long once these things click. Like how many times can i attack a tyranid warrior with a weapon with a speed of 4 before i have to stop so that i can parry their counter attack. Also inversely, if you have a high speed weapon you can attack many more times, and you recover faster so even if you slightly over commit you might still be able to get off a parry, if not a perfect parry. I've been maining Bulwark since release and he has many perks that rely on perfect parries and that is the reason I have studied this mechanic intensively. And ill mention it here as i did in the other post; some people have said that they have trouble parrying with the bulwark. But it it no different from any other class. The mistake that is very easy to make is that you press the parry button slightly too long and you end up raising your shield instead of your weapon for a parry. You do not need to hold the parry button for the entire duration of the windup and animation. Also the parry timing is slightly different than in other games with parrying mechanics. You need to press the parry button early, because your character does a slight windup, and then a kind of sweep in the air. The sweep is the duration where if an attack connects (your blades quite literally clash) you successfully get a perfect parry. So instead of clicking parry as the attack is about to land, you instead click the parry as soon as the enemy raises their arm for an attack. Thanks you for the work you do for all these guides but the section about parrying in this one was kinda just wrong so i HAD to correct you. There are sooo so many people out there playing not knowing how to parry at all, and your video didn't really help that all... with the exception that i did notice you parry some of the lictors normal attacks in the gameplay video. So you must know all this by now? then PLEASE add a pinned comment or something where this is explained. I do like your work though and I hope you do are not insulted, I mean no harm. I simply with so spread knowledge to help my battle brothers get to and survive ruthless difficulty! Once all this parrying stuff clicks, the game becomes infinitely easier Thank you ✌

TIP: Zoanthropes can be killed with a single Krak grenade. In the two toughest difficulties, I like to hold onto a couple Krak grenades to insta-gib double Zoanthropes when they show up. The grenade has an auto-aim nature so just aim in the general direction of the target when its shield is down and enjoy the fireworks.

one krak will bring down a zoanthrope, u still need to execute it to kill, also need to not have a shield to aim, just go under it or somewhere close and lookup, krak grenade lock in somewhat close to your crosshair but its not that accurate so if u go under the zoanthrope and look up, it should be very high chance itll attach to it using krak grenade on the zoanthrope on angel of death protect the core mission was how i managed to get past it solo

Fun tip. Human enemies don’t even need to be shot or struck if they’re close by. They’re humans, and you can just run or dodge through them and their pathetic human bodies just break.

on hellbrute, even tho theres no blue marker, u can still parry its non-red melee attacks, which are pretty much every attack that is not a ground slam with electricity this is true for every melee attackers, as long as theres no red indicator, u can parry it

@@clopes87 melta gun edit: just realized im replying on the wrong topic, thought ur asking bout the core defense mission lol well really on the campaign with the hellbrute, i just melta the swarm too kek, on operation when hellbrute spawns, i focus on melta'ing the swarm first too, i play tactical and vanguard, both have melta gun just hipfire it, and just focus on clearing the swarm, parry the warriors when u can, remmeber to turn to face them to parry, and never lockon cuz u wont be ready to melta the swarm u can also reload while getting more ammo from the ammo box, theres a melta gun from the gun pod in the center the only fail condition of that map is the gaunts, so just focus on wiping them out, they have limited numbers, try to aim so the warriors also get hit by the melta, melta has 100% pierce, the range warriors, just try to dodge them or use cover, u can always dodge after shooting with melta and since u dont have to aim it, u are faster to react i seriously only managed to solo angel of death cuz of melta gun and krak grenades, i alternate between powersword and chainsword but i end up liking chainsword more but i dont think those mattered on my clear, just learning the parry timing is enough on the zoanthrope wave, ignore the sniper warrior, hes easy to dodge and itll take too much time to kill him, there are explosive barrel near him if u really want to down him first, but just focus on clearing the swarm while waiting for the zoan to come close to the platform, then go under it, krak it, then execute, that should clear most of the swarm, if u miss the krak, just reload, the zoan will take too long to kill with normal guns, i got like 30% core hp left by the 2nd wave and just the time it took to execute the zoan put my core down to 14%, so i really only had one shot

The advice to take down Tyranid Warriors is to have patience and play defensively but I have to admit, that when I'm surrounded by a swarm of lesser enemies who continuously attack me I don't really have the patience to wait and parry. In melee I just spam attacks/combos tbh...

Tip number one: u can start execute from a distance. You can cover a surprisingly good distance and the whole animation keeps u in god mode. Pair it with a roll-melee-roll and you can get a killshot as soon as your execution finishes.

Nice guide. A few notes: Don't have to dodge "frequently" to avid the bean cannon. It will train it's sights on you for up to 6 seconds. at anytime during this, as soon as you dodge they will shoot. So you can basically dodge at anytime during that 6 second period to have them shoot & miss. Not sure if this the case on PC, but on console the zoanthropes are bugged, Often times both are armored (even without the green bubble) making it impossible to kill them. Also, they almost never spawn singularly. I've only seen this happen twice & both times as soon as the 1 was killed the other appeared right after. The helldrake is also bugged (on console). 50% of the time the pillars will not block the fire attack. the other 50% of time you will either be safe from the blast (as it's supposed to be) or you are being peppered by ranged minions that often push you out of cover and get you hit by the flame. just fyi.

They need to really tone down how much damage ranged enemies do because this game has no "cover" system and if you have 3 or 4 major enemies (big tyrannids with the burst gun / chaos marines) you will get absolutely shredded in 2 seconds on any difficulty and heavy is the only one who stands a chance bc of iron halo (literally only buys you seconds, and only from enemies in one direction.) I'd argue even the little ranged enemies do too much but at least with them they take armor slow enough that you might be able to replenish it fast enough to keep up. But like fighting a group of enemies and getting shot in the back twice and losing 60% of your health 30 seconds into a run fucking sucks.

I can deal with the ranged damage, what I cannot deal with is the absolute bullet sponginess of the enemies on the higher difficulties. All bolt weapons become useless, melee becomes near-useless, and it's only melta spam and las fusil that can bring enemies down in useful time, but then the bullet sponginess takes its toll by any medium sized encounter wiping out all ammo you had.

regarding Hellbrute Lore while Loyal Dreadnaughts are indeed heroes of their respective chapters , Chaos Dreadnaught do not have such glorious implications they come to be when a Chaos Marine fucks up so tremendously that their Legion decides to punish them wit ''eternal servitude in suffering'' .. a hellbrute is when such a Chaos Dreadnought becomes Possesed by a Deamon Mutating that thing into a Monstrosity of Hatred Flesh and Machine ...given with the Thousand sons that all their ''normal'' marines are basically only Souls and Dust locked in Hexed Armor so that no mutation can occur a Hellbrute of the Thousand Sons is most likely a Chaos Warlock that fucked up as only the Psionicly gifted among the Sons still have their Bodies

Tip for assault class with tyranid warriors from a guy who loves to categorize stuff immediately in his brain. number one: use the thunder hammer yes I know there’s other melee weapons but this one is sick as fuck (also good damage and horde clearing) number two: your fastest bet on killing warriors is a dash attack strike regularly then parry(or dodge! Cause it’s not always a parry!) take your free shot and follow up with a charged heavy usually kills tyrannid warriors in one fell swoop! number three: no matter how fucking fast you shoot a krak grenade will always kill a zoanthrope quicker than your light bolter brother. Number four: the codex may approve of strategy number three but if you are wise DO NOT USE A KRAK GRENADE ON A SCARAB TERMINATOR WITH THE SWORDS. Great vid. Few things that work for me: - Both the carnivex and Hivemind have attacks that can be parried, even without the blue indicator (goes for a lot of enemies). Usually this occurs after the charge and can give you a pistol shot which briefly stuns. - Flamer: when playing melee get close-up, it will do a unblockable close range charge attack. Try walking out before rolling. If dodge instantly the timing is off for a perfect dodge. -Hellbrute: like mentioned with the carnivex; it can be parried even without blue indicator.

If you are playing a Bulwark using the passive that deflects ranged damage, try to keep the Venom Cannon warriors alive, each shot you deflect is like a 10m Grenade going off around you. Also, Zoenthrope's 3 round burst attack can be blocked.

Terms/Horms - while against them (and any enemy) it's good to use gun strikes liberally, unlike parries and executes you don't have i-frames while doing them. As such, even if you need armor you can't just auto-gun strike whenever the opportunity arises, otherwise you'll end up taking more damage than you'd gain. Basically, with gun strikes you do them whenever you can, but not automatically (to be fair, the same can be said for executes; while you very often want to do them the armor-recovery is a resource, so in good squad play you'd definitely let someone else exe if they need the armor). Warriors - ditto to above. If you gun strike at every opportunity on a tyranid warrior, there'll be times where you're losing more armor/health than you gain because ou did it while surrounded, didn't even get the gun strike off because you were interrupted, and just end up in a worse spot. All about picking your spots (it's often good to dodge away from the pack before gun striking for that reason). Specifically for the Venom Cannon variety, unless I'm mistaken if you dodge whenever their training their cannon on you (the yellow beam), they'll instantly fire it - and miss. So it's all a matter of making sure you do it early or just before it fires, rather than trying to squeeze too much time out of it and then getting hit (I mean, time they spent aiming and not firing is time they're not doing anything else, but then they don't do anything else dangerous so why not just dodge early and ensure you're not getting hit). Zoanthropes - going to add this in here, but someone in the comments mentioned using a Krak on them, and it seems like a good tip. If you're playing with bot teammates, they suck at dealing damage in general but especially against pairs of Zoans, because they don't know how to swap to the non-shielded one. So any tip like Kraks that can help a solo player deal with them is welcome! Cultists - apparently any class can kill them by walking into them. Haven't tested this myself yet, but seems like rolling through waves of them would be an effective way to save ammo. Tzaangors - oh good, it's not just me. Chaos as a whole are easier than the tyranids, but my god are the Tzaangors so much more annoying than the Terms and Horms.

@@Stickman0660 I've come a long way in the ~6 days since I posted this comment! =P Tyranids are definitely the easier faction. Shield Zangors are annoying for sure, but Chaos Marines are so god damn irritating, as are Sorcerors and Terminators. I've been doing a lot of Vox Liberatus (op 3) on ruthless as it's one I can do straight up if I get another player or two (or I have a decent run), or one I can speedrun if I have bots - but Chaos definitely does make it more annoying than if it were pure Nids. You're just never safe behind cover because of the Chaos Marine teleports, and they're absolute bullet sponges.

My number one tip is when you find the gene ode that grants 30% xp is to remember that it gets destroyed if whoever holds it goes down; try to allow them to be more stocked with stims and armour buffs and basically do whatever it takes to keep them standing; if you find yourself being the one with it don’t feel bad leaving your team and roll around and keep moving until we spawn back in to protect and clear

Tip: ignore the gaunts and gants for the most part once you kill a warrior they will be out of synapse range and will fall dead anyway. This is for the most part there will be occasions where you have to finish off a few left overs. Someone else noted this but zoanthropes: krak grenades

One thing they could do with an apothecary class is make it when an apothecary interacts with a downed team mate that team mate is brought back with full HPI, also one thing they could do with lightning claws is make them exclusive to the assault and or tactical class and when you equip them you no longer have access to a primary weapon until you equip a different melee weapon

Another helpful tip for the Lictor is if you're a bulwark your perk that incapacitates enemies works on them, so if you perfect parry them with that perk active and not on cooldown you can effectively one shot them.

You can also destroy spore mines by shooting the seed in the middle. It will explode with no effect to you or your mates. Its a little difficult in combat but afterwards, just look for the thing that sort of resembles a coconut in the middle. Give it a blast from you bolter, no more spore mine. In regards to the Tainted Imperium and the Tzaangors, anyone can kill them by either parrying their shot or diving, rolling, or just running through them. Its not limited to the Bladeguard (Bulwark).

Aside from spore mines working as grenades, I don't think enemies have friendly fire damage enabled. They can stagger each other in the same way I can stagger a friendly space marine if a throw a grenade at his feet, but I don't think it's going to hurt. I've had a couple grenades thrown at me before and I haven't noticed friendly fire damage, but I might have to test this out more to be sure.

I have so much more trouble against chaos than tyranids in operations especially playing as Heavy. I always seem to get gradually burned down by ranged attacks. As vanguard you're a lot faster & lunge a lot so you inherantly dodge a lot of stuff just while going about your regular business.

The green wave blast are easier to dodge going forward where everyone messes up is they double tap dodge locking them into a roll which can mess up the timing one dodge hop forward is enough and makes it easier to time the next green wave blast

Shooting the swarm will also prevent them from overtaking you but I don’t think it kills enough to make them leave for a bit, I got softlocked out of the flamethrower so I didnt have a choice lol

the ravener has two variants.. well idk if you would classify it as a variant but one of them leave a trail of slime that will build that meter and poison and blind you, the other doesn’t do that. Also another thing you forgot to mention is that if you try and melee the sorcerers shield it’ll blast you away be give you that debuff that makes you hallucinate lmao

Yeah, last night in a Substantial I was soloing 5 warriors and a swarm of hormagaunts in a corner while my Bulwark teammate was doing god knows what. I kept parrying and getting Gun Strikes but then I would get knocked out of it each time mid-animation.

Just a little counter to your armor tip. DONT always go for gunstrikes. They do not give I frames like executions. Gunstrike in the middle of a swarm will shred that armor you just generated and then some.

Playing thru the Campaign for the 1st time on Vet difficulty cuz game said it was the intended difficulty. Those psychic fuckers are the bane of my existence. Everything goes pretty smoothly until a pair or two of them pops out and I don't have those sticky 'nades AND sprinkle it with those ranged poison dudes coupled a squad or two of those big boy tyranids with a few dozen of fodders cuz why not, right? Everything becomes so hectic and its so goddamn FUUUUUNNNN!!! It feels so frickin cathartic pushing thru such encounters.

Personally I felt if you just fight the Carnifex with melee it make the fight a lot easier cause you can Block most of its melee attacks and prevent it from doing 90% of its move set the only challenge is when it does it two melee swings it will either with no warning immediately pelt you with its ranged attack or a almost impossible to see quick swipe do after its two sweeps just dodge to the side to be safe

One you don't need the Bulwark, all space Marine classes just running turns cultist into paste. 2 you have the lore somewhat wrong on Hellbrutes, as they are used as a form of punishment for the forces of Chaos, not that they are just Dreadnoughts warped by Chaos.

Good video. I didnt really need the tips since I had early access via gold editiom. But I'm on a SM2 binge atm because it's awesome and these are great tips for begginers. The game can be really tricky at times and I love how despite playing the same missions over and over, the varied enemy spawns, classes, and playing with different people leads to some very different experiences. One game it's an absolute walkover. Next I'm carrying a bulwark and an assault as a Tactical because it's a poorly balanced composition and I clutch out a boss kill while they are waiting to respawn. Love this game.

Im still unsure what to do when you're cornered by 4 bonesword warriors and 3 whip ones, anytime i do a gunstrike, the other enemies just kill me, and if i don't, the enemies will still finish me off in the small window after i do a perfect parry. Not sure what to do when the game decides to throw a funny massive swarm at you.

This jump attack 7:35 seems to have a very weird characteristic. If you take it normally like this, it's not so bad. But if you parry it, even if your timing is right, it slams through taking all of your armor and 2-3rds of your health. I originally thought it might be a hidden guard break or something but no, as bulwark you can block it normally with your shield consistently without parry. What even stranger is on several occasions even though it does this to my parry and takes all that health....I still get a gunstrike mark on it?!

Zoanthropes are waaaay too tanky, imo. Even shooting the unshielded one out of the pair wastes so much ammo. They've caused more wipes in my groups than any other enemy type. An Operation could be going extremely well, and then a couple of zoanthropes spawn and we just fall apart. I hate them so much, and will continuously scream from the rooftops that they need to be nerfed to be much squishier than they currently are.
