Don(2006) | Has It Aged Well?

The 1978 Don was a caper movie, which was rare for that era of family audiences. There was no origin story of Don. And Amitabh Bachhan playing a villain titular character also something unheard of. Hence many actors and directors said no this script.

29:00 the painting is 'The Scream' by Edvard Munch. Also Don was awake but pretending to be unconscious when Vijay and D'Silva were inside the room right next to him. So for Don imitating Vijay's dictions and mannerisms makes sense. Because anyway most of the time he was just being himself and only during calls with D'Silva he was imitating Vijay. So I think that area is pretty solid

About Boman irani being cast as Vardhan and not a younger looking actor for that role... In the movie Don has achieved that high level at very young age whereas Vardhan was a part of that syndicate much before him.. so to indicate this .. I think Boman was rightly casted. The difference between old don and SRK wala is that Vardhan was Interpol officer Malik in BIG B wala don.. in new one it was inspector D'Souza

Khaike Pan Banaras Wala didn’t fit even then but especially now that we’ve seen authentic heartland characters it’s super glaring the chasm between the 2 worlds and Farhan’s inability to capture a character from that universe. Farhan just can’t do middle class, working class and tier 2-3 cities or rural characters at all. FK and Kjo have the same universe but Kjo’s rich people are dramatic and ostentatious af while FK’s rich people are cool and understated that’s all

SRK’s Don was well made, sleek and stylish, but it tried to incorporate checkpoints from 78 movie so much that tonal shift was really jarring. It could never reach rush that 78 provided for me! 78 still stands out for me…

Yaar if you guys were on the 50th episode atleast jitne listners hain unko toh acknowledge karte. I just got hooked on to this after the "India Pod Day" but jitne listners hai day 1 se unko to "thanks" bolte. By the way mere "India Pod Day" ke comments ke liye maafi. This is the 8th episode I heard. I was surprised to know that you guys could not appreciate the action sequences. This movie or rather this franchisee by far has had the best action sequence that India film industry could offer. I have been hoping that Excel Entertainment and Vidyut Jammwal can shake hands on a good story with some of the best action sequences...only if their stars cross paths.

The movie wasn't well liked at the time of release. It didn't set the box office on fire either. With each passing year, it seems to be gaining popularity, especially because of people who haven't seen it. Just because of SRK, they think that it's a cool movie; but it's not. It's boring and he didn't fit the role.
