Don should bring this back, I used to love watching Grapevine. Get it going again on your own then you don’t have to have answer to those idiots that run the airwaves. Everyone misses you Don!

This interview is comedy gold. Grapes really was a master of conducting interviews. When I get my talk show back up and running, I'm going to re-create the set of The Grapevine. Thanks for uploading this.

@@FOXLIES There's two types of former player executives. Those that love players that played like them, and those that love players that play a different style. Sadly we now know which one we got.

@@RG-lr4pk Good point. Considering how much of a tough and passionate player Shanahan was during his playing days, it is surprising that the current Leafs are the complete opposite. It might be because today's generation of players don't respond well to a tough love approach or perhaps Shanahan has put too much trust and faith in Dubas. I definitely think he needs to take a more active role with the team. If you compare him to Masai Ujiri of the Raptors, it's the complete opposite. Ujiri is always front and centre and clearly sets the tone and culture of the Raptors team. You rarely see Shanahan in the public eye when it comes to the Leafs.

The CBC is such a disappointment. To have someone like Grapes around for decades and instead of doing their best to utilize his talent and celebrity they bickered with him constantly over hurt feels and drove him away. Nothing wastes talent and success like government oversight.

Don Cherry is the father of Hockey. If you asked every person in the world to name one hockey player / personality, assuming they know what hockey is and assuming they know of at least one player, I bet Don Cherry’s name would be mentioned most in the world and of all-time (or at worst, barely edged out by Gretzky which is just as great compliment as being #1). That firing literally ruined an era we will never have again, tore the hearts out of many lifelong fans, and permanently destroyed a piece of Hockey that consequently created an emptiness in lots and lots of fans that will never be healed. In a way it’s like finding out Santa wasn’t real and Christmas lost that magic and warmth and meaning. Those who were in control of the decisions leading to his dismissal probably have no interest in Hockey and the rich history it has and the many ways it has shaped many Canadians and even Americans and Europeans
