I was never a big fan of country music, but I always admired Don Gibson"s singing. He was a great singer I specally like his Sea of Heartbreak.

Great performance even though he had not fully recovered from a stroke he had suffered sometime earlier. Can you imagine writing TWO country standards both in the same afternoon..... " I Can't Stop Loving You" and "Oh Lonesome Me" ! Most writers dream of writing ONE country standard in their whole lifetime ! Thanks for the post !!

I was privileged to see Don many times as I was stationed at Nashville while in the Air Force 1958 and 1950. GREAT TALENT verry humble individual. Love following his career. Was listening to Ralph Emory the night Don cut "Oh Lonesome Me " and "I can't stop loving you." Don dropped by the studio of WSM while Ralph's show was running live and Ralph played both songs several times while the show was on that night. Wonderful times and wonderful memories.

Most people today do not realize that Sweet Dreams was recorded 3 times before Patsy cut it in 1963 Don (Once on MGM and Once on RCA VICTOR) cut it Twice and Faron Young had a hit with it! Don rerecorded it several times after 1963!
