He had his opponent (Mondale), in the middle of a debate during a difficult election, genuinely laughing out loud. Now that's awesome! As with any politician, plenty of people hated him because of his policies, but even a lot of his political enemies liked him personally. If you're in politics, it really can't get much better than that.

@@elbandido9887 If you embrace democracy then you should lead by example and support countries that support the right to dissent,freedom of speech,freedom to think what you want to think,freedom to worship the religion of your choice etc. If you are living in a country which supports rape,murder,and torture of political dissadents and that country is supported militarily and financially by the US goverment you will not be able to see the benefits of democracy. If you want to support the concept of freedom across the globe a good start would be to not support fascist death squad goverments like Chile ,Guatamala El salvador,South Africa etc.

Only Reagan had such great timing when it came to his one liners! Classic. We will never see a President with such poise.
@GaiaTheorist82
@GaiaTheorist82 5 жыл бұрын
Nearly all of them had great poise. Bush wasn't always the best in front of a camera, but he had his moments. Obama was excellent at delivering inspiring speeches. We look at Reagen in such a glowing light now, not because of what he was (he'd likely not get nominated in this climate) but how people reacted to him. Which was mostly respectful, from both sides of the aisle, because he did the same. In todays climate, he would be dragged through the dirt, and ultimately despised as a result by a large portion. Representation hasn't changed as much as we have... we've become cynical, sometimes hateful, distrusting, and paranoid. Our current representation is an embodiment of that. If we want to get back to respectable candidates, WE have to start with US.

I remember that. It was funny, but the loud noise did not happen by accident; it was planned in advance by Reagan and his staff. Reagan spent his early career as an actor and enjoyed "scripted" moments such as those.

Even if I don't agree with all his views you can't deny the man was a good guy. He did what he thought was best for the people and treated white house staff members very well. @geezusispan I would not want to know ANYTHING about you, and I LIVED WELL during that time ! EVERYTHING was better! I don't know what you were doing then,don't care. I was making good money, and enjoying life to the fullest. (Still am) Guessing you weren't applying yourself well enough. If America sucks sooo bad, then why do people STILL want to come here? Why haven't you left?

@geezusispan the chicks were hotter in the 80s,the music was better, people were dressed better, we laughed at racist and racism because we had no time for it. Most importantly, we were nicer to each other.

@geezusispan you are funny,and so far off the mark!))) "America destroying the environment"!))) You should get out more. The country that is. I've been to countries that don't even rate good enough to be 3rd world. They pump sewage straight into the ocean. I don't think the u.s. is doing that. The real problem with you,is the person in the mirror. Unlike you,and others,I earn my paycheck. Not my fault you have no negotiating skills or financial education. As for death? I've lived long enough to see good people go. I also know that I will be remembered favorably by a select few in other countries, including America. You on the other hand, well, I hope you live many, many years. The reason being,after you depart,it will be as if you never existed. Spoiled,spiteful brats such as yourself, are an ungrateful lot. Watching you struggle with life because you are clueless about everything,is actually quite comical. Stay with the negative thought process, it's easier for you.

@geezusispan ah!! So you DO make money off of other people's hard work!!! Why aren't you a good little slave master. You seem to worry about situations beyond your control. That is a waste of time. I myself,focus on leaving a legacy. I have invested well,and have listened to others who have done the same. Since you own your own buisness,do you advise your "employees" to get ahead in life, or do you just work them like rented mules? I have been fortunate enough to consider employers as mentors. Something tells me you're not of that caliber of employer.
