Don johnson is down to earth but at the same time now confortable in his own skin. I bet he is a good friend to his inner circle and cares about people
@wolfieears1984
@wolfieears1984 3 жыл бұрын
I don't think he cares about his fans though. Everything I've read regarding this aspect shows he wants nothing to do with them. This is a bit off-putting I think and while it's a performer's own choice, I don't think it assists their career. When you look at ridiculously long periods things like Supernatural ran (15 seasons) and such as Star trek and its offshoots, you can see it's because they maintain that "personal" contact with the people who love them. They don't regard them with contempt.

@@wolfieears1984 I just got through reading David Cassidy's autobiography. Cassidy and Johnson were good buds back in the late-'60s when they were both struggling actors. In 1986, when Miami Vice was on a roll, Cassidy approached Johnson at a party, feeling happy to see an old friend after such a long time. DJ totally snubbed him. DJ does seem like a nice guy yet Cassidy wrote that DJ seemed to have an overly-competitive streak as well.

I like what Don said about doing something you love and expect nothing out of it. Too many people worry about the end result of stuff and the fame and forget about what's important about their craft. Don practiced what he preached. He had almost a half dozen canceled pilots and he kept working at it and then came Miami Vice, one of the greatest entertainment pieces ever made regardless of entertainment genre (music, movie, TV). I was about four when this was taped. What a time the 80s was.

Oh my god he can really sing, I was shocked! No wonder why that album went platinum. Seemed like such a well thought-out & extremely personable guy. I have read bad things about Don, when he was on set with 'Miami Vice' how he THEN used cocaine to cope with the feelings of fame, & made havoc for his co-stars. Little did I know he was using & abusing narcotics way before Mr. Johnson nabbed the iconic role of 'Sonny Crockett', very interesting video & interview.

Remember reading that when he got the screenplay for MV, He said, I know that guy,- Sonny's character- and he nailed it. I thought it was a great show, music, acting, even the plots. They took you all over the place. Show was way ahead of its time. IMO

True, but TBF, everyone in Hollywood, even by that point, was aware of BW's reputation as a "dirt digger". So the conventional wisdom was, if you don't want to be asked those type of tough, very personal questions, don't agree to the interview. Makes you wonder just how many celebs declined her invitation over the decades...🤔🤣

Hi coolold85 ! THANKS (!!!) for your valuable comment :). Just my two cents: If a VIP went into an interview with Mrs. Walters he/she knows what will come. Ultimately he/she decides which questions are getting their answers. Mrs. Walters is wellknown for her directly kind. And always the interwieved person is responsible for the replies. To me it is even a sign of strength/toughness to went into an interview with her. No one has to offer what he/she wants to hide. It stays as his own if wanted.

Don auditioned for the role of Lieutenant Starbuck in Battlestar Galactica(1978-79), but lost out on the role because Glen A. Larson felt Starbuck shouldn't have a southern accent. I think Don could have pulled it off had Dirk Benedict hadn't been cast.

I'd like to hear more about his philosophy of life because he sure has lived it - the massive highs and the very low downs and he has come out of it definitely on top. I get tired of hearing the same old questions being churned out - Patti, the Jesse thing, the sobriety, the women......How about how the hell did he persevere to age 34 getting rejected constantly - what did he tell himself after each failed pilot to keep going - I'd sure like to know cos maybe it's something we could all use.

The 80's was such a great time in my life. I was young, healthy and full of life and life was GOOD. There's no such thing as perfection but this was the closest it would get for me. The 90's wasn't bad either but it seems (to me) after 9/11 the world has steadily been in decline. Political correctness, 3rd-wave feminism, politics, sjw's... it seems the whole world has gone crazy and I regularly find myself wishing I could go back in time to the best decade of my life before all this crap ruined everything :>\

You and me both bro..l actually looked a lot like Don Johnson in 1988 (although I was only in my shy 20s) and would run 30 miles a week outside of my regular gym workouts...my Dad's friends and colleagues would ask in wonder if he looked like me when he was my age LOL...funnily enough I didn't even think Don Johnson was that great looking at the time...oh the silliness of youth...
