Johnny Carson is definitely one of a kind and Don Johnson is always polite, funny, and never forgets where he came from. Great actor. I sure do miss the 80's and I especially miss Miami Vice...best show ever made!

Late night TV died with Carson....You never hear him making comedy political.....I lived in Miami from 85-89....We used to see them filming all the time around Key Biscane and Miami Beach....I loved the 80s

I love that he said he wasn't remarrying his ex-wife, that "once was enough." They remarried in 1989, haha.

Yes funny how that turned out. They gave it another try, but it didn't last for good. Nice that they're still friends.

MIAMI VICE was no longer the center of the pop culture universe at this point and by 1987 it was THE DON JOHNSON SHOW.
@jeahavvalentin9806 жыл бұрын
SIKE01 21 Jump Street which debuted in 1987 gave Miami Vice the run for its money and a lot of the women who use to gravitate towards Don Johnson were shifting their attention towards Johnny Depp. While johnny depp was really really young at that time, don johnson on the other hand wasn't exactly a young fresh spring chicken during that time period since he was in his late 30's almost pushing 40

SIKE01 is it just me but why did Don’s hair suddenly resemble a certain MARTIN RIGGS from Lethal Weapon?! Haha even though it was a film I’m sure Lethal Weapon rubbed off a lil on season 4 and 5 especially!

Saw this episode last night on an oldies channel and during the monologue, Johnny Carson mentioned watching Amazon women on the Moon "online". He went on to mention the new show starring Dale Robertson called J.J. Starbuck so I came here looking for confirmation of what I heard. Anyone else have the Monologue portion?
@Merely7 жыл бұрын
6:26 Johnny calls him Jon. Also, in the clip, the town mentioned was changed from Atlanta to Ocala. Not sure why, but it was. True fan here. :)

Big fan of MVice first 2 seasons,but I agree,the show wasnt the same after that. Stories were too deep for a TV show.

The deep stories exposed the corruption in the government that were big players in the drug trade. Unless you wanted light hearted fluff episodes I thought the later 3 seasons were just as good
@AQUAPHREESH1936 жыл бұрын
Heyitzj0sh it’s funny because probably my FAVORITE episode was season 3s walk alone which so uncharacteristic for Vice. Just absolute masterful song selection in opinion. The way that In Dulce Decorum contrasts with the gritty and desperation of Tubbs undercover in that crooked prison was BEAUTIFUL .

You can tell the fame had gone to Don Johnson's head here. He looked very uninterested in the interview.
@itsmiamivicepal86177 жыл бұрын
I thought he seemed nervous and quieter at first during the interview, but loosened up a bit later. It's always interesting to hear some story's from the set on Miami Vice. I'm not sure, I understood, what he meant by "protecting the characters and staying true to them", regarding the personal style?
@TheLewisLegend7 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think he meant that people associated the actors and characters as the same people so if they dressed different it would break the illusion so to speak. For me its a shame this series never reached its full potential.
@itsmiamivicepal86177 жыл бұрын
I noticed in interviews back then, they were often dressed similar to their characters, so peoples reaction to changes in their style shouldn't really have been a surprise for him. The first two seasons were successful and then it went in the wrong direction with too many changes also with Michael Mann leaving. Different directors/producers had different visions for the show, but I read that Dick Wolf was chosen to improve the show story wise, which he accomplished in the third season, I'd say and some episodes of the fourth season. Although I wasn't a fan of the new look and tone of S3.
@TheLewisLegend7 жыл бұрын
Yeah same for me, I felt season 1 was the best season overall, Season 2 started off well but started to become more kid friendly. Season 3 I couldnt get into, season 4 I felt jumped the shark and season 5 was an action adventure cartoon but had some good episodes. I felt they could have just kept the pastel fashion for season 3 and transition to the season 5 jean jacket stuff for season 4. Ultimately the show was a victim of its own success for me.
@itsmiamivicepal86177 жыл бұрын
Yeah the changes were drastic for S3, they should have kept the pastels. But maybe, that was the natural consequence with Dick Wolf taking over. Cause the tone and story's were darker, so I guess the look had to be as well to match that. Personally I can't get into S5. Judging overall luckily each season has around 24 episodes, so there are some good ones to pick from. Also I agree with the last statement.
