This was always one of my favorite songs on passion session. I can't believe it's been, what, eighteen years? I don't I actually heard this until a few years after it came out. I remember learning this song on guitar. What a great tuning. But that segment that starts at 3:10 was definitely the more challenging parts to learn. Then to actually play The song all the way through in time.

I really would argue that guitar construction has improved drastically over the last 20 years. Sure it's subjective. But I think there's a reason that all of these finger style artists are using newly constructed guitars. It's not because of sponsorships or the desire for new gear. I'm pretty sure that these guys are going to use the gear that sounds the best. If old gear and classic Martins sounded better than modern construction, I'm pretty damn sure these guys would be using old Martins. ---- So the fact that all of these CandyRat artists are using modern construction is a testament to the sound of our new gear.

Yeah, all the times playing them you find a vibe of the song that furthers the depth of your original creation. Some of the re-imagined songs from this album have a whole different and more emotional feel to them from when they came out before.

Great piece. I love the level of "business" and that there is no definite "singable" melody. The chords & rhythms hold the piece together in a kind of eclectic way. A lot of skill required to pull this off. Actually, I wouldn't call it a "tune" - which is exactly why I like it ;-) I get more from this piece each time I listen to it.

its most definitely finger-style guitar. However this is sort of a new movement that people like Micheal Hedges (he just comes to mind) started and then folks like Don here and Andy Mckee and hundreds of others have sort of just carried on. I'd call it Contemporary Finger-style Instrumental Guitar. However.....why do we need a name for it? A Neat little box to put it in? Aint no body got time for that shit

I totally understand where you are coming with this song. When I play guitar and I find a groove that is generally fun to play on, it doesn't really matter if there's any real structure. For the guitar player it's more of a rollercoaster ride, and I really think that this is exactly that for Don Ross in this song. Not critiquing the song but more the state of mind of the one playing the song.
