I have been a Bruins fan for over 50 years. I played hockey for 12 years all year round. We want players to get paid what they deserve, but we care about the team winning more. If Swayman holds out and hurts the team, the fans will turn on him. Playing hockey for a living is a privilege; playing for the Bruins is a gift from God!

3-4 year contract. If he hits it big at the end of it, it means he played very well. If he doesn't, you're happy his contract is over. Maybe you can sign him then, either way, you've had 3-4 years to find your next goalie.

This isn’t complicated. Swayman can sign a RFA extension, which is in his best interest. Or, he can “hold out” and harm his own future earning potential. That’s it. There will be no trade. Fans and pundits who think a trade is actually a realistic option… you are all either stupid or naive.

Swayman's agent has to inform his client that the Bruins hold the trump card. Don't sign and they can keep him out of the NHL for 2 years. Swayman will never get an 8 year deal then and he will be perceived, rightly so, as not being a team player. His best interest is to get an 8 year deal, guaranteed at $7-8mil. I have negotiated many, many contracts; you need to know who has the trump card.

Already exhausted by the B’s fans that are shouting “trade him!” Listen, I understand that some fans seem to believe that loyalty matters more to professional athletes than it actually does. You go on living in that fantasy. For those of us that live in reality, Swayman is a Restricted free agent, and it’s in his best interest to sign a RFA contract extension. Trading Swayman now, at a time when most teams have already allocated their salary cap for 2024-25, would be negotiating from a place of severe disadvantage for Boston. STOP the “trade him!” chatter, please. Every time one says that, he or she just makes a gigantic ass out of him/herself.
