I've been fasting and rucking and it's been helping me a lot. Breakfast is usually 4 eggs from the backyard with either half pound of sausage or some toast. Skip lunch. Dinner varies but always has red meat or chicken. 5 mile ruck every other day with 30 pound pack. Been doing this for 2 weeks so far and my endurance has improved, mental health is starting to improve, overall I feel better. Might include weight training soon but I'm not really a fan of it

Yes! Finally someone talking more about fitness. Too many dudes out there spending thousands on kit but their combat cassis is garbage. And stop with the excuses unless you’re physically incapable. I’m 42, married,2 young kids (one with special needs), and work stressful job I hate for more hours that I should. Yet I’m up at 4am 6 days a week getting in 60-90 minutes before everyone wakes up.

4 years ago I broke my knee. Shattered my kneecap in 5 places. Its actually what sent me on a journey of self dependence and eventually my love of firearms and the 2A/prep community as a whole. After a long while of agonizing physical therapy just to be able to move my leg and walk normally, I began my own fitness journey, vowing that I never want to feel that helpless again. This video was a great culmination of all the things Ive learned in the past few years, and confirmation I'm on a good path. I'm 28, and a father of two. If I can do it, ya'll can too. Carnivore diet has been good to me. Take the entertainment factor out of consuming fuel. It's a mindset, but I can go a long time without eating, and eat a days worth of energy in one sitting. I've adapted my body to hardship and discomfort. I'm weak muscle wise, because I've grown slack and I flat can't run, my lungs are broken from bad habits and poison jobs. But- I can walk and toil for hours on end. I'm not looking for friends, just dependable allies. This is a good video.

I found a lot of success tossing in sprints at the end of leg days. 5x10-20seconds full effort with whatever rest. Starting from different positions. Don’t notice any extra wear on the joints since it’s so short. Looks dumb running from the prone on my street but gotta up my bounding distance. 💪

@@lililililililili8667It does because it's considered Anaerobic, which uses a completely different energy system than Aerobic cardio. Anaerobic correlates with "Anabolic" because it taps into readily available sugars and proteins, as opposed to Aerobic which is catabolic, and used body fat and muscle storage to create the needed energy.

Your describing every senior NCO and Officer in the Marine Corps and Army, what do they do? They lead. If you can't run with the youngins or hang with the senior leadership then yes you are absolutely useless. That being said, battles and wars are NOT won by the young trigger pullers. It is the old heads that have the wisdom to point those men. This is the natural progression of the patriarchy. Other then that, you could fill networking, communication and logistic roles.

For starters you have to lose the defeatist attitude. Unless you are completely paralyzed than your entire body is not shot. You may not be able to do certain things, but that's not an excuse to neglect functions that still work. If walking or running is a problem, then swim. If lifting is a problem, then do bodyweight calisthenics. Maybe you can do some things like bench press, but need to supplement heavy squats with wall squats from a knee injury.

I’m with you. Mid-summer last year I came to a realization that I better get more physically capable for what ever comes my way. I’ve always been in good shape,(great compared to some), can still run a 5k. I still have endurance but need to work on strength. I work a very physical job, but knew I needed more. I quit alcohol all together, started working out routinely, already had a healthy diet. I’m 49, 5’10” @ 155# and deal with a herniated disc L5. No excuses, I’ve worked through the pain and found ways to manage it. I’m going to take your advice on the workout and rest plan, my biggest hurdle is eating enough, I burn cals so fast it’s hard to consume the amount of food needed to add weight and I’m already tracking 175 grams/day average, about 40gr or less per serving. 🔥

I'm 6'2" 210 but haven't worked out consistently in a few years. I just started up my pushup, 35lb sandbag squats, 15lb kettlebell shoulder and back, and crunches workout. 2 mile walks with my dog. 4 eggs with chicken breast for breakfast, 4 slices of bacon and 1 chicken breast for lunch, and a 10oz steak for dinner. Basically killing carbs and moving to utilizing fat as my energy source. Salt, AG1, Creatine, Magnesium supplementation. 1 gallon essentia bottled water throughout the day. 1 week in and my energy is way up, I'm not having weird cravings and I just feel better. My goal is to lean out, get rid of inflammation and build muscle definition. Thanks for all your videos man

Getting there myself, I started a detailing business a few years ago and was still good with the gym for the beginning but as things picked up I started working 12-16 hour days 6-7 days a week and slowly backed out. Lately I’ve just been hitting the treadmill with my gear and doing bodyweight workouts before and after work just so I can get something in and my posture is much better (im a skinny guy) eventually I’m going to get back to the weights but I’m using this time to get used to being sore so I don’t over do it and mess with my work flow. But learning to balance these two things is a challenge you have encouraged me to keep at and I appreciate it bro

Im the exact opposite of the gear fuds, besides working out 5 days a week and walking a few miles per day with my dog, instead of buying all the gear , i have basic firearms (9mm and 5.56 both with irons) and put all of my focus on skills and knowledge and physical ability. Besides sh00ting , ive always dabbled in wilderness and urban survival (from 2011-2018 id spend a year outside, a year inside and did that continuously to make myself comfortable being uncomfortable, learning urban foraging , have spent many years in the woods so wilderness skills have been locked down) my current shtf learning is for stealth and keeping myself alive beyond food water and shelter. Having gear is great im sure, but having the ability to last and be an efficient person without it has always seemed a lot more productive to me.

This is good for a lot of people. It is probably the one area I actually don't need instruction in (but I will listen because there is always a possibility of learning something new). I think you need to be able to sprint, and everyone should do martial arts. It helps your physical abilities in a gun fight as well as increase awareness, reaction time, and the ability of dealing with the stress of someone else trying to kill you and remaining more or less calm in spite of it. Don't just train with guns.

I used to run modified "murphs" every day while I was enlisted. I swapped reps for clicks. I had predominantly running days and days where I added weightlifting [primarily deadlifts]. I got myself up just under 200lbs of beef at 5'10" while being able to run a marathon in kit. My fastest mile was covered in 4m37s. I could punch out 120 push ups straight and I was able to hold a squat so long I never hit failure [though, now that I think of it, I never tried.] After I got out I threw my back out while working in an airport warehouse up in the arctic. Spent the first six months after lying flat on the floor with no pay coming in. Now I get winded climbing stairs and can barely clear 20 pushups. Though, I'm getting back to it slowly. Picked up a medicine ball recently and I'ma get me a pull-up bar and maybe a rowing machine soon so I can rebuild my back and get back to it.

The heaviest thing I moved was a roll of chainlink fabric. Probably 180 poinds. It was laying on the ground, I stood it up, got my shoulder under it, lifted and laid it on my shoulder. Carried it 125 feet. I wasn’t going to do it twice. Mostly out of comfort. Metal fabric sucks.

Something that needs to be mentioned. Getting in shape, packing on muscle is calorie intensive in a true shtf scenario where you will be rationing food. If you're eating 3500-4500k calories a day when times are good, you're going to need that in shtf to keep your muscle and fitness to fight marauders in minecraft. 4 mo supply of food needs to be pushed to like 2 yrs, lots of calorie dense protein needed. If you're eating 3-5x daily, that just may not be realistic to continue, so be as strong and fit as possible yes, but realize you're going to lose muscle mass after a certain period. How much strength can you maintain when you're rationing and how combat effective can you become when doing with less. Just my .02

18:6 Intermittent fasting, high protein/low carb paleo diet, tracking calories for a daily 600-1000 calorie deficit, and taking OTC high dose vitamins and supplements under the supervision of a functional medicine doctor worked for me. Reversed type 2 diabetes, hypertension and fatty liver disease and lost 103 lbs in a year. Now maintaining completely healthy blood work with nothing but diet and over the counter omega-3 and nitric oxide supps. Getting out and training with a local group was a huge eye opener for me. Doing IMT training I realized I could barely stand back up from prone while wearing plates, and was determined to correct it. Now down to 16% bf and continuing to come down every week. Anyone can do it. You just can’t half ass it. Count every calorie, wear a Fitbit or something to track calories out and track calories in with my fitness pal or the Fitbit app. Not that hard once you figure it out.

Dr Mike over at Renaissance periodization advocates for the push legs pull order of operations. I basically do starting strength mwf, tth is accessory movements upper body or calisthenics. Every warmup is 15 min that starts with a walking stretch to run a mile and bw squats. If the weather is decent I hike on the weekend, typically 4-10miles depending on how much time I have. I am slowly adding weight to the pack, going from a civilian day hiking bag up to an assault pack loaded with what the Internet tells me I am supposed to have. My compliance rate is probably 65-75%. I miss the AM workout if I have late night meetings with the offshore team, which is project dependent. I want to get into fighting training, but scheduling in the evening is tough with work. It's easier to be consistent in the AM. I have been doing basically this for ~15 years. Sometimes more, sometimes less. I am not very strong, can't run fast anymore, but I still smoke younger tik tokers on the local trails carrying nothing but a bottle of water. Murica is in a sad state.

💪I'm fat, I'm overweight. I'm fully aware. I've been watching Trench's channel and subscribed for the last 1.5 month or so. Started going to the gym/woods 4-5 times a week religiously. I don't want to be someone's loot drop. Thanks Trench.

I lift 6 days a week and I’m bulking for winter. One extremely important thing I’ve got to work on this year is cardio. No less than 3 times a week no matter if I’m bulking cutting or maintaining

💪🏻 I always take care of my meat wagon, I have done strongman work outs and power lifting. At 36 in the last 6 months cleaning the diet up and doing more kettlebell workouts and hiit train, running/sprints. It’s hard for me but has been great. Always want to be an asset for my people.💪🏻

To me a serious injury is crippling ones, like blowing your acl or rotator cuff. Anything that requires surgery to fix. Those are difficult to heal (but doable).🔥

Weight loss is a journey. It will test physical and mentality. Teach you how to work for what you want. Hard work shows. 8 years of workout 4 to 5 days a week. Down 100 pounds. Just diet and exercise. I put years back on my life.

🔥 Definitely motivated to stop being a mushy turd! Let myself go for 10 years but last year i determined to make a change. Im down 70 lbs from where i started. This year is all about fitness and movement. My initial goal is to be able to move with my gear on (about 40 lbs incl water and loaded mags) for 5 hrs. So no more skipping leg day! Right now im up to 2.5 hrs. Btw, im almost 58 with arthritic knees so it is possible... It just sucks! Right now i concider myself combat ineffective but im working on it one day at a time💪 I dont want to be the dude left back at camp digging fighting positions and latrines while the fit guys are out on mission!

Accountably, like Trench said look at those around you. Do you love them? Would you do anything to see them thru? Then why not take our own health seriously. You will even notice those around you changing for better as well. Positive is infectious, just like laziness. I was a complete shit bag on PT the first year and some change. My biggest problem as cornbread feed country kid was running. Like Goggins says, “…triple down on your weakness cause we all know what we’re good at.” If you’re squared away in other fields shoot, tactics, etc and you absolutely suck at PT then you already know what’s lacking. It shouldn’t take a loved one, NCO, or what figure in your life to motivate us. We can watch motivational or workout videos all day but it’s down to us as the individual at the end of the day to plant the seed, water, and reap a harvest. No one will do it for you. Trust in yourself and let nothing be an obstacle. Stay lethal everybody! 💪

Trench Grenade, when I started to exercise again I decided to take the SF and Ranger PT (the new Ranger PT is awesome) but I use these to keep in shape. Though I can’t do a 7.5 min mile anymore but I agree if you don’t exercise you are just dead weight

The last 6 months I was drinking really heavily on the weekends. Trying to keep my fitness up during the week thinking I would be OK. I plateaud in the gym ultimately lost strength and gained 30 pounds. Now I'm sober again down 15 and hitting it harder than ever. Don't lie to yourself. Guys put alcohol to death or it will put you to death

Actually 3 days a week of Vigorous PT can get you squared away. Just make sure that each work out smokes you pretty much. If you can only get out and walk, walk vigorously at least 4 days a week for 20 minutes. Keto, resistance training, and some cardio will make you into a new animal. Great video BTW.

I appreciate the content trench, I had really started to let myself go, started gaining weight, but then I watched one of your videos and you said “you’re wrong go do pushups. You’re gonna fuckin die.” That’s the motivation we need. Since then I’ve started getting back into working out on a daily basis, rebuilding that fitness and starting to lose the gained weight. I plan on keeping it going and not letting myself slack off again. 💪🔥
