The whole "Lestat Lestat Lestat Lestat" acting from Assad is so so so good and them mocking each other's accents is such deserved Emmybait. The whole Hannibal Lecter sadism of Armand torturing Daniel while screaming "This is fine," is so mesmerizing. His obsession with the word "fascinating" after being called boring...The echos of dialogue like "What happened next?" which just so lovingly mocks the original text. I hope that the, "You're going to teach me how to be fascinating..." is a teaser for more Devil's Minion.The sound design is also really significant this episode with those three solid notes reflecting when a memory is being edited. About Daniel and the journalism of it all: I think he would have continued regardless. It's the one thing that was clear that he at least enjoys the people aspect of the work. To me it's such a beautiful moment between him and Louis because those words gave him something to hold onto even through his worst moments. It's the voice that prompted his sobriety and the one that pushed him towards the long/successful career he had. It shows Louis's compassion and ties the two together in a way that's very heartwarming.

@roseofthegarden_5 ай бұрын
@@AutumnBottomBrown Yeah that's what it was. It's why Daniel was so emotional. Because even when he broke up two marriages, lost his daughters and felt at his lowest, he never stopped being a journalist, he never doubted himself, because Louis words, the words that he wasn't nothing; that he was a bright reporter with a keen mind and there are still stories to be told, that's what held him on and kept him clinging to life, his lifeline. In the depths of despair and loss, it can be easy to forget or even lose who you are or forget why you're even alive anymore. Louis words were the anchor that echoed in his mind, reminding him of his reason. It's such a beautiful and profound moment to know that Louis was there for him when he most needed it, even when he wasn't physically present, even when he didn't realize it was Louis who said these words to him. It's also such a beautiful circle moment, because Daniel started this series being pretty bitter of Louis because of their last time together when the last thing he recalled was being bit by him and that being his last memory of him, to now realizing that Louis had been his anchor to life, to remembering who he was and why he walks this earth-his passion, his craft, what built him up and kept him going, even when the world was pulling him down. ❤

The only thing I wasn't on board with was Armand leaving Louis in pain just because he was hurt, but like Louis has said, vintage Lioncourt, so he at least knew on some level what Armand was capable of. And the end, well, THE GIRLS ARE UNIONIZING. LOUIS'S PISSED. ARMAND BETTER RUN.

TALK TO ME!!! I’ll pick up on your telepathic thoughts like Armand did with Lestat. This show does SUCH an adept job at not painting anyone as an outright villain or completely in the wrong in any given circumstance which I can never commend enough. Both Louis and Armand had faults here, and the fight- just like Louis and Lestat’s- were inevitable, but it doesn’t lessen the repercussions of both.

@@AutumnBottomBrown you are absolutely right! And just as a silly aside, the next time I get into an argument with someone, I'm going to have to refrain from saying "picking lint off the sofa?!" and making Louis's face, and laughing my butt off in the middle of a serious argument. I'm going to have to resist picking a fight just so I can say it lmaoooo. *don't pick a fight with your brother, self. Don't pick a fight with your brother, he's bigger than you are*

Louis is that friend that break's up with the guy, but spends every moment annoying everyone around them talking/ complaining about that same guy. I just love poor broken Louis. He is just really deep down wants Lestat to come rescue him from Armand. BTW, Jacob’s performances are amazing this season. He is able to make you fall in love, hate, be upset, feel sorry for and every other emotion for Louis. This is superb acting.

Louis really went from one powerful and controlling partner to another, more powerful and clingy partner with several centuries’ worth of abandonment issues. What a mess! The clones are coming, yeeeessss 💜💜💜 It's their first interview together I think? Can't wait!!! And you're right, Emmys for all of them, dammit!!! 🏆 This one hit hard personally and it also linked to some other favorites of mine like Vanilla Sky, True Blood, Get Out, and the 1994 reference 💜 It's been almost 2 days, my head is still buzzing, full and tangled, but: - How do we know what Lestat said? - Why didn't Louis want to hear what he had to say? - What will make DM happen? I think there's a lot between SF-Dubai still! Not to mention Paris-SF! - Will Loudanny (or whatever the name is) remain besties? I hope so! And a million other comments and questions 😅 Great intro, as usual 👌🏼🤣

I love your reactions and insights into the episodes. I'm watching new episodes each week with my friends and we discuss what happened, but then I watch your videos to check if we missed sth I'm soo happy that the show gives so much time to Armand, he was always my favourite from the books (like I skipped two books to read The Vampire Armand faster) and I feel this show understands why; he can be so sadistic but at the same time so easy to understand, because he has so many flaws. The fight between him and Louis was perfection and I can't wait for the moment that Lestat will be added to this mix 😅

I really do believe the reason Louis feels Armand is boring is because he gets his mind wiped every time they get into a fight big enough to break them up. If all the hills and valleys of their relationship are sanded away every day can only be bland.

Unrequited love all 'round. Armand, what a mindf*cker. I 'm beginning to think that he doesn't really love Louis and took what Lestat wanted in the '70s and stayed with him still since Lestat still loved Louis. Now, Armand realises that there is no love left in their relationship. I mean, Louis was doing the same thing back in the '70s as Lestat was doing to him in the '20s & '30s. Hopefully, Armand & Louis can end this relationship amicably. I don't think Lestat has reformed either however. Everyone in this show needs therapy! Except Santiago. He's perfect.
@AutumnBottomBrown5 ай бұрын
Louis turning into what he quote unquote despised about Lestat is one of the best things that was shown in this episode!!! I unfortunately didn’t get the time to talk about it more in this video, but it’s SO FASCINATING how he’s absorbed that part of Lestat (or at least what he remembers of Lestat) into himself and projected onto others. Making Armand “the housewife” that he used to be. But I digress. I think Santiago could benefit from some therapy, but he’s living life so fabulously, why do anything to disrupt that.
@myridean2k45 ай бұрын
@@AutumnBottomBrown Santiago has conflict issues with the "boss" Armand. But his maker (I need to consult the Anne Rice Companion because I can't remember Santiago's maker's identity. Of course, I didn't care about him that much until Ben "brought him to life".) That being said, the one thing that actors didn't like is aging, not because of getting old, but getting the lead roles, 20 years later, he'd be getting roles as "Wise Old Man", ie. Prospero in "The Tempest". But relegated mostly side roles now if he were still alive, not to be Hamlet anymore but his ghost father, Claudius, or Polonius instead. Theatre de Vampires is that he'll never stop being the lead or aging out of good roles. There's an appeal to that. And on top of that, the gift of mimicry enables him to improve his acting technique. Of course, with Claudia, stealing the limelight, from his perspective, she's got to go. Number one rule in acting: never work with animals or small children. They'll totally upstage you. ^.^

So just how long has Armand been pulling all these strings and to what extent. It’s like he’s still directing theatre except the stage actors and plays have evolved into a scripted reality and Armand is the man behind the curtain……. Until Lestat comes busting in and flips the entire script upside down…… Unless I’m mistaken and just overthinking

We see Armand erase Daniel's memories and Louis' compulsion drive Daniel's career. It's tragic how Daniel achieves success at the cost of his family. He's compelled to be a workaholic, losing sight of what truly matters. Anne Rice brilliantly captures this real-life struggle of workaholism, where we sacrifice what truly matters for success. While we may not be compelled by vampires, society's institutions often drive us in similar ways, pushing us towards certain paths and shaping our lives. Unanswered questions linger: Did Lestat, whose presence is hinted at in the 1994 movie adaptation, find them after Armand contacted him? Did Armand erase both Louis and Daniel's memories due to a conflict with Lestat? Eager to see how the show navigates this!

Yes. . . this show keeps getting better and better. And that Louis and Armand fight. Only someone close to you can dig that deep with those insults. Lestat said the same thing at the end of movie version about Louis whining for centuries (lol), and now Armand uses that in their fight. I know we all knew or a lot of us knew Armand was using mind manipulation gift. And then Armand using the telepathy with Lestat. Oh, I totally thought he was going to be in SF breaking down the door at the end of the episode, but maybe we will have to wait. Yes, Louis was complaining about Lestat the whole time, but yes, he is his maker. Also, I think Armand needs to be united with his maker. Marius because he told the story a little differently at least in the books anyways. Minds are being messed with. Its been said in interview Point of View very important. And Daniel even mentions in this episode his Point of View matters, too.

This show should sweep the Emmys. Seriously. *Especially* Jacob and Assad for this episode (with a special mention to Luke). Unfortunately, they have stupid f*cking arbitrary rules about how many episodes have to air before a certain date and because of the strike, they got behind, so now the greatest show on tv gets *nothing*. Why aren't people watching it? Because AMC is cheaping out on advertising and the people who would really appreciate this show the most don't know that it's not some cheesy CW shlock. It is a f*cking artistic *masterpiece* and the world needs to know that.

it hurts my heart to its very core that this show isnt being marketed properly. breaking bad only got its recognition post s3. they need to submit to emmys and make it available on other platforms. they need to have its pictures everywhere. good scenes need to be on twitter/insta/tiktok posted by people who talk abt shows and movies. this brings in A BUNCH of more viewers! merch too! its PEAK television! they cant go on letting it have just our cute small community. 💔♥️

I definitely feel like it’s going to be a slow burn, word of mouth show that picks up a big following after season three or so. It was the same with Succession, I feel like hardly anyone talked about it until the third or fourth season and EVERYONE was watching it. I do hope they get it on other streaming sites because that’s really the best way to get people to tune in.
