I was walking home from school in Birmingham, England in 1986 aged 7 and I found a cassette tape on the ground. Guess who it was. I'd never heard of Elvis. I played that tape a thousand times in my childhood. Been a fan ever since. Never heard anyone like him. I went to Graceland to say thank you for all the happiness he's given me.

I was twelve years old. You cannot Imagine how I felt. It is the first memory of music for me. I never paid any attention to music before ELVIS. I woke up that night . I fell in love with Elvis. I love this song so much. Then and now he gives me chills. He was such a sweet talented charismatic man. He was so good looking so sexy and such a giving person. He gave away cars homes and money. I will never forget Elvis Presley!

I've always found it remarkable how much he enjoyed doing what he did. His smile was obviously infectious, but he just smiled ALL the time. His singing was so effortless...he could burst out the biggest note with the biggest smile on his face and he was always searching, for a member of the audience, a band member or a backup singer to make that personal connection with the song he was performing...sometimes because of the lyrics but most of the time, just to make sure those around him were enjoying what was going on as much as he did. There are, of course a few exceptions when the song just meant so much to him, his heart took him to a different place ("If I Can Dream" and "In the Ghetto" come to mind). I hope he knew that even 43 years after, that he was still giving us as much joy and we love him just as much now as when he was here with us, because he sure did feel that way about us. Thanks again Dani. I'm so thankful to have found your channel.

His sense of timing for music was at its best when he was young who he was and being in touch with his true roots will always be in his early days that's when he was happiest definitely when he was at his best when he got older The voice mature for certain songs which was great his true greatness and iconic state will always be in the fifties and the early the 60s too bad his manager made him something he wasn't this is a classic song number one on the charts 1956 good performance by Elvis great reaction video have a good day ✌🏼👍🏼✋😃

Ah the young man who would become a King in what I believe would be his "purest" form, long before Vegas, Hollywood (and Tom Parker of course) would corrupt Elvis, his beautiful voice and potential talent. I saw an interview Elvis gave one time where he said "he always thought the attention and the way the audience reacted to him was funny to him", But he still greatly appreciated it and was grateful for their love." While I am old as dirt itself it would be embarrassing to reveal my true age, but I WILL say that my mother was playing Elvis records to me, in the womb and I've been amazed by his overwhelming talent for over 50 years now. I am from Tennessee, so it is the law here that you MUST Love Tennessee Football, and Elvis, or you will be forcibly removed from the state and asked not to come back, lol.

I've been a fan since I saw this performance Sunday evening, September 9, 1956 on my Grandparents' TV. I was also 8 years old at the time. Saved the change I made running errands for my mother until I had enough to buy Elvis' first album (which was the first record album I ever bought). A lifelong fan, I was inspired by his music to learn to play guitar and sing. While I didn't actually pursue a career in music, there were times when I survived playing clubs and coffee shops, and no matter how many years later, or what was popular at the time, I always kept a few Elvis songs in my sets, even up to now.

Musically, I can only think of a young Frank Sinatra as an earlier heart throb and then there’s the great movie star that is James Dean who Elvis was greatly influenced by. However, I can’t think of any heart throb as beautifully sculpted, sincere, humble and polite as Elvis. It’s what made him stand out!

Dani Atkinson 1956 was the first year of tv appearances for Elvis...he had already appeared on Dorsey, Berle, Allen..this was the first appearance on Ed Sullivan..and he’s introduced by the classic actor Charles Laughton who was filling in for Ed...and no this isn’t the censored appearance...it’s a little later on the Sullivan show which you should check out...and he sings Don’t be Cruel without the guitar...and yes Elvis was the first heartthrob of the rock era...you still have a lot to learn...but it’s all good.

When Elvis came on the scene in the 1950s he was an atomic bomb that detonated in music...But it wasn't destruction that he caused, it was a breath of fresh that entered music and changed it all, inspired many, open the doors for many and assured rock and roll as a force to be dealt with. Elvis didn't single handedly invent rock and roll, but if hadn't been for him, rock and roll may very well have been short-lived and simply went away by the end of that decade. Rock and roll was under attack and lot of people were trying to annilate that new form of music, but Elvis' appeal was just too strong. Everybody involved in rock and roll up to and including today owes Elvis a debt of gratitude and many have said that . Long live the originator and the king of rock and roll, Elvis Presley!

Miss Atkinson, I am new to your site. But allow me to say that it is amazing to me at times as to how Elvis continues to transcend generations. His style, his look, his attire continue to influence. And when someone such as yourself, who has a musical background, can find herself inpressed by a performance that is 64 years past. That speaks volumes!!!!!!. My appreciation to you, for I am a life long fan of this man, for acknowledging the entertainer. But more importantly, for also acknowledging the person. An image is one thing, but ultimately it is the heart of the person that I believe, leaves the most lasting impression. Continued success with your site. Sincerely, Mike Beal

I love watching you watching (and of course hearing) Elvis! It's like looking in the mirror. You are of course more beautiful than me, but in my mind i see me watching him in a movie for the first time. It was VLV i guess and it was love at first sight. He was so handsome. Later i found out that this gorgeous man could also sing! 😂 Didn't realized it when i saw him first, because i was so distracted from his face ;-)) You are right, he was so young here, and the success came like an avalanche. How could a young guy handle such a huge success, with all the screaming girls, the money. One day he couln'd even afford a new suit and the other day he could buy his mom a new Cadillac! It must have been overwhelming! The kids were totally overwhelmed by him, and he was totally overwhelmed by the success. Sometimes i think everything was too big, too fast, too much. Anyway, we all are glad and thankful that we had him here for a short time and he left his mark, and this mark is unerasable! Hugs to you Dani and take care! 🍀

My much older sister (already an adult) gave me a record player for my 6th birthday, and some old record albums and 45's. One of the albums was the soundtrack from one of his early movies, Loving You. I loved him the instant I heard his voice and saw his beautiful face. I liked many popular songs growing up but he's the only artist I can say that I loved everything he did. He was it and no one could compare. He could have sung from the back of a cereal box and made it sound good.

WHILE IN THE AIR FORCE I GOT TO SEE ELVIS IN LAS VEGAS IN AUGUST 1969. ELVIS DID A LOT OF GOOD SONGS PRODUCTION NUMBERS IN HIS MOVIES. THIS WAS NOT HIS FIRST TV APPEARENCE, THE DORSEY BROTHERS WAS HIS FIRST. HE APPEARED 3 TIMES ON ED SULLIVAN SHOW AND THIS WAS THE FIRST ONE AND THE SHOW WAS IN NYC AND HE WAS REMOTE FROM CALF. LATER SHOWS THEY FILM HIM FROM THE WAIST UP WHEN ED SULLIVAN CAME BACK FROM A CAR ACCIDENT. THERE A LOT OF SONGS UNDER PURE ELVIS WERE THEY REMOVE MOST OF THE BACK UP SINGERS AND INSTRUMENTS AND JUST HIS PURE VOICE ALL ON YOU TUBE, THEY PUT OUT 3 CD'S DOING THE PURE ELVIS. Hi Dani, no one before or since had that attraction. The world had never seen a love for an entertainer like this or and entertainer loving his fans such as this. This was ALL new!!! He just stopped and they screamed and hollered. Also another good one is Stuck On You , just getting out of the army he appeared on the Frank Sinatra show. He is the main attraction. It's called a Welcome Home Special. They also do a duet and Frank does some of Love Me Tender and Elvis does one of his, I think it's called Witchcraft, and they scream and holler every time Elvis sings and don't hardly do anything for Frank. That tells you the magnitude and attraction he had. What really got me started was All Shook Up.There is a neat story how he came up with the title of this song, I may have to tell sometime. I was about 13. We've got to do this-highly requested. He does do it in concerts but just the audio alone is good. Thanks!!!

I've been a fan since I was 12(I'm 78 now). Elvis was so good that my Dad hated him. I remember the day when Dad said "OK, I think he's a pretty good singer. I just don't want to look at him." BTW, my Mom loved Elvis. My bedroom walls were covered with pics of him. I'm so grateful to have lived through that era.

if you ever have the time listen to THE MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET its on youtube somewhere. No film but the audio is priceless. legends Elvis, Johnny cash, Carl Perkins and Jerry lee Lewis. Elvis style, charisma his versatility and supreme talent just jump out of the speakers. And all at the very start of his fame.

This was mid to late ‘56 so he’d already made waves on the Stage Show, Milton Berle and Steve Allen tv shows...this was actually a video link up with the New York studio as he was in Hollywood filming Love Me Tender. He thanks British actor, Charles Laughton, at the start as he was presenting The Ed Sullivan show due to Sullivan himself recuperating from a car accident...

Hello this is my 1st time posting anything on these world wide webs! I really enjoy your reviews of Elvis. His 1st appearance on tv was the Dorsey Bros show. I think you'd enjoy his renditions of Money Honey and Tuitti Frutti. Thanks and keep the faith and doing what you're doing, it's great!
