Elvis was a personal friend i met him in the early 70's won a radio show contest and the prize was a day with Elvis. He was a genuine man sweet kind and gentle man i was taken with him so fast we became instant friends. I walk past Graceland everyday without fail. My heart is forever broken. I loved your reaction to Elvis he loved to joke and play jokes on his friends he was super fun. Hope you enjoy all of his music. Love from Memphis Tn. and Elvis Presley Blvd.

I think the difference is todays entertainers try to see how far they can go with vulgarity for shock value. Elvis moved like he did because the music and the rhythm was in his very soul and core. There was nothing contrived about it. They wanted to film him from the waist up and made fun of his pelvis and threatened to arrest him for indecency and all that but he was being himself. If he couldn’t move, he couldn’t sing. It came from the roots of his influences, the southern black baptist church gatherings he’d sneak into when he was 12 years old and he felt their music in his soul and tremble and move and shake and sweat and fall to the ground with everyone else.

@@johnnyparsnips7641 the conservatives of 1950's America considered his first non-sexy moves vulgar. His 1970's dance moves were NOT at all vulgar. The men in the audience loved his show as much as the ladies.

I lived in Las Vegas as a child growing into a adult when Elvis open at the Las Vegas Hilton in the 70s and was very very fortunate to see him three times. Elvis always gave his heart to the people no matter who you were he brought you into him and you always came away with a sense up who he was. He was not only just an Entertainer to the people that followed him he was a part of their life. A lot of the moves that you see on stage was because he was a black belt in karate. It was truly one of the highlights of my life seeing the king ProForm. And a lot of us knew exactly where we were and what we were doing when his passing was announced. It was truly like you lost one of your own family members.

The Colonel wanted prevent this version and Elvis was very upset about the Colonel's interference! Elvis insisted on this version and here we can see and hear why! It is one of my favorite live perfomances from 1970 in Vegas! Polk Salad Annie is another great performance, silly song but the performance is unbeatable and a masterpiece in my eyes! He was a very hard working man, but he loved what he was doing, it's obvious! Thanks Dani for another great reaction, you're love for this man's passion making music is the same love i feel since i'm eleven years old! And i always wanted to hug him, too! When he turned toward the band he was looking at drummer Ronnie Tutt. They did their best to keep up with the other. Ronnie said it was like performing with a stripper in keeping up with Elvis's movements. As was shared previously by a learned fellow the King performed 2 shows a night at the casino and some occasions three. Probably unheard of today. So you can image how by 1972 he was already bored with Vegas. Keep it up! TCB

Dani, this is my favourite song of all time, more specifically the studio version. The original not the radio cut. It was probably his longest hit and it’s quite unique not only for the change in time signature but also the song fades out at the end but before it goes completely silent fades back in. I think it’s amazing. The performance is great and, as a man who’s loved him for over 40 years, I absolutely love your enthusiasm for him. X

Its been a while since I have seen the performance on film, but I think he had just completed a walk on the floor with his fans and came up to sing this song. That song? Everyone liked it. It was a #1 hit in 69. You ma'am have great taste.

The King, The best version, before my time but my mom was a huge Elvis fan and I still remember as a little kid when the news came he died, it’s was same with Diana, it was a trigger memory in time never to be forgotten. Great entertainer like him or not probably the best ever.

I get such a kick out of watching your reactions. I watched your post on Polk Salad Annie then came straight to this one. I agree he’s at his peak here. I remember seeing Elvis, That’s The Way It Is when it came out in the theaters. There are two versions of it out on DVD. There are enough differences in the two to warrant buying them both.

Dani Atkinson Lemme know what you think. The second one was remastered by Turner. It cut out a lot of the fan interviews and added a few songs not on the original. Sadly, they also deleted a few on the second one, such as Bridge Over Troubled Water. That’s why I have both, so I can get as much of those concerts as are available.

Just an added comment for those that don't know......When he was on Ed Sullivan, 1956, for the first time, he had 80% of the television sets watching him that night. When he had the comeback special, he had 68% of the Country watching him that night. "On January 14, 1973, Elvis Presley made history as the first solo entertainer to hold a live concert broadcast internationally via satellite. More than a billion people from more than 40 countries across Asia and Europe tuned in to watch "Aloha from Hawaii." AND YES PEOPLE, I SAW ALL THREE, first one at 15 years of age. My mother went nuts.

Love your reaction. You know, a lot of people at the time thought Elvis in Vegas was a joke and didn’t give hime a lot of respect, but in 1970 he was still in his prime and had put together an incredible band of musicians and backup singers. Looks like it would have been a really fun show to see and the stage layout back then was very intimate.

My mom wasn't a huge fan of Elvis', but she did always say he was sexy as all hell (yep, she's country). She was in love with Tom Jones. ... I was forced to both of their concerts as a kid. T.J. ripped his pants. And it was Elvis' second to last concert, that I saw in Cincy. ... Stay cool, and stay adorable, Miss Dani. Sincerely, K.M. ....... P.S. - I grew up loving Elvis more and more after seeing him live. ... Just thought I'd add that. B^) ... TCB (RIP)
