@GreggsonWongАй бұрын
Hawaii, we call'um "off da lip."🤙 Tip: one needs to drive your bottom turn and smash through the lip, with fins out of the water.😅 If you're going to just do a floater. You need to get practice overweight on the bottom turn and underweight "pop" with knees in a tucked position, to "float" off the top. Think of the maneuver like jumping & tucking your knees at the top of your jump, very similar to what you're trying to accomplish. Everything that I'm talking about can be accomplished on a 12 ft board... Good luck.
@LongboardSessionsАй бұрын
Oh nice!! haha i'm struggling with a 9'2.. i'll have to hold off on the 12 footers !
@GreggsonWongАй бұрын
@@LongboardSessions I only mention 12 footers because it’s an extreme example. You can also do what I explain on a 5 ft board too, another extreme, on the opposite end of the spectrum.
@Tyler_Livin_Ай бұрын
You’re videos make me wanna longboard. Been striving for short boarding but looking at things a little different. Just bought second hand 9ft softtop hopefully an get hard board for summer🤙
@LongboardSessionsАй бұрын
oh that's awesome!! 9' softy is a good start, but yea see if you can get a traditional noserider in the arsenal!
@breortАй бұрын
aren't they called floaters?
@ShaneOConnorRecАй бұрын
on the east coast, at least in the northeast... they would be called roller coasters.
@LongboardSessionsАй бұрын
Who knows? I know them as off the tops. Although I learn a lot of my surfing language from Ben Considine who is from Australia... so this could be the problem haha
@BradClockАй бұрын
YES they are called Floaters
@textcentricАй бұрын
IMO for a floater you have to travel across the white water, not just go up and down. Awesome progress whatever the manoeuvre is called! 🤙

Thanks Michael!! I gotta get myself a mid length. I think it will help my longboarding haha

@@LongboardSessions Anytime Im on a longboard people tell me that I look like I want to be on a shortboard. And the opposite happens on a shortboard because I don't want to sacrifice that paddle power. Riding a 7'0 with a 8 inch single fin. Not much of a nose rider but I think you'd really dig it!
@ITS-v4zАй бұрын
I admire your self-reflection and honest analysis of your surfing. Thinking about my surfing in this critical way doesn’t appeal to me but I see your progression. Cheers! BTW, I’ve heard this maneuver called “foam climb,” which seems weird now that I think about it.
@LongboardSessionsАй бұрын
Oh yea I totally get it. Iv'e had many people say they would never want to treat surfing like I do, and I get that. Some people just use it as a fun hobby and sorta escape. However, if you want to get better, this is the way to go IMO.
@wynterlarrabee8294Ай бұрын
Hey! Your ripping🤙When you go up for your floater just three things “lift, lean look” this helped me so much when I was learning

I’d love to see this with the Chingona, perhaps with some discussion of tail rail design. i.e. I’m guessing that the Chingona has round rails right to the tail, but that the CI log has some edge. This manoeuvre seems like it’d be the one where that difference really shows up. Cheers 😉
@LongboardSessionsАй бұрын
You're 100% correct! That's why I wanted to try both which I will do in the future. We had such a flat spell and was running out of time before my surgery or I woulda taken this video to a third day.

Thanks for a terrific video. In all honesty, I don't know if I will ever be able to cross step, although I've only tried it a few times. But off the top, that's something I'm pretty sure I could do, and it looks awesome!

haha it's funny cause I find cross stepping easier!

Another great video Brian 🤙 can’t believe you of all people didn’t have a second fun 😂😂 off the tops… I think I would call them a floater…I think it’s one of the few manoeuvres I can do 😂😂 but I never wanna see what it looks like… I will happily die with just the feeling 😂
