In an arrive and drive Karting session you will encounter drivers of different abilities. In this session the POV driver encountered a dirty driver who was driving unfairly and doing dangerous maneuvers. Don't be this guy when you go Karting!

The POV driver is my friend. He is inexperienced and got bullied on track. He should have been more aggressive! If I was driving, it would be tempting to train wreck after the first incident 😂The 'defending driver' eventually got removed from the session and then black listed from the track! Good riddance 😄 EDIT: Watch my analysis here👇 kzbin.infozzKKbAsNiXA

Once you "read" your opponent is just a matter to setting upa trap,make him going for inside,exit wider and voilà , you have the speed to overtake him and choose the inner line

Simple fix in this case. The driver gave him more than enough opportunity to have an actual race. After so long a simple run from behind to push him to deep into a corner would solve this. Constantly allowing yourself to be beside someone who doesn't want to keep this safe affects everyone. Sending him into a corner to have to become well off pace doesn't. It's the lesser of two evils.

you have to remember that you have responsibility for damage caused to both vehicle and driver. I'm not THAT eager to race if it means possibly wrecking and having to pay for repairing a kart. what I learned with a similar experience is that it's better to only kart when you have a closed session with friends. it's very hard to gather enough people, but paying to get angry and frustrated with some jack*ss strangers? I'd rather not, thanks
@offdabeatz
@offdabeatz 7 ай бұрын
@gustavogoesgomes1863 The method I am speaking of is not to wreck the driver. Simply moving them out of a racing line to have to become off pace. It is up to track officials (if real racing series) to handle this during the race. Here, they obviously didn't care until after. Intentionally wrecking isn't something I ever recommend because it breeds bad techniques that can only lead to serious injury down the line. Moving people, as I stated, a lesser of two evils should still be a last resort. When we are clearly faster, we need to also be smarter about the lines we take.

@@offdabeatz what I wanted to say is that unless you somehow manage to overtake them in a straight and get so far ahead that they can't reach you even in a tight turn, they will "attack" you. even taking a lot of care and looking around me at all times I've got tagged and pushed off track, and I'm sure it would be even worse if I wasn't avoiding them. there was at least three occasions where I was far ahead and I had to open my steering mid corner because the driver behind me was literally coming straight for me. the worst part is that even so, I managed to outrun the bully eventually... wich led me to be stuck behind the next ones. yes, on plural. you don't know how insane things were. I was literally afraid to be near them, and they blocked the track ahead almost all the time. I didn't know how awful a race can be until this day lol

What I do in such siutations, is slow down so it takes more laps cathing up with him again. If he keeps on doing it, one should just go back to the pits and tell the staff that either they black flag/ban the guy or give your money back if they aren't willing to enforce the rules. He may be an a-hole, but it's the staff's fault that he's allowed to do this.

1) It was necessary to drive along the internal trajectory and displace the opponent (did not cross the trajectory when overtaking) 2)Such drivers are easy to punish. You need to fit tightly behind you, body to body. He starts to brake into the turn, you accelerate and only brake a little later. As a result, your opponent goes into the bump stop.

Go karts are entry level to open wheel race cars. In open wheel racing it represents a gentleman’s sport. There exists in every drivers mental picture an imaginable margin around the opponents car that must be respected, otherwise damage and destruction will occur. This leaves the competition to be about ability and smooth control, and respect, not bullying as in the videos example. The driver featured in this video sees it a smash up derby.

Honestly what I would have done is pit manoeuvred him and if it takes us both out of the race I will take that. Even if I was banned from the track I would take that too, and just try to appeal it afterwards if I really enjoyed the Track with the footage you had. This guy was flat out moving into the POV driver's lane, pushing him off the track, intentionally trying to put him into the tires and wall. Once, maybe twice I would be mad and forgive. This guy must have done it 20 times in a 3 minute video. How did none of the track staff see this guy's outright dirty, unsafe driving? Thats not a dirty driver. Thats a psychopathic driver. "Our driver unfortunately failed to prepare the overtaking maneuver better. There he would have had to do it the other way around, damn

The guys an a-hole but you kept yielding him space by going wider as he squeezed you on the outside even on the straights. You should have held position which would have forced him into an uncomfortable tighter line going into the next corners and then you could have easily completed your switch backs, overtaking him completely on exits. Seems to me though that this wasn't on your radar because you were too focused on him (though somewhat understandably because he was being as a-hole). Problem was vision in this case. Just as you should be looking at where you want to go and not where you don't want to go when driving around on your own, the same is true with combatants on the track. Focus on them and you detract from your brain seeing the bigger picture of how to get around a-hole obstacles which is all another driver on the track is.....not the a-hole bit (necessarily) but an obstacle to be gotten around (just like corners) with your peripheral vision and your main vision focused much further ahead of where you're at. This was fundamentally a problem of sub-optimal vision here as you are clearly the much faster driver than the obstacle was.

This is why if I race karts I need to race karts that have enough power to overcome the limits of the tires. This way driving skill actually comes into play. These karts are simply too slow to make driving skill a major factor when you have someone behaving like this. And if the marshals see you tailgate and push the driver you are viewed as the overly aggressive party because you would have spun the other driver out. The marshals should have been on the lookout for this type of behavior, however we can guess that the marshals in this case are likely Teenagers who have no interest in stopping this passive aggressive behavior.

I have run into karters like that when I did Karting many years ago. I had one idiot who kept pushing me into the tire bales around the track and would not let me pass, very similar to this driver. I finally pushed him wide and had to brake but instead pushing me to make room for him. The tire bales were protecting a support column, and he ran right into it and almost flipped the kart backwards. The other thing I would do to someone like the blocker in the video is get right up underneath him going into a corner and then open up the steering a little and turn him around. I never got into trouble for that or the first one I mentioned, I ALWAYS drove with respect and would get out of the way when I knew a faster driver was coming by, even if that meant I went a lap down.

Next time, briefly slam the brakes when he pushes you off the track. He will eliminate himself because it becomes a PIT maneuvre. The last thing you see of him is when he crosses in front of you while you turn him around. Another way is to use him as a brake, like suggested in other comments. Preferrably on one of his corners.

My thoughts are you kept choosing the outside line so he forced you wide. Sometimes way too much as he didn’t give you enough room and purposely pushing you off track as well as himself. Glad he got removed and black listed but there were opportunities to pass that you didn’t take.

I think he was targeting the POV driver. He had no problem with other people passing him. He was clearly looking back to ensure he was setup to always have the inside line from the other driver. A better driver could have easily faked him out and got by with sustained momentum, but the POV driver hadn't reached that skill level yet.

I am a very experienced karter. 10 yrs club racing and that guy wouldn't have bothered me because I would have been past him and long gone. However if Id been run wide like that by someone there is a way past them. Instead of trying to go either side of them just stay behind them for the hairpin or slow corner and when they brake just keep your foot in and punt them into the barriers . You kind of set yourself up to be honest trying to go round the outside.

In cases like this the solution is realy simple. Forgive the unfair play once or twice. The third time either you push him from behind on a curve or on a straight while being beside him, you hit gently his rear with your front and let him spin.

As a long time karter, it does sadden me to see this kind of behaviour - something that we see all too often unfortunately. Not sure why the marshalls didn't bring him in straight away - that seems poor safety management. I see a lot of comments about doing the same back to him but this isn't Mario Kart, the driver crashing doesn't get to respawn and carry on unscathed. Having a driver at the race I was at last weekend having to go to hospital to get checked out as someone crowded them off the track and into the barriers on a fast straight - not behaviour I or a lot of my karting friends would endorse. Racing hard but fair doesn't mean being a dick.

That would be a easy black flag . If not the final they also done for the day . As a track Marshall I won't put up with that kind of driving . As a racer it took 13 years to get 1st ever contact penalty . The guy was poised and don't blame him . Had a chat we explained what was going on . Then asked would he have done what I did ? Of course I would have 😅 Have had a front row seat for all sorts of chaos ! Seeing a kart do cartwheels is interesting 🤯 It ended up upside down balanced steering wheel to steering wheel of another kart . Have flown a kart and not bad until gravity takes over !
