Excellent Video!!! This is what I tell people all the time. I tell them to get their CDL but, wait until things get better! The family/age aspect is important because, you can't focus on the job and have to worry about home! You would be lucky to make 55k your first year! After two years and get all your endorsements, then you can go anywhere! On the age issue: The average age of the American trucker is 53. I got into trucking at 58 and love it! There is NO WAY I could have done this when I was younger! It was the right time for me!

Must be Canadian dollars he's talking about? Currently local, regional With 55-60 hrs a week gross about 75k driving semis since 2013. O/op in progress, again cause equipment is cheap right now, cause many are sinking. Ok, gotta love driving period! Love n friends life, gonna miss most of anything that goes on, and end up losing many, point blank. Otr definitely going to lose most relationships. Starting out you'll make similar to 20/hr? Mileage pay assume 20% free work, and high delivery stress, JIT world. Decade of auto tech, decade plus towing, and over a decade big trucks so far. Oh don't job jump you'll always be New guy last in first out during slow downs. I love driving but, it ain't easy folks. Think of a NY blizzard or PA nice white outs between Erie n Pittsburgh yup you run those suicide runs and then those that pitch about their 5 mile drive to work in bad weather will sweat you on that overnight run to them. Give it a lot of thought. Any thoughts of meeting some sweets at those 70's style truck stops, yeah those don't exist it's just a convenient store with showers that charge double what your local 7/11 does, it's expensive and mostly drivers barely say 2 words to each other anymore. Just you, your rig, and the road. Cb most of the time you wonder if it works, that barely exists anymore either. Over a million miles I've been out there.

And having a good trainer if you’re going to school, but also using a well known system like Smith systems…. The system has helped me in my career as a truck driver.

If you want to try trucking, first off have no family. You will be on the road forever. I had a family when I started and it sucked. Now I am single and the road is great. You have to be willing to give up a lot in life to drive a truck over the road. I have made it to a point in my life and a company I like to do whatever I want. Be very picky on what company you go with.

No get into a skilled trade. Lineman, iron worker etc. as an apprentice you will travel a whole lot but if you go lineman route when you journey out you can go wherever storm chasing lineman make the most. If you choose trucking, learn other things while on the road in your downtime because if you leave after so long with no backup skills you will regret it. I regret wasting 10 years of my damn life in a semi. It was fun at first but now it’s not this is my last year in it. F$ck this industry. @@NorthAmerican-Trucking-News yes I agree with that but even with supervised training you still not gonna experience 1% of surprises what is ahead of you down the trucking road. I’m driving over 10 years and still having ❤️ stopping situations and even we will drive for 50 years there are always surprises waiting for us around the corner and some places shouldn’t be allowed to serve trucks due to slow loading/unloading and docking spots that require extremely high backing experience drivers.
