I'd have a Toyota over any french car.
@tardeliesmagicАй бұрын
Me too. Replacing a starter or alternator on that Aygo isn't a shock, it's like getting to 13yrs old & where the car is it will get corrosion coming from Scotland. Had a 2002 Yaris for 14yrs with zero corrosion as it came from London,sold it & still keep in touch with the new buyer. The Yaris still passed its MOT 3 yrs on the trot afterwards.

The Japanese cars are without a doubt better but they still break / rust. Anything mechanical does - especially if well maintained. However I don’t think of the Aygo as a true Toyota - it’s a joint venture with PSA (Peugeot 107 / Citroen C1 is same car underneath) and made in Czech Republic. Just my opinion 😊.

Whoever gets that Toyota Aygo will get an absolute 💯% bargain. A car that's practically been rebuilt.

Yup, and very expensive to fix too. They're definitely slipping, but there's at least enough FanBoy enthusiasts to keep them going until electrification.

I had a Corolla e9 1.6 a Corolla e10 1.6 a Camry 3.0 24v after that a e10 Corolla 1.6 gtsi and after that one a Lexus es300. 800k kilometers in total in these cars. They never broke down. Ever. Bought a golf 6 and that was simply bad. I'm back to a e12 Corolla T-sport. I like the not edgy tech that simply works.

Indeed, the Aygo is Czech built and was jointly developed with PSA. The 1.0 Daihatsu engines are Japanese though and pretty bombproof. The Aygo was developed and only sold in Europe.

I stand by Honda , had several and they have been really reliable and quite robust.
@sbrader97Ай бұрын
Most of them are good but even honda went the stupid route of wet belts with there own 1.0 turbo too so that's a misstep by Honda that you should avoid civics with that engine as it has the exact same issues with the wet belt I have also heard about oil fuel dilution issues on the 1.5 turbo but generally a realiable engine mainly short journeys cause that
@brianmonahan7990Ай бұрын
@@sbrader97 Totally agree and will be staying clear of those engines , I have had the Honda CRV 2.0 petrol and 1.6 diesel , no complaints whatsoever.

The Aygo came from Scotland so expect corrosion & it was abused, replacing an alternator or a starter on any 14yr old car isn't shock on a Toyota.

We have had 5 Toyotas in a row, a Yaris, Prius+, Prius hatch, Auris hybrid and now a RAV4 and between all of those we had one TPMS sensor and two batteries during lockdown. But their pre-2013 stuff was a bit naff, esp diesels.

You can hardly ever revive a battery that's been stood, might take a charge but it'll be flat in a couple of days, I just chuck a new cheap one on, for small cars I get them for 40 quid, If you get an old style battery charger you can boil the battery to get the crap off the plates but it's not worth customers moaning over flat batteries imho.

It is a reputation gained from old school Toyotas which is no longer deserved. Up to around the year 2000, Corollas, Carina and RAV4s were ultra reliable and over engineered, sadly later cars were subject to cost cutting and not bullet proof, similar to the VW Beetle which have VW a reputation for reliability which they no longer have.

I bought a 07 c1 last week bud, fsh and tbh it's pretty rust free, your issues aren't really the make of car it was just horrendously looked after, remember those discs, been run as a delivery car on a bent test, bca should be held to book, especially at 2k(!) but they won't, talk about a death trap, if a dealer sold that as it was he'd have got time, auctions will just hammer anything into you at a high price and get off Scott free, at one I go to a car set on fire as soon as the trader set off, auction didn't want to know, at Morley auction you'd pay in the cash office, then on the door as you were leaving a sign said how cars were considered to be unroadwothy and shouldn't be used on the public highway, ha, ha.
@richwilliams9895Ай бұрын
Problem with the Aygo is they were always cheap cars, so prob not upto toyota usual standards. Secondly due to that price they wernt bought by typical toyota customers. Probably not looked after like a usual toyota.
