on 4K 60fps is pretty much the holy grail. You have the choice, resolution or FPS. 240 fps @1080p, 144 fps @ 1440p or 60 fps @ 2160p seems to roughly be the max you're ever going to get at current time. Hell, 2080TI can't consistently deliver these framerates in some games, so most likely your refreshing is limited by your GPU. For example, 2080TI in newest Assassins Creed, 203 fps @1080, 109 @ 1440 and 53 @ 2160. Just because the screen can process more doesn't mean the GPU is sufficient to push it all. But yeah, a 60 hertz 1080p display is kind of a waste.

30fps is one of two standards for video framerates. 60, 120, and 240Hz or fps video is really made for slow-mo or that TruMotion bullshit. 60fps is becoming more common as a regular-speed framerate, but it looks weird and kind of stupid, plus it requires twice the data and it's not worth that.

This is what we've been used to for decades. 60fps being twice as fast as the fastest standard, it's weird. Doesn't look right. Ultimately, it's subjective, but there are reasons why professionally produced film and television isn't in 60fps.

@@RocketDragons Yeah there are reasons - smaller files, faster processing. I know that The Hobbit had a 48fps version that a lot of people didn't like, but I wish more movies had that option. One of the single greatest upgrades I ever did, before even building a new rig this year, was buying a 1MS 144HZ monitor last year. It single handedly changed my PC and was damn near like building a new one by itself. However, as you said, It has indeed ruined all other panels for me. After having helped build a friends new computer, seeing a game I'm very familiar with for testing on screen at 59.9HZ was... aggravating and shocking. I almost had a moment where I thought he was losing frames but noticed he was holding steady at ~200FPS in testing. It's not a gimmick, this shit changes the way you see things for sure.

I also "upgraded" to a 144hz 1ms Asus VG248qe last black Thursday. It hasn't ruined low fps gaming for me, I still use a Fire HD8 for most of my internet usage. 480p 30fps KZbin all the time, maybe 360p, whatever. Add in that I still LOVE my PS3, and Resistance Fall of Man, my 2nd game had a noticably low frame rate, and low FPS (20-30) is what I'm use to, also Borderlands on a HD 3000 Laptop, Lost Planet 2 on a Pentium D 840, 20fps is fine. 144hz is nice, but only when it drops below 15fps does it actually become a problem for me. Also trying to play mobile games at 5fps on my phone... And I say "upgraded" because even after I finally got the colors to be "good enough" on the monitor, it still can't come any where near the "true black" levels on my PlayStation 3D Display, which I have retired exclusively for Simul-view games as it is near 20,000 hours usage. Movies were so good, now I have trouble focusing on anything other than the Backlight Bleed, even with backlight set to 0.

I have a cheap 1080p monitor and the ghosting is pretty bad. Another issue with it is that it's not very sharp. Just because a panel has X resolution doesn't mean it's going to be just as sharp as higher-grade monitors. I'm planning on replacing my video card soon, and my monitor will be the very next upgrade I do, to a decent-quality 1440p display (because I don't want my GTX 960 trying to push a 1440p display!).
@GoldSrc_5 жыл бұрын
The concept of sharpness does not exist on PC monitors, even a very old 1024x768 LCD monitor can be as sharp as a 4K monitor. Ghosting sure, it can be horrible on some monitors, but sharpness is never a problem on monitors using digital signals, worry about sharpness if you're using an old CRT monitor or you are using VGA as your source of signal where phase and clock do matter and make the picture look blurry.
@xponen5 жыл бұрын
if digital output is blurry it could also mean you've turned on GPU scaling. This feature is for displaying virtual resolution only, there's no need to enable this.
@xponen5 жыл бұрын

@@honeymanod in most cases, 1 single 2080TI in a 16x slot can push and maintain 60-90 fps at 4K. so that's 500 to 800 million pixels processed per second (1440p @ 144mhz is near the top range of that.) So I would look at comparison sites. Considering the 2080TI is actually almost exactly double as good (97 vs 196 bench) as the 1070 (non TI) you are probably capped at around 70-80 FPS on 1440p. So your conclusion seems correct.
