Don’t buy a Brand New Motorcycle at a Young age. Buy Used. Explained Why.

In 2015, my dad bought a Duke 200 for me after selling his 1998 Bullet Machismo. The bike costed 1.58L on road. It's been 9 years. I'm 27 now. I still ride my Duke 200. It is the best bike ever. I can tour on it, ride it offroad, ride it in the city, it doesn't heat up much. It gives great mileage. A full engine rebuild costs only 32k. The maintenance, the cost of spares. Everything is great. I earn enough to buy a bigger bike but it doesn't make sense to me. All my friends have bigger bikes, adventure bikes, they tell me to upgrade but I have happy with my trusty little duke. It's never given up on me. I will keep it till its registration expires in 2030. The newer bikes are so expensive and not nearly as much value for money as my duke. I'm lucky to be born early enough to get to own a 2015 duke 200. If I want to ride a superbike, I'll probably rent one for a day, enjoy it and return it. Loving this podcast video format. Even i was in same dilemma while buying my bike. Scoured the pre owned options but even a basic ass decent bike like r15 was 1.7-1.9 lacs. Plus payin 2.3 lacs for an 150cc didnt make much sense to me. I found a 2015 D390 and fell in love with it the bike was so nicely maintained that the owners cousin bought it before I could arrange funds. So anyways I was almost convinced to get a used Ntorq scooter less than1 year used for 75k until I paid a visit to a newly opened Big Wing showroom nearby. I saw the 300F and fell in love with it as I always liked the street fighter looks of hornet but was let down by the power and 5 gears only. But this beauty the 300F just made perfect sense for 2Lacs on road Mumbai, I'm getting a low maintanence oil cool engine, 35-40 kmpl, about 24 bhp with no nonsense riding modes, a fat 150 section rear. I was so sold. The real delight came in when I heard the interest rate man it was just 6.3% like it was perfect, even if I financed the bike 100% I just had to pay 30k for 3 years in total. It felt a great deal on an awesome motorcycle. The low end destroys the yamahas perfect for city and breakfast rides. Vikas bhai you should review the bike once its a very sweet deal.

Hi vikas sir..im 25 looking for something fast and was going to get a 400cc ns400z as a first bike..now im thinking i should get something like rtr 1604v and riding gear and exploit all 17 bhp of it thoroughly for 2 years..as 40 bhp and low mileage isn’t going to help much at this age..lot of motorcycling left so i shouldnt hurry..do you agree?

Go for rtr 200 or 180 than a 160 may be a better choice in my opinion!

First we need to check, how many years we need to keep that bike. If only for 2-3 years, then buy second hand and sell it third hand. I did it for learning car driving on extreme traffic. I brought WagonR which was having only 1 year remaining and sold it later on more than purchase price.

Here in my our area,we get used Bajaj bikes really cheap price,like we get dominar 400 from 2017-2019 under 1.2 lakhs. We can even find dominars under 1 lakh too depending on condition

Hi Brother. Perfect! I also think so. If I need to buy a new bike, I will go for test ridden secondhand bike from showroom with great discount. Right now, I already have a bike and it has 10 years remaining life. I will go for engine rebuild for my current bike instead of buying new and this will cost only 7-10% of original cost.

Here in Bengaluru you can buy a used bike of just 2 years old at 50%. Buying a used bike is a wise decision. Last month i bought the hero Xtreme of just 2 years old for just 82 thousand, and Bajaj Avenger 180cc of 2020 for 70 thousand which is as good as the showroom condition.

First of all thank you soo much vikas garu for doing this video..firstly how i met vikas garu is when i went to youtube searching biking related videos.. i had seen a video which was (superbikes pulled over by cops for alleged over speeding in Hyderabad,india.... This is all where it started to following you vikas garu.. in 2017 i watched the video the way you talked was awesome vikas garu.. after that i contacted you through whatsapp for a 422kms ride on honda activa which i bought in 2019 your advices are soo helped me.. which was like check the oil level and tyres.. etc..now my activa was 5 years old still not any strange sounds coming from the engine.. odo was 55+ and the speed i had maintained was 50kmph i did not crossed 50kmph.. till now i ride it smoothly.. so, after that i had decided to upgrade a good motorcycle which was my dream bike R15.. so, i went to nearest yamaha showroom and asked about the prices i was shocked the price range was 2,40,000 to 2,60,000 rupees i thought new bike is waste of money lets check out second hand bikes so, i asked the showroom manager do u have any second hand motorcycles ? He said yes sir we have The R15 V4.. 2022 model the odo was just 22k something so, it was a low gloss black V4 i just really loved it the price he said was 1,40,000 i bargained and tooked it for 1,30,000..recently have to see how much will the maintainance will cost.. 🙂 thank you vikas garu for making this video and giving people and young buddies a good opinion 😊🤗 love you vikas garu 😘

After watching this video. I just bought a classic 350 (2018 model 35000 km ridden) from a friend for 1 lakh. Dealers were asking way above than this price (1.25-1.35 lakh) so I think this may be a good deal. Bike is in good condition and I am very happy with my purchase.

I’ve bought duke 390 2014 back in 2018 for 90k. Rode it for many years and then sold it for 70k last year. Took a year to search for right bike at right price. So, imo, used are good as long as you know what you are looking for, knows jnside out of bike with good engine knowledge and research on price etc.

Correct! R15 has below advantages: 1. Offset Crankshaft/Cylinder (engine life 2x) 2. VVA (engine life 2x) Hence, engine life becomes 4x.

bang on. recently came across a video about a 57 year old gentleman riding on a 110cc bike ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4qxeXljnMerZ6csi=5EsImOeDogfJuGpc ). didn't have proper gear but cos of his financial situation it was a choice between travelling and spending on gear. Travel with what you have or buy used and spend remaining on getting good gear and spend on travelling. and when you cna afford a new bike, go for it.
