If you loosen the clutch lever free play just slightly ( like a quarter of a rotation ) it will most likely fix the quick shifter issue. I had the same issue on my trident 660. It's hella sensitive to lever tension and after the clutch would warm up and tighten the lever slightly the quick shifter would start being a POS. Just mess around with making it slightly looser / tighter and you'll get it all dialed in and it will be butter smooth.

I got a 765 RS for my first BIG bike... this thing is MENTAL!!! LOVE IT .... highly recommend. I suppose I know nothing but how about a quote from Pete Hickman "if I was going to get a REALLY fun bike for the road - that's what I would get" ...obviously if you're going from a 125cc you won't notice any difference for the money between the R and RS. I own both a 2024 Street triple RS and a 2022 Trident 660 (even did a review on my channel of both). I will say that the trident does offer something that the STr doesn't, and it would be the looks. While i love the STRS, the trident with its neo retro looks, 80hp triple, and comfortable more upright riding position, its hits the market perfectly for those who want to cruise, while still having fun in the turns. Not to mention the insurance difference between the two haha. Either way, excellent review! Wish the RS came in white...

Yeah I tried the Trident yesterday and the Street triple ( big thanks to Sophie at Destination Triumph Christchurch) I did love the look of the Trident but I just found and this might sound silly but the handlebars are so narrow that I felt a bit odd riding it , the Street was amazing but if I’m 💯 honest I really wish I’d kept my Speed Triple 1200 😂aha man , I always think the grass is greener lol! It’s not that the 765 isn’t a fantastic bike but it’s a little bit cramped compared to the Speed , The Trident riding position is good and the engine 660 definitely enough power no doubt about it , maybe it’s just because I got used to the 1200 with all the bells n whistles and I think that’s what I miss 👍🏾

I had the 1200 Rs and sold it back to the dealer, it’s a waste of a bike and totally unusable….. it does 40 mph in 1st gear by the time you get to 3rd gear it’s game over, it’s not comfortable, it’s no good in traffic the only positive is the brakes … they’re incredible but I’d rather have the Street Triple if I had the choice again 👍🏾

For a lot of people yeah. Not all. It’s not HP that makes the biggest impact on the road. It’s torque. I prefer certain larger capacity bikes because the torque satisfies my need of acceleration at much lower speeds. I ride a 1290 Superduke and have never tested all of the HP. Nor have I been anywhere near its top speed. Having that power fits my needs. The V4 Tuono 1100 factory I had before would bait me into doing speeds I didn’t want to be doing because of its engine characteristics. This is why I got rid of it. It didn’t satisfy my needs. The 1200rs is a phenomenally flexible power plant with plenty of torque and obtainable for less than 11K now, so cheaper than your 2023 ST765r/rs.
@VFactory-vl5fi9 ай бұрын
@@Cartsp70it’s no good in traffic??? 😂 Get out of here!! It’s got one of the smoothest, flexible, easiest to ride engines out there. You don’t have to use 1st gear till 40mph. You can happily sit in 4th at 30mph. Use the torque and some self control.

Having faced the R or RS choice twice now (gen 1 and gen 2) I always plumped for the RS as my road bike (never done a track day in 17 years of riding). To me I just got so much more enjoyment out of it, over the Rs that I rode - it reminded me of my old 636 Ninja; it just had that extra bit of character that made it more engaging to ride. One thing that reviewers often miss, is the Brembo MSC that the RS comes with, with the 19/20/21 ratio - which allows you to perfectly customise the feel and bite of the brakes on the road. The only thing that the RS needs, other than sacking off the dreadful Super Corsas for some PR6s, is suspension setup - as no matter what you choose from the book, it never feels right for our roads imo

I test rode the previous generation of "R" and loved it so much that I am really convinced to buy a second-hand one. My only problem is the pillion seat. 90% of the time I ride solo, but if do have a passenger I wouldn't want her to suffer. Even if it takes an aftermarket seat or some modification (like I did on my current MT-07). Do you have any opinion on that matter? Moreover, is it possible to throw some side bags and go for a small travel? (The best twisties are unfortunately away from the city)

I am a bit torn between the Street Triple R and the Trident. Just compared the dyno values. It seems that until 8.000 RPM both, the Street and the Trident have almost the same power output. Only after 8.000 RPM the Street pulls massivly away. So, in everyday use I guess the Trident is still the more reasonable choice, isn't it? The Streety seems to be about 3K more expensive?
@timrodierides8 ай бұрын
Yeah, that’s true - but my argument would be that the Street Triple R is going to keep your interest for longer, because you’ve also got that top-end rush to explore. On the Trident I often found myself hitting the rev limiter and wishing it had a few thousand more rpm to play with. But with my sensible hat on… the Trident is fast enough

Thanks Tim - I've been waiting for a journo to finally come out and say when Triumph announced the RS and R when they talked about the RS for 55 mins on its performance and finished off saying 'Oh, and there's the R for the road', they actually meant if you spend the majority of your time on the road, don't live in a barmy 20C-30C nor in a country where there roads are like a billiard table just go buy the R. Triumph are a bit naughty too with looks are some options (like no cruise control on the road going R .... like I need cruise on the track) , colours, etc. Shame. My question to you is on your testing of the RS - did you try softening it off for the road and if so was it still less roadish than the R? You see I'm shallow, and would buy the RS IF it could be softened off to be as comfortable as the R for the road...
