Hi Susan, lovely to “meet” you finally! Well, just on YT. I got my first IP for less than half price by getting one used from Facebook Marketplace. Lots of people get one as a gift and never use it. Just thought I’d pass that along. Thanks for all your useful information and you are a helpful human indeed!

This came at a very good time with Black Friday deals coming thick and fast! I've just bought the Instant Pot Duo Whisper Quiet, and I'm feeling very reassured by my decision after watching some of your videos, thank you 😊

You are so welcome. I’m testing that one myself at the minute - come back and tell me how you get on 😊

@CookingandCalm I will do, I look forward to seeing how you get on with it, there's not many reviews/recipes using that particular model

Brilliant video ❤. Do you have a link or video for converting slow cooker recipes into pressure cooker recipes?
@CookingandCalm2 күн бұрын
@djsgrant This is my slow cooking test video that goes through the basics. I have on my list to test more recipes to convert. If you have any favourites, email me a link and I’ll give it a go (website contact form is in my profile section) kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3bMXn2Bis51nM0

I didn't realise the Pro Plus (canning) model was in the UK now. £150 seems very reasonable for that capability. I already have a massive stovetop pressure canner, but have thought about getting something for smaller batches. My first Instant Pot had wifi. I *loved* that it had Wifi. Mostly because I'm hard of hearing. To me, the instant pot was silent. The only sound it made that I could hear was when I did the pressure release. The wifi let me monitor what was going on inside the instant pot. It also provided a graph of the temperature that the IP was at and for how long. (If I were ever to use an IP for canning, I'd really want this feature.). The wifi app would give me a notification if a burn notice was triggered. It also made it super easy to do a delay start for any sort of foods that I didn't want to have start right away (like oatmeal for the morning, rice for dinner, beans, etc). We now have a newer Instant Pot Duo Crisp (no wifi) and I now have hearing aids and I can hear all the noises that our instant pot makes, I never realised how noisy it is lol.

Hi there 👋. Good to see you! That’s a great use of WiFi - thank you sharing that

Great video! I have had my Duo 60 for six years and love it. I just use a wooden spoon or similar to release the steam.

Love it! Yes I think I hang on to mine because those early models feel like they were really carefully built and will last forever!

Hi Susan - thanks for all your great videos. What do you think about Instant Pot Duo Plus Whisper Quiet? - I was unable to find a video on that model. It seems the best choice although it's not the cheapest ;) I know the inner pot has no handles but it's possible to buy a separate ceramic pot unlike in Pro and other models with pots with handles.

Hi Paul, I've literally only started testing it this week but like you, I like the look of it on paper as a good model for many wich is why I decided to get one and test it. I have done the water test and made a beef shin stew in it last night and those went well. I got mine for £99 and that felt like a good price point given it has the enhanced digital display and adjustable sauté. There is a plastic cover over the steam release area you might have spotted on the video - as a regular user, I'm not sure what I think of this yet as I'm so used to being able to see what's going on, but I'll reserve judgement on that and see if I get used to it. Very early days but hope it gives you an idea. It's also lighter as the lid has more plastic than metal so if you're lifting and carrying it, a bit easier.

Thanks for the video. It helps me a lot❤ . All your videos in fact. What I do not understand is how is it posssible that the instant pot duo cost 78 euros and the two replacement rings cost 58😮. It doesn't make sense. Maybe is only in my country. I buy from Spain but it makes me hesitate whether to buy it or not.
@CookingandCalm2 күн бұрын
You're welcome and thank you so much 😊. €58 😱. No way should they cost that. They are US $13 (US Amazon) and UK £12.99 (instant pot uk site) for 6L sealing ring pack of 2 so something is definitely off there. I hope you can find a better source. Depending how much you use you only need to replace every year or two . Good luck with it 👍

Hi love your videos which IP would you recommend if I want one which has a bake function but don’t want anything that has an inner coating that is non stick I want stainless steel , do you think the duo crisp or the Duo Evo plus ? Thanks
@CookingandCalmКүн бұрын
Hi there, thank you 😊 In general on baking: -Duo CRISP:basically has an air fryer lid so you can in theory 'bake' in the way you can with other air fryers but check the sizing for your baking tins as they need some clearance around them and make a foil sling so you can lift out without burning your hands. Also remember it is an airfryer so it runs hot and may burn the top if too close. I don't really bake so not an expert, but have baked dog biscuits and a small batch of 2 bread rolls in my duo crisp and they came out fine, but size is definitely limited. I used a dehydrating stacking rack for the dog biscuits so multi-layer - EVO: I've not tried it but I'm guessing the Evo bake function will be fine for steamed things like cheesecakes, steamed puddings (they all are as it's pressure cooking really) but might be more tricky for baking not under pressure. I looked on a facebook group I'm part of for you and one person did cook brownies on the non pressure setting- said it took ages but worked eventually.Not many people bake in the non airfryer versions. NON STICK etc - for both machines you can use your own baking tins as long as they are oven safe and fit with clearance around the edge. The Crisp has a ceramic airfryer basket but you don't have to put your food in there - you can use whatever works for you as long as it's good for an oven. I hope that helps 👍

Brilliant videos. Love your voice. Did you consider other brands like Ninja? If yes, any thoughts on other brands.
@CookingandCalm2 күн бұрын
Thank you so much. Yes definitely. Instant Pot were the first ones with the pressure cooking focus in UK but I do like Ninja as a brand - what I don't like is the non-stick pots for pressure cooking that are in Ninja's and when I talked to them they said they wouldn't be offering stainless steel so that's put me off (I don't love non stick which is a personal choice and I'm not one for using non-branded inner pots when pressure cooking cos of the tight tolerances and high pressure but I'm a risk averse type). I have got that big Ninja multicooker with the thermometer to see what it's like but I had to put it away as we moved into a little flat with open plan and it's too heavy to carry about and we couldn't hear TV- it's very loud. When we get moved to a place with separate kitchen I'll try it again. If my focus wasn't pressure cooking, I think I'd explore Ninja more, I don't think that's their strength so far and someone told me they're moving away from the pressure cooking side.

What about the Rio?
@CookingandCalmКүн бұрын
Hi there, yes I haven't had a Rio personally as very new here but what I say in the video is basically for you to decide what's most important to you then check out if the particular model fits with you and how you like to cook, size of kitchen space etc. From memory, I think the Rio 6Q has a slightly smaller footprint than some of the others and the big one is more low and wide. ope that helps

Here is the good and the bad with your channel. The good: Very thorough reviews of cooking equipment, good job. The bad: Disabling dislikes shows that you can't handle criticism as well as you can ditch it out. This is a reasonable red flag for a lot of viewers.
@CookingandCalm17 сағат бұрын
Thank you. I’ll be honest , I didn’t know they were disabled and definitely get dislikes so that’s a weird one. Will look into it to see why that’s happening. Thanks for letting me know 👍
