Including AmaYawn!! I bought an item from Amazon that was broken. Could not contact the seller directly. But always encouraged to leave feedback and rate seller. I took pictures of broken item and submitted a detailed review. I received a long auto-generated message from Amazon why my review was denied being posted. I NEVER got to talk to a live person there. So now I don't waste time reviewing anything I buy from them. Too bad something that was meant to be a joy or convenience turns in to a problem. Thanks for the vid!

Great information! Just yesterday I privately called out a seller for his ad practices (how could virtually EVERY engine air filter in his store fit my car, even ones shaped completely differently?) and he emailed back saying that all his feedback (marked "private listing") were true. I'll just go to a local car parts store and spend the extra dollars and get the right part the first time.

I just had some work done on my Honda Odyssey. I had the transmission fluid and anti-freeze changed. I purchased the items from a Honda dealer on Amazon. I wasn't sure I had enough, so I went to my local Honda dealer and it was cheaper there. One has to be vigilant on both of these sites for counterfeit parts.

as for photos, I have actually found that taking video of packing it up with the label already shown so it can be shown that it is what it is, all at the post office and include a guest starring appearance of the postal employee I hand it over to all in one shot with no jump cuts, which once I have that and show even a bit of it to anyone making claims they quickly disappear and I hear nothing more from them LOL (and now it is so much easier with cell phone cameras and such, back then I was using a sony digital 7.2mp camera so it was much more awkward than using a cell now. XD (it helps to let them know you are going to do it, and ask to include them so it is painfully obvious that you mailed what you mailed, most of them are fine with this, and glad to see it packed up if it is quick and you have all your duck tape and boxes in a row, so it is just a wham bam hand it over to scan man action. because they then know there is nothing dangerous inside, having seen inside the box while open and what was going in. and I always give it to them that it is to stop mail fraud which most of them are quite against, (I have not found one that expressed anything but the utmost contempt for people who defraud using the mail or try and rip off the post office, but I have to say I am sure there are some that don't care or even would relish ripping off the postal service or something, for whatever reason. anyway they got to feel like movie stars with how I phrased it and feel like batman being equipped to take down the badguys which I almost always have the same employee I see or have a very small pool so they see me often with pleasantries and the like, (even had one front the funds so I could mail and return to pay them back, and just held on to my tracking and receipt till I came back, which rewarded with the best chocolate I could get while I was grabbing my money to go back LOL)

@@electronicsNmore actually I had another instance where paypal not ebay, (before they absorbed it) refused to recognize a signed and returned signature on delivery, requiring state ID like a drivers license, for proof of delivery, all because it would cost them to call long distance to a 1800 number from india (ie they were not in the USA the people I contacted about the dispute where it would have been free to call the US post master and ask if the info I had was good or not, instead they told me "it has to be trackable ONLINE, ie the way it will be free anywhere in the world. Had the person not reversed the payment back to me he would have been dealing with a US mail fraud charge considering what I had, but it was just mind blowing that something far more guaranteed to show they got the item with a federal employee as a witness was not good enough, instead a tracking number that could have been an empty box, but it will still show something was shipped to them, then there is the issue with someone altering a deal after and adding stuff to it, sending a second payment and then once they get it all they demand that the second payment be refunded because there was not going to be a tracking number for something that was included in the first item's box, Had to learn from that the hard way too, and demand either they pay for two shipping prices so I can send two items get two tracking numbers or send it as a gift that is non-refundable and does not require a second tracking number.

• 1:13 - Heh, yeah, I remember that video of Elric railing against eBay. • 1:27 - Yes, sellers can complain about buyers and flag them as "abusive buyers" (and of course, they can abuse this). In fact, apparently sellers can even remove negative feedback. 🤨 • 2:20 - It seems like most bad buyers are westerners and most scammer sellers are in China. • 2:25 - What? 🤨 Don't they know they can just rent tools from their local Home Depot or other similar place? 🤦 • 2:35 - eBay knows a lot of the problems (like sellers abusing style function to cheat searches). But they don't fix anything. • 2:48 - So, _don't_ keyword spam listings or be ambiguous about what's actually included? 🤨 Tell that to other sellers. 🤦 • 3:01 - Hey, that's my mother's camera! 😀 (I really need to find it and get that last roll of film developed. 😕) • 3:32 - Clever trick. 👍 • 4:30 - Even the police don't bother with even stolen cars, why would the USPS bother with cheaper items? 🤷 • 5:30 - You're assuming scam artists will even notice or read the warning. Nobody reads anything anymore. 😒

Yes, sellers can remove negative feedback that was given for no reason at all by psycho buyers, I've dealt with a couple. Why rent a tool from Home Depot, when you can rent it for free on Ebay? LOL Buyers and sellers both can be a problem on ebay, that's for sure. Most stolen cars are taken by pros and chopped up for parts to sell, or shipped out of the USA. Some scam artists actually read. :-)

Question: How do we block bad sellers? I do an average of sixteen buying transactions a month on EBay. Exactly 2,016 100% Positive feedback. I used to sell until it started to cost too much for shipping. I have only twice left negative feedback. It was well deserved. There are several times the neutral feedback would have been appropriate, but I always let some time pass before being worked up about a transaction. I have an issue wrecking someone’s feedback over something that really isn’t a huge deal. Stop, think, breath, have a cup of mud and calm down a day or two and see if things are as bad as your first assessment. Thanks.

Been a while since I've did it, but an ebay seller can "ban" a known problem buyer. Ebay also tried to forcefully withdraw my $400 sale proceeds, because the scam buyer wanted a refund, but when I told my bank I never authorized that transaction, my bank acted accordingly in my favor.

I think eBay and Amazon need to take more steps to help prevent fraud on their sites. As a buyer, I have been burned many times on eBay and even more so on Amazon. They need to force sellers to take pictures when they package and sell an item and require the pictures and a tracking number to be posted before the item can ever be marked as shipped. So many times I have ordered something and had it marked as shipped within a few minutes or hours of the item being purchased only to have to wait 2 weeks or more for the tracking number to be listed or even updated in the system. They also need to verify the exact shipping address of sellers. I have bought literally hundreds of items over the last decade and the bait and switch are getting worse. They will say they are shipped and sold in the USA then they don't post it for 2-3 weeks because the item was actually shipped from overseas. Lying about your shipping location or when an item is actually shipped is also fraud but most of the time all buyers can do is leave poor reputation scores for the shipping. They also need to require sellers to offer more than a slow free shipping option. More often than not I have ordered something 2-3 weeks in advance of when I need it because all the sellers only offer a free or reduced shipping option and sometimes I would be willing to pay more in shipping to get guaranteed delivery of an item if I know that I need it. As a seller, I have only ever sold a few items but for the most part, I have been very descriptive with good pictures showing the state of the package. I have also done the taking pictures of the packaging and communicated with the buyer as soon as the item was handed off to the post office.

actually had this happen with a barco data 808 video projector (the swapping parts for good ones out of it with bad ones on hand and try and send it back to get their money back and free replacement parts for repairing others from customers, which I had to dispute and it tied up over a grand in funds for nearly 2 months before ebay found in my favor which was because the damage they claimed I had clear photos of the CRTs to show what burn in there was already on them (needed to know for anyone wanting to use it, and not putting that info meant no sale possibly considering it was monster and expensive to ship like basically shipping a small motorcycle that had to have a custom pallet and box built to send it LOL) anyway they were quite pissed because I did a little investigating and found they were a local registered repair shop, and I believe ebay found they had similar claims like that on others, so pattern of behavior and all, plus it was evident that my screens were not brand new, nor did I try and insinuate that they were.

@@electronicsNmore absolutely, they were on the ball that time, just like another instance where I bought something and when it did not all come in, the seller tried to have me return it to an address that did not exist, and redirected to a differnt address, then claim I mailed it to the wrong place, but when I saw this I started up OBS and recorded the whole process along with hunting down on google earth both addresses showing them to be the same address thus why the one that the USmail saw as the official address was what it would autofill the other address too, and refused to allow printing a label to the other one. I shared this with the people at eBay and gave them all the links I used to find this info so they could see it was not doctored to give a false result or anything, and two emails to the eBay staff and it was sorted with my money back in my account and the seller that tried to short me a 300 dollar part cussing up a storm, sadly I don't think eBay would do anything about them calling me every name in the book and threatening me ominously (but no specific threat) with "we have your address" type of nonsense, Also I should point out that I got funds to handle getting another one from someone else on eBay and picked someone in NJ vs California to ensure it was a different seller and packing group of people since there are instances where I have bought 10 different items from 10 different sellers and every payment through PayPal all went to the exact same account under the same email address, so watch out for that, as buying again from another seller could be the same people using more than one eBay store, and who knows what will happen then. I don't know what happened with the other original seller but I suppose someone working there might have grabbed the part as it sold at the time for such a high price much like delivery drivers for UPS and amazon both have realized they had a PS5 or the new xbox and just turned right around or even picked up the box and left with it stealing it themselves, only to be fired later that day and charged for stealing like 20 or more of these units, that I am sure they could have scalped for over a 1000 dollars above the retail price. Then again it could be an honest mistake from the manufacturer in china before shipping it to the warehouses in cali, and the person running it either is too what ever to admit failure or mistake, or worse still might be facing massive backlash from the factory and company in china for mistakes and the push-back is their attempt to save their livelihood if not their lives entirely. and if the last thing is the case I am actually really sad for them and wish that had not happened, especially if it was received by them and just slapped a new label on it to send on making it almost not their fault and something that they most likely could not spend the time to make sure it was not their fault like opening and checking each box or something when dealing with the crush of work possibly even more insane than say that experience by those at amazon :(

I generally just avoid Fleebay like the plague. I went there to buy a CD once that was currently out of print. Today I bought a $200 home maintenance item and the price was the same on Amazon as Walmart but I went with walmart because they never have/had a yearly fee ( not that it affected the purchase price I was buying ) and I know you have to vote with your dollars. ( Their line of hypertough tools are really decent for the money. They are not Craftsmen or Snap on but I'll take them over Horrible Freight any day.) BTW of my dollars spent today my guilty treat was $42 in pop from Whole Foods but its real sugar and makes for great Root Beer Floats during our most recent heatwave. My next best purchase was at Aldi's where I bought a UVC light for $25 that had been $50. It has a motion sensor, timer, and even a credit card sized remote control. Can't have enough protection against the new and old variants of the COVID! BTW, great channel! I know I have seen your comments around on the channels we both happen to frequent and you'll probably appreciate this bizarre story. I refound your channel because I was listening to a musician I rarely listen to and then I saw an old account I had lost. I clicked on my name. I wondered about my old playlists so I clicked on that and found your 12 to 120vac MOT video in a playlist I created in case I ever had the time and desire to actually build these things. You were one of a dozen videos. What are the odds that all that happened just right to bring me here to subscribe now? What about the delivery folks? FedEX delivered a camera and years later a printer I bought from Ebay to the wrong address. I never got them and there was nothing I could do about it. How did I find out it was delivered to the wrong address? Incidently just conincidence, that those two folks happen to be home and just happened to have signed. Usually they just drop the parcel and that is that. After the back and forth, I told FedEx and proved to them it wasn't my signature... it went no further than that. "Sorry it has been delivered". [Then again, how would I know if it wasn't the Fedex employee. The thought went through my mind instantly].

Stay away from all 3rd worlds countries, and the worst 2nd world countries like Turkey, Bulgaria, etc.. Scammers on both sides. I try to use amazon prime due to free shipping since sometimes the shipping is more expensive than the item. One time I did not and the item broke within 2 minutes of use and I had to pay 10$ to return it. I returned 2 items since the listing says one thing then I change a color of the item and then the title changes which I did not notice but the picture stays the same which was wrong in what I went for in what that said and I had to return item. But besides that. But overall I see more people getting desperate and ripping off the other which is why many store fronts close due to shoplifting. Have to be pc on how that happens. But then again that is how all things work where your tax dollars go to. Even car insurance how a lot of people get into car incidences but not so much crashes to get money from insurance. Happens at certain zip closes as insurances say. Funny how that goes despite roads r just as good.

Even one fake accident in Georgia's went to court and the judge knew it was fake just like everyone, yet the person that did the claim lied got the money and insurance kept their their mouth shut and the judge I heard said that's the ways things go and cant do much about it. The cant pit the scammers in jail simce they would have to put many in the state in jail since that is the scammers source of income. It feels like over 20% of the population scams. Did u know 30% of the population which is the private sector jobs pays for the 60%. The public sector jobs just take as well more than they should. A public sector teacher vs a private sector teach pay is vastly different. It seems no fairness in effort and results. How long will this go on until all resources r gone.
