We bought a limited ascent about four months ago.Sunroof gets stuck open and you have to play with the switch to get it closed.Radio station presets will randomly disappear and have to be reset.Other than that the vehicle is awesome! I absolutely love driving it.The handling,acceleration,the ride,and features are really worth overlooking the radio issue.I love this vehicle.Only get about 20 mpg running around town though

I've had mine since February 1st. No problems with the sunroof (which I LOVE!) or the radio presets. We are having an issue with the newest version of Homelink working with our garage door opener. It's been elevated all the way up to the president of Homelink. That's the only issue I've had. I get around 18 to 19 around Denver metro, but my average speed runs around 24 mph. We went into the Rockies last week and got 26 mpg.

I absolutely love my first Subaru and the Ascent model 2019. I selected the model under the touring, with cloth, which is beautiful in design yet I have every option (nearly) of the touring. Panoramic sun roof, back up auto braking and so on. I don't care for leather so not purchasing gave me more money to purchase the other options! Eyesight is unbelievable. It takes so much pressure off you. I drove 12 hours! with a two breaks on US95 because eyesight and auto cruise adjust helps in bumper to bumper traffic and regular. No need to use your foot on the brake or accelerator! I love the auto hold break at stop lights! No need to keep your foot on the break any longer! The tri-level a/c system is AWESOME and for me in Florida, a/c performance was CRITICAL. I love an ice cold cabin! Thank you Subaru!

100% agree with the crossbars needed from the outback. Those are amazing, why wouldn't they put them on the Ascent? My guess, it must conflict with a patent issue with some other company. We'll see if the 2021 subaru's have them on it.

My wife just bought a 2020 Limited Ascent, and I have some different experiences from what you've stated here. #1: I am just shy of 6 ft tall and yes the head and leg room is ample, except in the third row. I have to slouch a lot to keep my head off the roof #2 the tuning may be different for the 2019 vs the 2020 but I don't feel the power responds the way you describe. There seems to be a huge disconnect between when you press the throttle down and when the engine responds. By comparison my wife's old 2006 4 Runner with a 4.0L V6 (~235 HP) had way more get-up in the low RPM range, and the throttle response was much quicker. Other than these so far the car has been great.

@@stacyreddish4129 honestly I don't know if she notices it, she isn't a car person so as long as it starts and drives she's fine with it. So I have questions that were not addressed in this video. I own a 2018 Forester... a great car. I am 64 years old, and 6'2" and I can get in and out of the Forester without ducking my head around the "A" pillar. With an Outback, and my wife's Imprezza, I have to dodge the pillar. Not ideal for an old man with a stiff neck. Does anyone have an opinion on the "A" pillar of the Ascent? I do not need the 3rd row seating so would want them folded down. My Forester seats three tall people like myself, plus a concert tuba, one each bass and tenor trombones, a French Horn, (all the horns in cases), plus assorted accessory bags, stands, etc. But sometimes I need room for 4 people, and maybe another horn or two. Would the Acsent give me the cargo space I need with the 3rd row seat folded down? Thanks for any help

I would've like the blind spot alert to actually beep when another car was detected if I activate the turn signal. All it does is blink really fast. The Pilot beeps and so does Chrysler/Dodge vehicles. Also the beeping warning for the front forward collision is very low at the maximum volume set up possible. I really dislike that! On Dodge/Chrysler vehicles the Radio actually gets interrupted so you can really hear the warning and snap out of whatever trance you might be on. I tested the Limited with all the bells and whistles and wasn't impress. It looks like a taller Outback. All the headlights from Outbacks, Forester and Ascents are basically the same. How cheap is that!? I mean spend some money in engineering something different. It looks like a soccer's mom car. Telluride has a more beefy look and so does the Atlas (Volkswagen) and they both comes with basically the same features at basically the same price or even less without sacrificing comfort. I think it's cheap engineering in design.
@born2win259
@born2win259 4 жыл бұрын
@@aafunmedia I have to disagree with you. The cars look alike because they are a part of the same family. I wouldn't call that cheap engineering. It's a very good car. The quick blinking is more than enough to let me know it's unsafe to move. I'm sure you can add on something for the little sound you desire. People also thought that outbacks were soccer mom cars too and us guys still drive them and modify them to our taste. You're free to do that to your Ascent. I'm in the process of adding a 2" lift, beefy off-road tires and some light bars and trust me, it looks mean.

My wife, kids, and I just test drove an Ascent, and while it was a nice vehicle, we had a few complaints that made us decide against it. 1. I felt it was missing low end grunt, which I think is because of the CVT transmission. When I put down the peddle, it felt like the vehicle was unsure what to do, an felt clumsy. I felt very nervous pulling out in traffic. My 2008 Honda CRV has a more responsive throttle and low end power. 2. My daughter is in a rear facing car seat (Keyfit30), and the seat had to be moved forward. With the car seat rear facing, my wife who's 5'10 and I 6'3" felt very cramped. Oddly, when we got back into our old Honda CRV we had more leg room up front with the rear facing car seat.

You've mentioned that you think the ascent should have a roof rack like the Outback. After owning 2 Outbacks amd 2 other station wagons over the years my 2017 Subaru Outback has by far the worst rack of any car I've ever owned. The usable area from front to back is extremely narrow. The bars are only a few inches apart making it very difficult to put long roof top boxes on or bike racks. The bike racks have additional problem because of the Subaru cross bars being so wide and oval shape. you need special adapters that are plastic. I wouldnt trust a nice bike up there. If you have very expensive rooftop bike racks from before they will never fit a new Subaru Outback. You're forced to buy a completely new roof rack that is an outback one off. Also the design of the rear tailgate very much limits how far back you can put anything on the roof. The sloping rear window shortens the roof by a good foot and then it has that little spoiler so you can't put anything over it at all. It forces you to move rooftop boxes and bike racks very very far forward on the car.

We recently turned in our 2017 XV Crosstrek vowing to go elsewhere because that CVT was loud. Very good low end power, but none when your going 40 mph. We leased through a credit Union (Educators) so w didn't have the returning lease customer benefits and had to pay $500 for scratches on the car. The Ascent has been in the back of my mind since a few routine service trips to the dealer - I liked it last year. I drive a 2017 Silverado truck (leased) and will turn it in a few months. GM really changed it for 2020 and I do not like the interior at all. I'm not keeping the current one because it's not a crew cab. I test drove a 2020 Ascent and liked the features but was just concerned with a 4 cyl Turbo in a big SUV. I feel more positive now after watching more you tube vid's and the dealer guarantees the drive train for the life of the vehicle. Through Costco I can get a Touring price down to $43K plus tax. I don't want to lease anymore so this would require a bigger monthly tho 0% for 48 months through Subaru. I think it will do the job.

The Outback built-in crossbars are absolutely useless. Yakima and Thule both make superior crossbar systems that utilize the raised rails on the Forester and Ascent, and allow for a range of bar placements vs the Outback's built-ins. Good review vid, but a major fail on that suggested "improvement."

I got this car less than two months ago and now I have a DEAD BATTERY! Seriously? Yeah, I have only made one car payment and already having issues. If the dealer does not upgrade the battery, fix whatever made the problem (Possibly the hatch sensor), PLUS fix the homelink mirror (Never worked, I was not able to pair it to open garage doors) I going to be pissed and raise hell. Love the car but not pleased with so damn early problems. (2020 touring. 2000 miles)

Why would Subaru just use a stick to prop up the hood?! That's nuts! Not too big a fan of the rear but that can easily be fixed. A great follow up to the Tribeca for sure!

Look on the ascent online forums tons and tons of issues with this vehicle from CVT'S failing, moon roof leaks, issues with the engine, eyesight malfunctions. Best to stay away at least for a couple years until they figure out all the bugs.
@zigzag00

Oml, yes of course there is going to be problems because its the first model year! You gotta wait for like 2 or 3 years till they fix it. Every single car has problems on there first model year! Also, there were no issues about cvt in fourms or issues with eyesight. Subaru is a very reliable and honest brand and to even prove it, it scored the #1 most reliable car brand in 2019 on consumer reports and also Kelley blue book.

My Touring just hit 4000 miles. I've not had ANY issues with those items. The only issue is with Homelink - which isn't a Subaru product. it keeps dropping the signal to our garage door opener. The issue has gone all the way up to the president of Homelink. It's a programming issue with their new version (7 I think) mixed with MiQ enabled openers. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT "Blubarua"

Yea, its the first model year for the ascent so of course its going to have problems here and there like other cars on there first model year e.g the vw atlas. Also, now that Subaru has a new updated global platform (they just redesigned the legacy, outback and forester and probably refresh or redesign the impreza and crosstrek soon for 2020) the problems issues are all probably gone and taken care of by Subaru. You just have to wait 2 or 3 years till subaru fixes the problems for the ascent. It also earned the #1 most *reliable* car brand for 2019 and Kelley blue book.
