OrganicToad Facebook, like most of the other companies, have only one agenda - making more money. They will monitor your activity and conversations and feed the data to their AI so that they can post more relevant ads on your feed . For example, I was discussing about some travel plans with my friend on Whatsapp and as soon as I logged into Facebook after that conversation, I started getting ads about hotels in that location and flight deals. You can consider it’s a harmless intrusion of those companies into your lives ,unless you’re a CIA agent and do not want anyone to know your location or plans.

Ok...just ordered FB Portal TV, I already have Amazon Alexa, laptop with camera, smart TV, iPad, smart phone, etc. so why the negativity with this device? The convenience of being able to video my sister in Australia without crowding around a 9.7 inch iPad, and using the best screen in the house..ie my 55 OLED tv, makes a lot of sense. Additionally I feel FB have tried to allay privacy fears by having a screen to switch off the camera, and another to switch off the microphone. Maybe my US cousins are more concerned about this than we are this side of the pond due to Cambridge Analytica and the Russian involvement in the US elections make them more sensitive to this sort of thing? I am no FB fanboy, I do not put my life on it, but do use it to stay in contact with relatives and post holiday snaps etc.

The thing is that if you are living in your basement, you are No One Interrest. People doesn't care at you. You fear that they track something you say? They are already doing it. And you see that cell phone on your desk? It's already sending your GPS location to someone network. "No, i've turned off the GPS"... YYYYYYYYYYYYYeah, sure buddy, i hope you feel comfortable with this, but long story short: They are sending your GPS location somewhere anyway. Maybe less frequently, but they are sending it. They can gather traffic data just by using cells. Are you using your browser constantly in "Private Mode"? Nah.... so do a quick search on google, amazon, or whatever. Let's say... look for a network switch. Then go to facebook, and suddently you will notice ad's talking about Network Switch! Coincidence? yeah... sure... Not to mention, Apple, Google, Amazon, and Microsoft are doing everything that FB and everyone else is doing. I don't have a problem with a person who has privacy concerns. My point is: Have some damn consistency with your concerns for heaven's sake!

1:00 I hate to break it to you but pretty much everyone has a face book camera & mic in their home and on them at all times! Nothing new about this.

Facebook trying to stay relevant. A lot of people have turned away by not posting so much or logging in their account. It’s reached its plateau. Just like MySpace , people are bored with Facebook.

Look I understand about the invasive side of this. I would just use it to talk to my parents with the kids as we are distant to each other. After that... I’ll just fucking unplug it and only reconnect when I want to talk to them again.

The portal is a cool bit of kit, primarily because it's in a niche market. No other product can use WhatsApp and Facebook to make video calls in your living room, we have family and friends in the USA, Europe, Africa, middle East and Australia and this is an awesome product to connect us. I agree with the privacey issues, we have the microphone and camera covered when not in use. However until someone comes up with a viable alternative..... Portal TV it is.... Bring on the haters 😂🙈

I don’t think this have to do anything with all the conspiracy theories you trying to make. I really think it’s an awesome product and would be very useful, I was looking for something like this for a while to communicate with my family because I live far away from them. Also, Skype tried to do the same thing in the past and failed. These type of projects takes a long time and money to produce it just for a political reasons!
