I have my own cup called the loyal cup It's big, clean, and keeps heat for a long time, and I can use it a thousand times for free Also you can put it in your bags

honestly i think this one might work. even the compostable part. i can compost and entire amazon delivery box including the tape. box will break down in like a month since its just cardboard. the tape takes longer but its just paper and thread with a starch based adhesive. this cup may takes several months but i can see it composting fine

I like it. I think one drawback is that you pretty much have to drink out of it closed I don't think you'd want to try and sip from it open. To be honest lids aren't perfect anyway, they can pop off, they'll leak.

Wondering about the corners where the lid folds looks like a potential leak. You would think they've looked into it visually? I'm not so sure.

The sticker to seal it is an issue. It means if you want to add creamer or sugar yourself and not have the barista do it you'll have a loose flap. I think a bigger step would be to have places like Starbucks put cold drinks in paper cups. That would reduce more plastic than anything else. We always drank cold drinks in paper cups until the 90's. It's nothing crazy and easy to transition to.

coffee cups themselves have microplastics which leach into your coffee when you drink from it. this is why milk cartons go with the plastic in recycling.

That’s a good question but I have an answer. Simply put… the design. It’s cheaper and easier to make those molds for the lids. Think about what the top of a plastic lid looks like. Logos, small text, design ect. Hard to do that with cardboard

@@FaithFallRepentGraceRepeat the two piece design requires some seal. Paper lid on paper cup does not seal without other mating material such as rubber. Needs some elasticity; plastic lid provides that. Now the one piece paper design could work as there is no need to seal multiple pieces.

I bought a pack of plastic straws from asia, i carry a plastic straw around in my pocket and reuse it. When im finished i cut it up. This is safer than a steel straw. straws are only a problem because of the people throw them away .

It amazes me that we already have the solution to this, but everyone is like "no, we need a new, startup-created, futuristic solution". Plastic. Most plastics are infinitely recyclable. Stop making things food and liquids go in, WATER SOLUBLE!

It's very hard to replace plastic straws because they are so cheap, and there is not much that could be done to change the design .... But plastic cups, there is a lot that could be done to improve the design, and the new design could use different materials. Hopefully the inventor won't patent the thing.

That's a good argument you gave, and when it's not bio degradable fast there's a big chance it won't be good for your health on the long term, but so are plastic coatings in the paper cups. If your not shure it's safer to use a normal porcelain cup
