In my country, the 4060 is currently 40-60 bucks cheaper than the 7600 xt. Couple that with the fact it has a much lower TDP and can be small enough to fit in small form factor builds, makes it a GPU I'm heavily considering. This is not me saying it's better than the 7600 xt, but there are scenarios where it has a place in someone's rig. FIY, I've not decided on the 4060. Prices here haven't dropped as much as it did in the US so I'm holding pulling the trigger on any GPU until we catch up in prices. Edit: Wow! Thanks for the positive replies. I recommend waiting for the blackwell gpu's to launch, because when they do the 4060 will drop in price atleast a little bit. And if the vram is an issue and you still want a small form factor build the 4060ti is also an option considering the 16gb vram option

​​@@Arthur77888Desktop 4060 is bad for its price, but the laptop 4060 is actually the sweet spot, as laptops with it are on sale pretty often and it's basically the only laptop card that closely matches its desktop counterpart. Not sure if it's enough for "heavy tasks" (it'll struggle with AI and heavy Blender workloads, for instance), but it's a damned good card when it comes to 1080p or even light 1440p gaming.

Retailer here. Here is why 4060 is the preferred GPU where I'm at: 1. People don't like buying used 2. Its the 'newest'. Even though 3060 12GB is cheaper and available new 3. RX 7600 is very close in price, so people will spend extra for those Nvidia 'features' 4. RX 7600 XT is higher priced. Average joe prefer whichever is cheaper The most famous new AMD GPU here is the RX 6600 because it is priced close to the 3050 8GB while being wayyy better in performance

Those "features" are just too good now. The super resolution for improving streaming video or videos played in vlc player alone is a selling point for me. far less the fake hdr and frame gen. Thing is all this stuff is new and we are in a weird time period. All that stuff will probably be standard presets for all cards in five years. Nvidia can't ride this wave forever.

I can say 2 things about this video: 1. Prices are different. I chose 4060 not because it is better than three other card but because it was MUCH cheaper. Im not talking about 10 dollars, more like 50 to 200 depends on the cards and shops. 2. It may be a good deal to buy a used card in your world, but sadly where I live you wouldn't want to try your fate out with such stuff. If in the official shops you can get rocks instead of the stuff you ordered, imagine what you can get from second hands? With no warranty and almost no chances to get your money back. For those who has no money for 4060 and analogs I would recommend rx 580. Yep, its a very old card and you probably won't be able to play some new dumb 200 gb empty open world games, but you can run like 99,99% of games in the world with less to no issues. And it costs like 60-100 bucks depends on the market. And this one you can actually buy used cuz they are usually pretty immortal xd

I agree as I was also looking for GPU in Jan this year been using 10603gb since 2017-18 and I am satisfied with 4060 cz there are not many other options in my country prices are high for no reason. I won't be maxing out settings anyway so 4060 is doing well paired with my i5 10th gen. 16GB of VRAM is JUICY! I got the 6800 XT thanks to your chart and found it for $250 used, fired up RE4 Remake maxed out without Ray Tracing and it's eating up 12GB VRAM and since I always have firefox on my second monitor it shots up to 14GB VRAM used. It's insane how we still getting 8GB cards for $300 or even more. Raise our standards. 8GB for less $250, get 12GB minimum for $250-350, anything above $350 should have minimum 16GB of VRAM. Sharp textures look nice, guys. And it would avoid stuttering when running out of it since it had to load it off to your system RAM.

Congrats you got an incredible deal and it's an excellent card. I got mine in 2022 and it has played and streamed everything I want with maxed settings in 1440p. For anyone considering buying one, just know that the only thing the 6800 XT doesn't do well is ray tracing. Technically it can do it but it's better to just max all the settings and turn off RT. Remember what year the card came out.

Although I do wish to see more VRAM on the affordable cards, I don't really agree that we should be basing pricing off of VRAM or vice versa. Then we'd eventually get into the territory of RTX 3050 16GB cards that wouldn't even be powerful to utilize all the VRAM. It would just be a marketing ploy at that point.

Got this a bit ago as an upgrade from my 1660 Ti and am totally satisfied with it. I don't like buying used parts and it was within my budget. Now I have access to DLSS and can max out almost every game I have, and on those I can't, I can still play them on high and get above 60fps. Playing the new SH2 remake on high with raytracing and am getting good framerates, and that's before an Nvidia driver update to help with performance.

Ignoring RayTracing is one thing. But you can't ignore DLSS. You can play CP2077 in 4K with DLSS in Ultra Performance Mode on a 4060 and unless you take a really close look at a still frame, you don't see that it's actually just rendered in 720p. That's how good DLSS is!

Currenty in UK Reasons to opt for 4060 Cost (24% cheaper) RTX 4060: £254 RX 7600 XT : £335 As an aside the RX 7600 XT is 20% cheaper than the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti: at £419 but the Ti generally outperforms it even though it is only a 165W card so from that perspective it would make more sense (for the UK market anyway) to compare those cards - both also have 16Gb of VRAM as well. Running Cost (75W less TDP) RTX 4060: 115W RX 7600 XT : 190W G3D Rating RTX 4060: 19,885 RX 7600 XT : 17,276 Performance differential is not massive and many people will not want to go to the hassle and expense of potentially replacing their PSUs so there are actually quite a few good reason to go for the 4060. Graphics cards are also not soley just for gaming either and NVIDIA cards are generally preferred by content creators.

I got 6700xt gpu from local used market for $200. It was used for mining ofc, but the seller gave me personal warranty for a week, so I gave it a try. There is nvidia hate virus epidemic going on if you didnt notice. This guy failed to note how versatile and low power 4060 is. It cooks even rx 6800 just when you need it the most, titles like wukong and alan wake 2. On the AMD side they just refreshed last gen and put the same price. 7600 series is less power efficient than 6600 series. Also, 7800xt is slower than 6800xt and offers same last gen RT support. It is very biased crtisicm. Basically telling customers "you dont need RT, you dont need FG, you dont care about TDP, you only need raster and vram. He selectively prizes very aspects that amd is giving more - just raw resourses that failed miserably in above mentioned games. But this recommendation of 3070 over 4060 is really incredible..i can just say this guy is a fking idiot.

I think to omit DLSS and Frame Generation at this price point is a mistake, that makes all the difference at this tier of performance and is not available on the other cards or is not of the same quality (FSR). Although the 3070 does have DLSS at least. Comparing new, with warranty, against second hand with the risk that comes with that is not ideal.

10-12GB is the sweet spot for video ram in Windows 10/11. 6GB is not enough and 8gb is fine, but not quite optimal. But, more than about 12 is really overkill. If you can get 16GB for the same price, though,, it's a good bit of headroom and gives you more options later on.

Ima be going for 3070, I know its "just" 8gb of vram but I don't care that much if im gonna have to have HIGH textures instead of ULTRA because most of vram is used by textures, geometry and then frame buffer in which I have 1080p monitor so its not gonna be high too. I will be playing lots of vr so extra vram would help but since nvidia has better encoder by a huge margin it matters for me more since quest 2 relies on stream instead of DP/HDMI, and since for now most of the vr games runned somewhat on 4 gigs of vram I think 8 will do for 1-3 years when its time for new upgrade.

2:35 FYI, 7200MHz is much slower than 6000MHz on Ryzen 7000 because the memory controller has to run in 2:1 mode to keep up with the high memory clock😭

I don’t know whether it’s my display or my gpu, whenever I tried playing games on 1080p to gain FPS, the visual would look blurry as if gaussian blur was applied to the pixels. I have to play games in 1440p for it to be viewable. The only times 1080p doesn’t look like that is when I play emulator games such as PPSPP or PCSX2. Even older games on 1080p would look blurry on my display.

I got an RTX 3070 from ebay in August for £215. The problem is its now October and as of 2 days ago my pc stopped recognising it. Its still spins up but there's no video and it's not showing in device manager when checking with the onboard graphics. Tried it in my backup pc and got the same. Apparently a component by in the board has become faulty so it isnt pulling enough power. So now I have a £215 brick and onboard graphics. Wish I'd just saved up for the 7900gre. This is only my second time buying pre-owned and the second time getting a bad card. Never again.

When I look at the tests results this is what I see: The 4060's average FPS was 60+ for every single game (unlike the 7600 XT), meaning every game was reasonably playable on high/ultra settings. So by choosing the 4060 you get 100% playability, a new card, Nvidia's DLSS tech (and Raytracing if you care) and *lower TDP than all of your other options* so based on your own video I would definitely choose a 4060 if the price was similar to the other options. You would likely make back any price difference in energy savings over 1-2 years of use, you have a new card (with a warranty) and the latest tech. The fact of the matter is that your CPU is more likely to hinder your 1080p gaming experience than only having 8 GB of VRAM. At lower resolutions the limited RAM capacity is not really hurting you that much.

It has been a couple years so far, but my 5700X with RX 6700 XT are still doing well in gaming. Recently started playing in 3440x1440 so I have to rely on FSR and Fluid Motion Frames for decent performance. Far Cry 6 has been maxing out my 12GB Vram recently. Makes me wonder how well the 8gb 4060 in my laptop would do.

In blender, RX 7600 XT scores 1300 while RTX 4060 scores 3100. More than thrice. VRAM makes no difference on entry level cards and also it's cheaper. In games as well the difference is negligible. The video creator is gullible for suggesting any other card for that price. Also used cards may perform good for now, but remember half of the life is already gone, so technically it should be less than half in price. But that's never the case, hence forget these old cards.

The 3070 still is a great card when bought for around 250 Euro's. Ill try to pick up a 6700xt for a new build, they sell for around 260 here in the Netherlands. Also the 3060ti is interesting, i saw those just shy of 200 euros.

Zach, question: so currently i see the 4060 on sale for eur 279 here in Europe. In terms of optimizing FPS/$ for CS2 SPECIFICALLY, I cannot for the life of me find a better deal, even including older cards like the 3060 ti etc etc. Competitive CS2 may be an exception, but please let me know if I am missing something. example: 4060 8gb CS2 @ 1080p: avg FPS=366 1% low=226 for. €279 RX 7600XT 16gb CS2 @ 1080p: avg FPS=299. 1% low=142 for €340 Even if the RX 7600 drop to below €300 or to the SAME price, I'm not even close in terms of FPS / €. I tried this with every major card i can think of and get the same result. I know I am not the only one trying to optimize for 240Hz 1080p esports titles, so keen to read or hear your thoughts. I have no stake in NVIDIA, I am literally just trying to solve this.

This depends on your area here in my place 4060's cost almost the same as 7600XT, however the problem here is the reselling value of AMD gpus isn't the same as Nvidia.

If you are considering used i think a 2080ti would be a good one to add into the comparison, very similar raw performance to a 3070 while also not suffering the main drawback of only having 8GB of VRAM with 11GB. Subjectively i think alot of the coolers for it (in part because it is a flagship card) look way better, my personal favorites are the Gigabyte Aorus and referance design. Price is a tossup with plenty avalible for both around me for $350 CAD

8Gb isn't the only limiter for the 4060. The card should have been given a PCI-E X16 and at least a 192 bit memory buss like it's precursor, the 3060. Nvidia did us all dirty be cutting it down so massivly. Imagine how the same card would have performed with a full spec like the 3060. Also why the 8Gb of memory when the 3060 had 12??? Yeah, Nvidia did all gamers dirty and expected to be applauded for it.

For my use case is perfect, headless homeserver with 4060 for local game streaming. It works like a charm and it does not use a lot of power. Plus if you see Parsec recommendations, they always recommend Nvidia. My client is a very cheap Asus Oled Laptop (basically a thin client), this is giving me a very nice experience, 1080p at 60fps in a Oled 1080p screen.

yeah this shows, that there is not that typical improvments on the nvidia side. in regular cases u will get at least 70s performance out of the newer 60s series. for the 4060 should at least perform like a 3070. so i guess it should be a 4050 and the 4060 ti should be the 4060. its hard overprized. and ill go straight forward to the 6700 xt or 3070 if i can.

I'm looking for a sub $500 GPU and I WANT a 4070 Super to upgrade from my current 3070ti, but Nvidia is so expensive now. So I've been looking at prices for the Rx 7800 XT and a lot of them are priced new at $479 and perform as well as a 4070 Super with 16GB VRAM. Will likely get one by the end of summer, or the by the end of the year.

Ive got a 2080ti, which is basically a 3070 with more vram. I think a used 2080ti is a better option if you can find one and want nvidia. 11gb of vram isn’t a ton, but its definitely better than 8gb. Ive seen games exceed 8gb of vram before with this card, so I’m glad Ive got 11gb.
