it just depends on you needs... I will never have a phone without a pen. I use it every time I have tons of notes that I use everyday. I'm a engineer and I make quick sketches on field, take pictures of a structure and make notes over the picture, meeting notes, quick reminders, the pen is very useful for me. Love my Note 8

for creative people, artists this is worth the price. i work as a musician and i like to paint in my spare time. Let me start with the accuracy of the pen. It's amazing. Samsung designed this app that comes along with this phone to draw things. But no, it's not a microsoft paint copy! The way colors mengle when you use the "brush" option is almost identical to the way it does on a real painting. For me it's a good way to create some digital work or make some high quality sketches but i truly believe this can be good quality working tool for professional designers. It's more accurate than my 700 euro drawing tablet (around 820 dollars). The camera's are amazing. The isocell sensor is genius and the diafragma on these lenses are heavenly haha. I can make bright pictures in darker area's, thats a blessing after all these years of blurry pics. But now the most important part : the audio. It supports 32 bit audio on a largeeeeeee frequency. The stats of this phone and its audio support are similar to a Presonus studio 192 audio interface. That device is priced around 900 euro's (thats more than a 1000 dollars). As a musician i was always bound to the studio. I'm a producer. It's important for me to give these songs a good listening once in two days at least. To check the songs in that same quality i had to make a 40 minutes drive every 2 days, take that device home everyday or buy 2 of the same devices so i can listen to the songs at home. This phone gives me the chance to listen to the songs when i'm in the bus or just sitting on the couch. Without a joke, i can now do double the work i did before because i can use the time at my working space to invest in different tasks. When a coworker wants my opinion i dont have to come over just to check it out a few minutes. Is this phone expensive? Yes, for people who use their phone just for some regular things. No, for musicians, designers, engineers etc. I paid a lot of money for this phone. The other option was way more expensive and would consume more of my time. So not for everyone it's expensive when you place in the bigger picture.

TheLily97232 yeah! (Sorry when i dont make sense but im from the Netherlands so english isnt my native tongue) Now some while later i discovered so much more haha this phone is so awesome. The 360 degrees/vr mode on the cam is awesome. It still has some flaws but hey they dont really have source material. I used the pro mode next to some professional cameras of my friends. I saved my files as raw files. They used a canon 5d mark 3 with a 24-70mm lens. We opened the files in photoshop and with good lighting i cant win tho. The good thing is, the differences in quality can be seen when you zoom in untill you see 20% of the picture. So for professional purposes as a photographer a real camera still is the beter option. But keep in mind the price of this camera with the right lenses can be around 5 to 6 times the price of the note 8. With low light they had to use a lens with a 1500 euro pricetag (i guess thats around 2000 dollar) to get rid of the noise. We made pictures at a concert. Next to that it took them 15 minutes to adjust the camera to the best setting. It took me 25 minutes but i got rid of almost all of the noise. When i zoom in on a total black spot i can see some noise but it doesnt look disturbing. The first thing i thought is: fucking hell thid phone is cheap! You have to know how to use it. When you do its the best phone ever. Im a neutral phone seller in a town near Amsterdam and my job is provision based. For every iphone x sale i get a bonus. I didnt sell one yet. Because my customers see what happens when i talk about that overpriced phone and when i talk about this one. Im the type of guy that buys every phone and turns in his old phone. Im about to purchase the LG V30 but i'll pay the full price. I dont want to turn in this phone! Just in case. Because i believe no phone will top this for a long while. The only negative thing is that there isnt a dual sim version in the netherlands. There was in the first shipment but they pulled it back because of some stupid laws in this country.

@@oseesome1253 thanks, I only had some problems with... updating it it doesn't want to update and I can't enable VoLTE, the stylus didn't work well but I managed to get another one that worked from the shop I got it from, I just have to get the updating thing sorted, it seems to think that it's half-rooted that is odd it's brand new, the screen looks beautiful and with the stylus it looks so fun to draw on, it's quite powerful even if I got an N950F/DS with a 2.3 Ghz processor instead of 2.32, but it's alright, lag is rare and the finger print placement isn't the best but the iris scanner is really good and use it mainly

I'm a med student and I'm constantly on my S pen, and I use 90% - if not a 100%- of it's features. I honestly don't know what I'd do without it. It's *everything* to me. My new note 8 is coming tomorrow and I just can't wait, I haven't been using a note phone for the last 6 months since my old Note 4 malfunctioned, and I can tell you, it's been *hell* . It's not even about having the latest note for me, it's just that almost a year later, I managed to buy a note 8 for less than half the original price. I wouldn't dream of buying a phone for almost a grand... That's just not something I could afford, nor be able to live with... So I get your point about pricing, it's just that an alternative for us die hard note fans, is an older cheaper note phone, not a pen-less phone.

Note 3 here. I don't agree with the "don't buy" advice when it comes to specs and features on the Note 8, and if I could I would buy it, but can't afford it and my Note 3 still works wonderfully. Nothing a new battery can't remedy in the future, and honestly not in the bandwagon "new phone, gotta have it", because priorities: college (masters), for instance. If you have the money and are interested in acquiring the Note 8, go for it.

Well my note8 was expensive indeed BUT , 5 years with it now and still goes strong. Will replace the battery (its ok for now but is for future proofing) to take it 2 or maybe 3 more years. Bixby isn't the same as Google, despite what some people say. Granted, it does do some of the same things as Google, but bixby is more driven towards the hardware of the phone. Google can't really do that, because of the Android permissions. As a person who looks for complete automation of my phone (meaning creating software in order to control certain hardware aspects), this is a great feature to help me do that stuff.

I've owned iPhone 7 plus and Galaxy S8 Plus, I'm not gonna talk about which OS is better or not but I've got to say the screen is really what got me to switch to Galaxy s8 plus. iPhone's IPS 1080p display is just too ordinary compare to S8's 1440p infinity display. I don't want to say which phone is better because they are both really good phones but for me screen is something you stare at all the time and it feels so satisfying looking at s8 screen than iPhone in my opinion.

FightingLikeAWoman Lance sure. I love my Note 8. It feels like an updated , improved and sexy version of my old phone (the Note 3). I've been using the S pen for years and it's about just as useful as it was before. Useful. I use the pen a lot for Google sheets, writing on screenshots like it was pen and paper, and other little things makes the pen for useful, for me. But if the pen wasn't here, I would still love the phone, but would not be able to rely on it for so many tasks. Split screen usage is great on this phone. Love being able to create app pairs and pick them. Saves me about 10-12 seconds from the previous way. Battery. Your experience is very customizable. I love the beauty of the screen. And I love my screen bright. I always use high performance mode, making my screen resolution as high as possible and leaving my Max brightness in use durng the day. I have location, NFC, Bluetooth and always on display turned on. I get around 6 hours of screen on time. Yeah, you can get through a day easily with the phone. But it depends how you use it of course. You can make the phone die in about half a day with all the settings I have on with continuous usage. But it also has an amazing battery saving function that can give you a big battery boost. I used it when I was at Lake Tahoe and I used it for 14 hours screen on time over 2 days. Xeetexh is a good channel that will show you some battery comparisons to the iPhone or LG V30. I'm writing a lot, but I don't get replied to often on KZbin, so why not? I love my note 8. Camera, screen, software everything. I've had the phone since September 15th or so.

Sierra Merchant the Battery life is decent. It's better than the iPhone X. Unless I'm watching videos for HOURS, I'm talking 4 to 5 hours of video while connected to WiFi, the battery life easily last me all day with about 25% battery life remaining, and that's with heavy use. It's a valid comparison because there is very little difference between the new note and the s8 that the average consumer would be interested in... even makes that a feature of the video. Many people went out and bought Note devices because the screen was huge back before the screen bloat became commonplace for all models. Now an S8 starts above 5.5 inches of screen and there are probably still people shopping for Galaxy Notes out of habit instead of making informed purchases. A video to inform people isn't a bad video.

You're right. It has no competition in its class. But that doesn't mean its the best or "only productive" smartphone out there... Everyone has different needs and different uses for a phone. Some prefer iOS, some prefer android, some prefer S Pens, etc.

This issue is not exclusive or especially prevalent to the Note 8, but even 4 or 6GB of ram, it still can't hold two broken pencils and a used condom. A fucking 2 year old POS iPhone 6s outperforms or ties the RAM management on the Note 8, with 1/3 the RAM for gods sake.

Hey Lew! I work at a phone repair shop and think you could add phone repair costs to your videos! it would educate people on what they are buying, because i dont know of anyone else even approaching that subject. you have enough influence to get the word out. at my shop the samsung S8 screen repair is $369 and the s8+ is $399! now thats for an actual samsung screen from samsung but we dont do shoddy work. those repair costs are astronomical! the iphone 7 costs $179 for a screen repair and the 7+ is $199. thats an enormous difference in price and i think people deserve to know! nobody buys a Lamborghini without even asking about repair costs so you shouldnt buy a phone without knowing what it would cost to fix it!

Nucleargravity he's completely right Lew. The price is astronomical for repair on these phones. We charge $300 for glass repair for the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus and 375 for glass and LCD. It's absolutely crazy pricing
