Interesting video thank you it is a good idea to use rigidizer to avoid breathing of fibers.👍👍👍 i also use it

Food for thought... wet aluminmum into molten aluminum can cause an explosion. Do not push cans through the top hole... it will exellerate destruction of kayowool. Shred the cans before hand for better reclaim %. Overall good video. But be careful, cause you already walking that line hard.

I'm in the process of making a shredder. I am aware of the moisture and yes that can be very dangerous, thank you. Also thank you for the input.

the alternate to cardboard on your firebrick, is to just give the crucible a little twist before you lift. my brick has never moved using this technique

Excellent video! I have bought the same model here in the uk,and am doing my 1st melt tmrw. I have some copper ,and also some aluminium to experiment with. Should be fun I'm wondering how long 13kg of propane will last? Any ideas..
@thetoolguy823 ай бұрын
13 kg converts to 28 lb. We have 20 lb tanks and I can get several melts out of one tank. The biggest problem is freezing if you run it for a long time.

Maybe pottery glaze or sand would help with that firebrick if the cardboard doesn't work out for you .
@thetoolguy82 Жыл бұрын
Would pottery glaze hold up to them high temps?
@Airon79 Жыл бұрын
@thetoolguy82 Not sure . All I know is that a kiln is required to harden the glaze , there aren't any videos on doing it , though . If you did decide to do it , I think you'd be the first .
@KazuhiroAridian Жыл бұрын
Pottery glazes work by melting at different temps to turn to glass, the hardening happens when you cool the molten glass. Don't think this is what you'd be after here. @@Airon79

@@Airon79kilning pottery is done to melt the glaze,not harden it. The glaze hardens as it cools and transforms from molten to solid

@howardosborne8647 Oh , Thanks for responding and what exactly is glaze ? Is it a form of glass and what temperatures can it handle ?

Great video cheers, looking at getting one soon - did the liquid hardener come with it or you bought it separately?
@thetoolguy82 Жыл бұрын
I had to buy the rigidizer separately. Check out my links for your choice.

Since Silver and Brass have a similar melting point it should be able to melt Silver.

Did you apply any refractory cement? Or did the volcano replace it?

I did not put any refractory cement but I wish I had. When this needs replaced I will use refractory cement next time.
