Don't buy the Withings Steel HR!!!!!!!!!!!!

A fine watch but super outdated from a company that seems less than interested in releasing their flagship product in the USA.
Basically, if you buy the Steel HR, you'll wish you waited for the ScanWatch.

Tried the Sport HR in black and white dials, the white was slightly easier to read in sunlight. But as mentioned in other comments, the mineral glass scuffs and scratches too easy. Returned both. Was waiting since last year like everyone else, but with Techtember around the corner, not sure if I want to shell out money for imperfect tech.

You are missing the point. This watch is so called a hybrid watch, the whole gimic and point of the watch is to have its smart features, however stay as classic as it can be. You also compared it to an apple watch like a lot of other folk do, but that's not fair of a comparison, because apple watches are claiming that they are a smartwatch, not a hybrid watch. At least that's my opinion

I get what you're saying, but the problem is, and including with the new ScanWatch, I dont feel like Withings is doing that great of a job with implementation. Watch our ScanWatch video and we go into a little more reasoning as to how they can "improve" the platform.

I have a Withings Steel for 2 years now. And it’s a very simple watch that I love. The battery life, the design. Very easy and clear to use

The app has got worse and worse over time and they have also put features behind a pay way. About 2+ years ago it was so simple and great. Not anymore.

I’ve had a steel for 4 years and I love it. I just don’t like the removed swim lane counting, was very disappointed about that as it was one of the cooler features. Also been wearing it with a crack the last year and need to take the effort to replace the glass with sapphire which seems doable. I have been trying to find a comparable watch but there just aren’t any that have long battery live, some message/call notification if I need it, and swim tracking, that still look good on a woman’s arm.

I have the old Nokia withings. I bought the black scan watch and love it. I have just recently bought the horizon and the craftsmanship is 10/10. It's the underdog of the smart watch industry

If I go cycling for exactly one hour on two consecutive days the Steel HR will tell me that I've burnt exactly the same amount of calories even though on the second day I've cycled much faster and followed much more challenging route. In other words, the Steel HR does not take into account my heart rate or distance in the calculation/estimation of total calories burnt during the excercise. It just takes the time I've been cycling and multiplies with a variable (depending on age, sex, weight) to get the estimated calories burnt. I wonder how the other smart watches are tracking total calories burnt during an exercise.

Each watch does it a little different with their own algorithms. Suffice to say no watch is 100% accurate, but the Garmin, Polar, and Apple for sure have better tracking equipment than the Steel HR.

Horrible review. No data. Just a bad review. I have been using the scanwatch for a year now. ( Bought through EU store) and it's amazing. Had the same Steel HR before and it was amazing as well.

Withings customer service always answer my requests within 12 hours and never had a buggy watch with them. After firmware update of course...😮😮

I've had a Steel HR for over 3 years. I've loved it, even though it's not been free of problems. The version I got has a case problem that allows some water vapor to form inside, which fogs up the glass in certain conditions. And a while ago the LED screen stopped altogether. But the watch still reports data to my phone, and with that I still find it more useful than other fitness bands I've had, as it not only provides steps and heart rate, but also just acts and looks like a normal watch, while having 25 days of battery life rather than a Fitbits 7 or an Apple Watch's 2-3. But the failed LED bugs me. I'd replace it with a new Steel HR in a heartbeat if it WEREN'T for the looming possibility of a Scanwatch release here in the USA. Because you just know, if I dropped dollars on a new Steel, the Scanwatch would be released the very next day. So, I wait. and Wait. Still waiting. With no word of any progress, and full knowledge that they've been selling the Scanwatch in Europe for over a year. It's like they are begging one of their competitors to come up with a better product while they drag their heels on this.

It had an awful glass. I cannot believe this. It easily cracks. I am really disappointed with my purchase.

Yeah the bubble'd glass is reflective and scratches easily. The ScanWatch should solve that issue (saphire flat glass) but we're now in the second half of 2021 and we STILL haven't gotten a word on US release. Withings, come on....

Too bad this wasn't out a year earlier earlier. Bye bought the Withings Steel HR and it's by far the most unreliable smartwatch i own! And i own many. Nearly all notifications never get to the watch. I've been so frustrated trying it every 3 to 4 months hoping it's software has improved. They seem to have abandoned it.

Wait until your crystal cracks. I think I bumped against a wall gently cracked mine. Couldn't see the crack but there was fog on the screen. Notice it with a magnifying glass. Never had that happened to a $25 watWatch.Chunk
