There seems to be a few people misunderstanding what I said in the video. I do NOT say that you shouldn't buy takedown models and should only buy more expensive top end models. What I do say, and explain in the video, is that not all takedown models are equal. Just because a shoe is cheap, that does not make it a good value or good in general. Like I explain, there are certain takedown models that I don't think are very good, therefore you should not buy them, because there are better takedown models available, for the same price or less. If there is another boot in the same price range or even a better boot for less, that's the one you should buy and that's the point of this video. Not all of the boots in this video are "bad", but they definitely aren't the best option or value for sure.

I have to disagree when it comes to the copa 17.2. Of course the 17.1 is better but as a more affordable version it was great. It was comfortable and soft with the real leather. I scored 25 goals last season.

I don't think the Copa 17.2 is a bad shoe, but for the same price you can get the Nike Premier, Nike Tiempo Legacy 3 or even the Gloro, all boots that feature better quality and/or more leather. It's an OK shoe, but definitely not the best option in that price range or category.

Oh I definitely agree that those cleats are better. But I really want the copa to make a comeback because that is my favorite line besides the predator line. But the nemeziz takedowns are trash. I have a turf pair, and the feel of it feels like it's not me dribbling. I watch your vids and I know that you are a reliable source for information on cleats and equipment. Sorry I just think if his objective to inform people about shoe specs and other accessories, then should be critiqued on that kind of content (Which I think he does really well, since he helped me with learning about materials and which kind of cleats I would probably prefer). Nevertheless, I do agree he has gotten so much better overtime because he keeps up with shoe advancements and never fails to provide useful information thanks to his experience in research and retail.

The mid-cut helps with not getting anything in the shoe, such as turf, grass, dirt, etc which is a pain to take out or wear, the mid-cut also give a much better fit, such as it won’t come out and will feel more snug and comfortable

The collar, depending on how tightly it wraps your ankle, definitely can help with keep turf pellets out of your boots, I agree 100%. The fitting better thing simply isn't true.

Did you watch the whole video. I said that I liked the upper and thought it was better quality, or that I at least preferred it to the upper on the X 17.1. I than explained how I didn't like almost everything else such as the awkwardly stiff soleplate, the shallow fit in the heel and the weight of the boot not being up the standard that you expect from that style of shoe. I concluded that the upper was great, but everything else was not.

The Hypervenom Phantom 3 low cuts are what I'm wearing right now. They are a good performing and comfortable shoe. If you're somebody that is looking for a new soccer cleat, I would highly recommend these.

I just bought a glitch starter pack today, and its coming tomorrow. From what I see it looks like the glitch is cheaper, since an adidas boot costs like 300-350$ while the Glitch is seperate has better colors for less and the glitch boots gets a lot of discounts. Today it was only 99 euros for a starter pack while they usually cost like 250-300 euros. But I will have to try them out to see if it is as bad as you say. btw NIce video and awesome channel.

skinnymon123 Don't forget that you can also get good older takedowns for sale. As an example, you may find a pair of Vapor 10s for under 100 dollars right now. You may also find a pair of Veloces (from that year, which was nearly the exact same shoe) for less hab 40 dollars. Which one are you going to buy? So good takedowns can always be a good value, even if they are an older model.

I just wanted to say that takedowns can be just as good as older highend models. The Tiempo Legacy with its k-leather upper is arguably better than any other boot that has a calfskin upper as an example.

Josh, you forget some of the younger players have never played in a low cut option so they prefer the collar. My 9 year son for example, says he feels more secure in mid cut style boots, especially the Hypervenoms

I get that mid-cuts are becoming more "normal" these days, but that doesn't mean you should pay more just to have it if it isn't benefiting the final product. Everyone is entitled to there own opinions on any product, but if we're talking about objective performance, which is the focus of this video, you're not getting anything more for the extra money that you're spending. I'm not saying don't buy mid-cuts, I'm just saying don't spend more money unless you're actually getting a better product.

I agree with everything apart from the hypervenom DF. The low cut has a terrible heel area, similar to what used to be on the original superflys. It's low and made of a smooth shiny plastic type material that doesn't lock the heel down! The midcut version is stiffer in the heel to start but loosens n moulds to your foot, it's a much better fitting boot for me personally (I've tried both). To say the mid cut does nothing just isn't true! It wraps your foot inside the boot better giving more lock down and also definitely adds ankle stability to the boot! These 2 points alone make it a much better boot let alone the heel issues with the low cut!

I disagree with you, but everyone's entitles to their own opinions and preferences of course. I didn't say that the Phantom 3 DF is bad, I just don't think that's it's worth the extra $50 over the low. I do prefer the low though, and it is definitely lighter. The liner material is the same in both the mid and low by the way. I can't say that agree that the mid offers more stability or lockdown.

Yup! I agree with mid cut. I had phalon and they don't feel any different from the other shoes, instead I was getting irritated with that sock after some days. I recommend as well not to waste your money on mid cut shoes. The best shoes I have ever had were tiempo. Those were the best ones!

I don't think either one is better, they're simply different when it comes to fit and feel. The $20 price difference between the two shouldn't be a huge factor in that choice in my opinion. It all depends on what type of fit and feel that you're looking for.

I strongly disagree. Shoes have gotten significantly lighter over the last 10 years because that's what the vast majority of consumers want. If the Magista Ibra 2 weighed 10 ounces and not 7, it would be far less popular. Adidas restructured all of their boots around the success of the original F50 adizero from 2010. Why do all top-end Adidas models have Sprintframe soleplates, or variations of it? Because it makes the boots significantly lighter.

That's not what I said at all. I said that there are certain takedown models, the ones that I name in this video, that aren't as good as other equivalently priced and categorized takedown models that are available. You shouldn't buy them not because they're unwearable, although some of them are worse than others, but because they are far from the best option at those price ranges.

I am perhaps older than many of your subscribers so I have to say something here about Football Boots. If you are a good player it wouldn't matter if you where wearing a pair of work boots. Most if not all the present football boots are about style above function, yes they are light because they are plastic and it dosent matter one iota how many fancy bubbles or colour combinations you see on modern boots. Get a good pair ( adidas or puma) of soft leather boots which will give you all the control and feeling you will ever need and last a lot longer

I would NOT recommend the adidas ace 17.3 takedown model as the fit is terrible man, such a slim boot and my feet aren't too wide which is very disappointing as the boots get uncomfortable after short periods of use.

Josh, can you do a Monthly, Quarterly etc list that gives your recommendations for boots at the various price points available at the time of your recording? Something from base entry level price point up through elite level boots? Maybe more focused on the performance and comfort as opposed to a wider focus that would put as much emphasis on looks as it does performance?

Tech Craft Vapors are very different from the standard ones. The Veloce DF is definitely not better than a regular Vapor, I can assure you of that. The difference between a thin synthetic and a leather boot isn't a matter of one being better or worse, that's purely a matter of preference. I don't think the Veloce 3 DF is a bad shoe, but if you're paying anywhere near the full retail price, you have much better options.

I got a pair of Phantom 3 FG lows in Laser orange last week, they are great boots but to be honest I think my Phantom3 DFs that I have for AG are actually more comfortable around the heal area, I was also expecting the lows to be much easier to get on but the lows are marginally easier at best :(. As far as the weight goes, with the DF's I don't need to wear my ankle protectors but I will be wearing them with the low cut for sure, so add the weight of them to the low cuts and there is very little difference, if the price was the same I'd choose the DF, both great boots. I agree about Adidas take downs, tried various Ace and X point 2s and point 3s on myself and my kids over the last couple of years and have been quite disappointed with the fit and feel, especially in the heal area and lack of lock down compared to the point one models.

I know you are not overly impressed with many high cut models, but I would still enjoy your Top/Bottom 5 mid cuts that should be low cuts or vice versa.

great video, i wear the adidas ace 17.2 and i find them to be perfect for my foot. i got my pair for $85 and they felt no different from the 17.1 pair that i tried on and that pair sells for $140.

In my experience, the victory 6 df was a very comfortable shoe for me. Mabye its your foot shape and width that made them uncomfortable

One reason I may buy the glitch is in countries it's a wet muddy pitch one match and the next a dry one. So even though it's a worse product you still get a professional level boot in two stud configurations for the price of one

Daniel R. Anderson so if the weather is as i stated you will probably have to buy two pairs of boots. One FG and one SG. If you want them to be top end then that will cost you around $600. So I'm saying you get an one FG and one SG outer skin for $300 and it is a top end boot

Man I could've told you that about the ACE 17.3. Wore them for a month straight and was still getting blisters. :p also wouldn't recommend the ACE 17+ Black out pack edition, too small on my feet(I have some what wide feet). But a lot of pressure on the big toe. Painful pressure. Ended up getting the X 17+. Most comfortable cleats I've worn in my entire life. With 0 break time.

So I’ve always used low cut adidas, Nike and puma boots. Never had a mid. But surely the DF models give you security around the ankle and also gives better comfort. I’ve never used a DF model so if someone could tell me that would be great as I can’t decide between the two Phantom 3s

How could a thin layer material, imagine a sock, wrapped around your ankle, potentially very loosely depending on the shape and size of your ankle, provide ankle support? If you wear low-cut socks, do you feel like you have less ankle support than when you're wearing full length socks?

I have the nemeziz 17.3, and they were horrible the first time I put them on. The top of my foot literally stuck out through the lases. I'm still trying to break them in, but I wouldn't recommend going to practice or games in these cleats until they are fully broke in. That really applies to any new shoe, but these just fit so weird 😂
