You spent more time showing ads than being honest about this monitor. You didn't even bother to point out that it has other advantages over the Samsung and LG with the smart KVM, which is the main reason I bought it. And the better anti burn in features. What about the single USB C connection for everything (audio, video, power, and USB hub)? Plus, it's just better looking than any of those. And thinner with a better stand. And don't forget the quality control lottery you get with Samsung.

@TheMadskater360 Yes. Both. The only downsides are that the Mac makes the aspect ratio on the laptop screen the same as the monitor, and the Mac won't hit the max resolution.

I can't even describe how much I hate those V-shaped stands. Its like 99% of the way to how much I hate matte finish, only not quite there because I can get a VESA mount if I have to.

Yep and from what I'm hearing, this is the same panel as the 240 refresh rate versions just slowed down to keep it cooler. Mist if us can't get 240 frame rate on this many pixels anyway. Be nice if we could overdrive it.

For someone who called his channel "The Display Guy" I gotta say you're talking out your ass. Refresh rate and Frame rate are separate things. Linked, sure but still not the same. The refresh rate is how many times per second the display is capable of displaying a new frame, while the frame rate is how many times per second your GPU can provide a new frame. Just because a display advertises a certain refresh rate, whether that be 144Hz or 240Hz, it doesn't mean you are guaranteed to get those Frame rates. To make use of a 240Hz display your GPU has to provide 240 unique frames to the display per second in order for it to display a new frame every time it refreshes. Good luck getting a steady 240 FPS on anything but the beefiest and most expensive GPU/CPU combo and even then you might find yourself needing to tune down your graphics settings in most newer AAA titles. Enough said.

144Hz vs 240Hz, are you really going to notice the difference compared to the amount of money you need to spend on a higher end graphics card and all that goes with it (Power supply and CPU), the ASUS OLED is amazing at 144Hz with the detail and blacks, best thing is, you can get away with running a 3080 RTX and i7 at high or mostly ultra settings within most current games, try pushing out 240Hz at the same quality settings! Really wish these reviewers compared the total system required to run higher end gear instead of saying "ohh 240Hz is so much better".. Yeah if you spend $4k on the rest of your gear it is, if you don't upgrade everything else you are will be very disappointed. Sure you will have a greater refresh rate but running at lower graphic settings - so your image and immersion quality will be much less and you will be very VERY disappointed (unless you spend an extra few $k.

Dang I actually love the KVM on the rog vs the Samsung one… anyone have an idea of which monitor has KVM, has QD-OLED, curved, 45-49”, has burn-in preventative tech, usb-C PD port for MacBook, high refresh, and optimal for 8 hour coding and then gaming at night situations? Really long list of things but this ROG almost checked everything off except the high refresh and the burn-in preventative

Finally someone that still has some braincells left. Having by far the highest brightness monitor with the same panel as others use and not having a burn in warranty is like trying to sell you a car with 5 bar boost pressure instead of the usual 2 bar on the very same engine that you know will blow up after the first few pulls. I'm sorry but you'd have to be actually stupid to buy the Asus or you really don't care if it will burn in 2-3 times faster if not even quicker and having wasted your money without being able to get a replacement.

@@colton9841 Tell me more. I have 2 different Asus monitors with the infamous no signal issue. Now I'm going out of my way to not buy Asus even if the other options are worse on paper. At least I hope they know how to have the most basic thing possible on a monitor work which is detecting a fu**ing input signal in the first place (no it's not the cable or port or just an exception, it's a common problem with Asus monitors).

Samsung unveiled 3 new QD OLED monitors ahead of CES and they all seem to have anti glare. It's good to have options but I'd be really disappointed if they roll back on having a nice glossy finish at least as an option. Probably had too many people complaining about it not having a matte finish and I doubt they'll be bothered to make 2 versions, really hope I'm wrong.

I'm am extremely happy with this display. I don't play esports crap, so 144hz is just fine with me. I had so many problems with Samsung displays, that I don't even care if they make one with 5 billion hz.

Idk why I keep buying Samsung. Just bought 2 g9 49” one Smart and other was regular. The smart one would not connect to my pc outta the box. Now I have a tech coming out next week. Such a pain!!!! The tech said if you hot plug the ports the monitor will shut off display ports and only thing to fix it Is to replace the input board. Says he does about 5 a week. Simple fix. But common. I figured a monitor that I paid 1,200 for it would allow hot plugging. Guess I was wrong.

I'd say it should be at LEAST $300 less than the Samsung version. 144hz to 240hz is a massive difference. I wouldn't even consider 144hz. I'm on the AW3423DWF and it's not enough imo coming from 240hz IPS. I've adjusted to it but I def wish I waited for a 240hz glossy 16:9 or a 240hz 21:9 ultrawide. Now that I'm adjusting tho I'm sure I'll be fine. Glorious monitor for sure.

my 4090 can't push +45fps in cyberpunk at 4k ultra, stop being idiot, 144hz is more than enough, and the gsync compatible range for ASUS is 48-144hz, samsung is 60-240hz, useless...if I want to play at 360hz 1440p I have ASUS pg27aqn, it's all.

144hz is where my eyes dont see any noticable difference to above refreshrates. my 2 odyssey g9s had issues and went dark suddenly, the neo every time i used a browser... now i wanna try something other than samsung. imho 144 should be fairly suffficient, considering even my 4090 oc does not reach that on 5120x1440 in cyberpunk. too bad blizzard destroyed overwatch for me, that might have been the game i could enjoy high framerates.

What make me hesitate to take a G93sc (or G9) is that it's 1800R and 1440p (really low ppi). The 1800r make me think it would be way too flat for gaming, wouldn't 1000r be better ? I fear it would. 1440p is something i already have but on a 49" monitor ? + Oled ? Feel like i will have a hard time reading text on it, no ?

That’s not how resolution works. If you have a 27” 16:9 1440p monitor then the resolution is 2560x1440. If you have a 49” 32:9 1440p monitor then the resolution is 5120x1440. They both have a ppi of 109.

for a channel called "the display guy" you really are leaving out a lot of the key differences between these monitors. The refresh rate may be lower but these are meant for gaming. If you can get more than 140 fps at max settings on current gen games at these monitor specs then I would like to see where on earth your pc came from. Also the smart kvm is leaps and bounds better tech than what samsung is offering. With the Asus monitor you can get 3 separate connections going thanks to that powered usb C port. I clicked your video to see why I shouldn't buy this monitor but honestly I'm leaving unimpressed with your channel more than anything else. Also could you please pronounce Asus correctly?

Hopefully the OLED G9 can actually do 1000 nits. My AW3423DW is way better than my brothers Samsung G8 OLED since mine will do 1000 nits and his is stuck at 400 nits without a service remote.

I keep seeing this thing about people begging for their oleds to hit 1000 nits but there is not a single oled display that hits 1000 nits full screen. It’s always in like a 5 or 10 percent window. And on a larger display that’s even harder to do. OLEDs don’t need 1000 nits. HDR 400 true black on an oled is comparable image quality and hdr performance to somewhere inbetween hdr 1400 and hdr 1600 on an LCD that is capable of hitting 1000+nit flashes. Provided you’re not trying to view the TV in bright light (like for real just get black out curtains) I don’t see the issue. I literally play on an HDR400 LCD which isn’t even hdr so I play in SDR which is like 500nits full screen. That is quite bright to my eyes and I don’t even feel like I am lacking out on much when I play games. Only when I’m watching dark movies that benefit from true hdr will I go and watch on my mini LED TV.

What are you talking about? The dell hits 1050 nits at 2% window while the G8 hits 985 nits. The difference is irrelevant. Values are taken from the Rtings tests. For real scenes it’s 372 vs 447 nits, which is probably noticeable but given that the G8 costs 500€ less it’s probably acceptable. This is only for HDR though. SDR brightness is the same.

@@Enaxorize just Google it. If you want the g8 to do 1000 nits over dp in hgig mode which is necessary to tune a lot of HDR content in Windows 11 it requires a service remote. I've read that it'll do it over HDMI but he doesn't have a micro HDMI 2.1 cable to test it.
