I knew when married last time that would be it if didn't work and we were together 17 1/2 yrs . Then divorced but still helped each other .I was his caretaker last 21 months of his life , when not in hospital but still fought but I wouldn't not help him . He helped me some also. But never again. Rather be alone .with dogs!!!

Absolutely agree. Have been alone since the birth of my daughter who is turning 17 this year. Better than being in a toxic relationship which slowly destroys who you are. Luke, you have given me so much more confidence in myself. My boys & I are suffering from CPTSD caused by being married to a covert narcissistic abusive man. It took me 21 miserable yrs to get rid of him & it was the best decision I've made for my boys & myself. We are finally starting to recover & we are getting on our feet & are now working on becoming happy. We have no contact with this monster so thank God for that. Never been afraid of being alone. My problem was I was going thru something else on top of being recently divorced & instead of just staying single like I wanted, due to the other issue's I fell for his prince charming BS & had told myself that if I ever got to the point of marriage with someone again, I'd do everything I could to make it work. Despite the red flags, I tried & tried. Despite our issue's he was a good day, so I couldn't be selfish. I tried & until about 7 yrs ago., still married but we're just roommates basically, I have some physical health issue's so I can't go back to the work force (there's not a job out there that I can do, that the boss will let me sit for a half hr or so throughout the day, so I take care of the property/home/kid's for now. But I'd chose single life (which doesn't equal loneliness) over lies, adultery, manipulation any day. 😊
