Went to my first local the other day and I kinda gain a new admiration for Pro players. It’s different being in that room lol Missed 4-5 oki and wall confirms and ended up giving up a comeback to get knocked out of losers round 2 😭 Fumbling happens to the worst and best of us. Salute to you Phi and keep grinding 🫡

When people say it’s different in the brackets and the big stage, IT’S DIFFERENT. People need to give it a shot honestly if they’re getting into the FGC, it’s an entirely different and exhilarating experience.

I think especially what you said at the end is pretty actionable advice - during a match or inbetween rounds I feel it's hard to get into the details, so doing a sort of "rough" or very basic analysis might be more helpful. Something along the lines of What am I dying to? > Stop mashing/stop dashing/etc... & What is working? > Keep doing that.
@ImaginaryMan897 ай бұрын
Very cool analysis. I like listening to how you are looking at both the match and your opponent as it progresses. Great Stuff!

5:32 tell me if i’m wrong but i would assume having expectations for yourself will always turn out worse than if you had zero expectations love the videos
@PhiDX7 ай бұрын
100% correct.
@Bloodstar-o77 ай бұрын
That's true for the most part. But I think it's more complicated. Psychologically speaking, putting too much pressure on yourself to perform well will cause stress and anxiety that may distract you and cause you to perform worse. Having no expectations could work, but if you become too relaxed, you run the risk of underperforming because you aren't focusing. A little bit of adrenaline can be a good thing. High performing athletes, like Olympians, often talk about being in the "zone." Finding the right amount of focus where you are locked in and actively playing but not overthinking or becoming too stressed is difficult.
@Kenkyou_Nogata7 ай бұрын
Damn straight. There are a lot more losses going in wanting to win. When it fumbles. You panic and when the panik but your opponent punishes you. You lose face. But go in with the, "Let me download this player mindset." You find more success even when I lose, there's a, "Oh damn, that was final?" Instead of a, "That damned step hopkick!!!" You realise the talent or skill of the player instead of, "He uses Feng! Of course!"
@Courtesyyy7 ай бұрын
i feel like fumbling is okay, but the way you talk about having confidents and playing stings really helped you, keep on the grind mate! Its inpsiring 😊

A main character Lili advice would be that in situations like 14:45 after the hopkick hit the springkick (hitting/floating with uf3) you can usually always pick up with a dickjab

I loved watching this from a Shaheen main point of view tbh. I learnt a lot on Lili's weaknesses too there
@musicaplays80317 ай бұрын
In T8, there’s only 3 slide characters. All of them have a +on block knockdown mid. Lee: Wr 3,4 Law: Wr 3 Shaheen: Wr 2 For anybody struggling with the Shaheen matchup: Each can be sidestepped, Shaheen doesn’t have any plus on block moves that the other slide characters don’t have. They all have a safe df2 as well, Shaheen’s however, can beat some highs (just like Lee). In general, anytime Shaheen goes into SNK on block, you can interrupt with a down jab if your opponent is committing to pressing buttons in SNK on block. For the most part, you’ll be fighting against the player rather than the character when it comes to Shaheen - a Shaheen main

f4 is nasty too but thx for the info
@musicaplays80317 ай бұрын
@@PhiDX yeah f4, and df3 are really good homing options that Shaheen has access to, f4 suffers from range issues. With Lili, if you notice that your opponent is using these moves a lot, you can play at range 2-3 and use cartwheel as an approach tool. This will also help deal with any Shaheen who likes to crouch dash at this range. This comes with its own risks as an adept player will pick up on this and attempt to float you or sidestep. Lili can be very strong in this matchup when utilizing her long range tools against Shaheen. Hope this helps. Edit: realized I’m replying to PhiDx. My advice still stands but I’m sure you’ll have your own tools for this matchup
@amirhossein18177 ай бұрын
Slides track tho, don't they? Side stepping doesn't really option select anything. You need a hard read on their running move
@musicaplays80317 ай бұрын
@@amirhossein1817 no, this is false. Crouch dash will realign a slide to a sidestepping opponent, but you can sidestep a slide. Characters like Yoshi and Jack with bad sidestep hitboxes may need to sidewalk
@mccollio09097 ай бұрын
It depends on the speed of the player sliding. A slow side input will realign yes. A buffered slide/ perfect input slide probably whiffs

Crazy how the meta evolves and reverts at different levels. Lower play, mashing can be difficult to deal with. Higher play, mashing is punished, so pausing is critical. Really high play, hesitation can be punished, but don't always mash.

Why don't you use 3+4 in the long range? When you have a rival using a lot of movement trying to stay at the edge of the screen, you can use 3+4. If they try to correct their position and press buttons they will pay the price.
