I got my moss balls about a year before this hit and I've had them for 4 years now and I guess i got lucky because I never had any hitchhikers in my tank.😊

There is another option !! recommended by our government officials here in Canada I work at a retail store We did not see any muscles in the moss balls we had which were last in stock in January way before they were reported in moss balls High grade water softening salt with potassium chloride of at least 98% pure for 14 days at the right grams per gallon Is what we had to due by there recommendations or destroying all the plants in the system and sterile it We did the first option and plants did good with it. No real losses or major damage to the plants. Fish in the system were fine Which had hatchet fish, red tail gara and some livebearers The amount of crystals required (for our 200 gallon system) to a 5 gallon pail to dissolve it Salinity was only .004 then added to the 200 gallon system So the actual salt content by then was very minimal As it’s the potassium that does the work There is data that proves it kills zebra mussels

Just don’t do water changes down the drain. Use it for outdoor or indoor plants for 6 months.

Im new to bettas and tanks in general. This is my 1st betta and aquarium and I was looking through videos for cool plants to add to my aquarium then I found this video. Can someone please explain to a newbie what the heck is going on. I was really interested in purchasing some of these moss balls only because they look cool but is it now dangerous in some way? Any recommendations on which plants to purchase and from where? Thank you!

In the quarantine section they didn't provide information on what to do with water and detritus when you do water changes. Common sense dictates not pouring it down the drain but unfortunately common sense isn't that common any more.

Ya so they talk about draining down the sink only with water thats bleached as if you are following the decontamination step. If you are doing the monitoring steps, i think you are supposed to not have fish in the tank so you wont have to do water changes any way.. it could be explained better prolly, im sure if you are doing wc into your lawn youre fine tho...
