Aftermarket foams make a huge difference! Nice vid

Top video! I find most foams that come with tyres are super soft. Even the TRX-4 Sport is heavier than most rigs out the box, for my heavy trail rig I use dual stage foams to stop this problem.

Foams make a world of difference, I run the proline dual stage foams all around on my TRX4. My rig is a little shy of 10 pounds. Heavy rig a lot brass up front with weighted wheels. Crawls very good.

Having no resistance in your tire is an issue but if you get a heavy vehicle having your tire conform more with dual stage foams allows a larger contact patch thus more friction on whatever surface or slope. It also helps with surface conformity so if your on a sandstone hill for instance that has a ton of tiny grooves or small jutting points a softer foam and more tire contact make a ton of difference. That said theres a Goldilocks zone you wanna hit because if your tire collapses too much if effects side hilling and vertical climbing if your rear tires/side tires are completely flat under heavy stress

@surfside755 ай бұрын
Not sure about the guy you met, but I added all chassis alloy, f/r bumpers raised/tucked, 2.2 beadlocks w/mudslingers, long arm kit, 120mm shocks, axles and all brass down below -except those cheesy bolt on and wheel weights🤮. Absolutely zero issues so far, except when it does decide to roll and on a steep hill GRAB IT!! Very very heavy 😅. Made my trx4 unstoppable on the trail and creek's though. Tire foams that are the right size and density (med+) are crucial. Tuning with good shocks like desert lizard is also so important. Love my first trx4 build💟 will not be my last.

Good video, I run INJORD Brand Inserts Green- on 7 pound and down weight crawlers and run the blue inserts on 8-pound crawlers and up and don't get any tire roll like in the video that's almost always caused from inserts to soft.

An interesting video, thank you! I'm just getting into RC crawling, with a cheap and cheerful FTX Mauler. I had thought about adding zinc weights (that you'd use for balancing full size car wheels) into the wheel rims on the Mauler (I upgraded to Alloy beadlocks), but then that would add extra stress onto the drive train, particularly the drive shafts and gearing... I already stripped the plastic diff lock spools on the Mauler after a few weeks, eventually replacing them with alloy ones from Aliexpress. I am experimenting with 50g of weights gorilla taped to the front axle housing, however after watching this video, I'm not entirely sure that is actually helping my crawler perform better!
@borisworx91993 жыл бұрын
Hi FTX Mauler is a good Crawler, when upgrading every little bit helps, even if its just 5% improvement. Try unsprung weight with sprung weight, and changing to 10 weight shock oil. Let me know what happens
@briansrcadventures13162 жыл бұрын
@@borisworx9199 The 50g of weight on the front axle housing helped a lot, as well as upgrading to 2.2" Proline Hyrax. At the moment no more upgrades for the Mauler, as I'm now building up a TRX4 Sport kit :-)

Nobody puts weight ontop of the car, you put it as low down as you can to lower the center of gravity. If you manage to put the weight where it belongs, aka in the wheel hubs, you have huge benefits. Also, running without wheel foams make you look silly when you try to prove a point.

Wish I could go back to when I first got my TRX4 2021 Bronco. Before I even ran it I spent a LOT of money going for scale. Heavy metal front & rear bumper, roof rack, alloy wheels, interior, light kit.. It was HEAVY and flipped easily. 14MM wideners now the front tires rub. Truck sags and even the rear rub. Took off the roof rack, stock width... Truck was fine stock and seems people just like when the delivery truck arrives with shiny/fresh aluminum "upgrades."

Gravity is always pulling ⬇️. As your model tilts up, gravity is still pulling down. Weight, positioning low or high toward CG becomes less relevant the steeper the 📐. The stickier the tire helps, but it’s going to flip. On the TRX4, weight hanging on the front of the center frame is all that’s needed. For fun, what’s the max angle your model will climb on particle board? Mine is 52°-53°. 54 it flips. I can provide video.

its not about simply putting more weight ... its about putting it at the right place !! and lower the center of gravity ... in certain cases ... some driver would prefer a better scale feeling .. to keep the realism .. me .. i have a defender , im putting 900 grams diff to compensate the weight of the cherokee harbody on my truck .. nooo its not a competition truck , but its built more for a scale .. so i have the right tire rigidity to match the weight too .

He should've sealed the holes inside the rim of the wheels,water gets in and ruins the sponge in the tires👍👍
