I think that (sometimes) when people say for hair growth, they mean that it will make it get longer faster, because your hair needs to get cut less and break less because its stronger

Exacly, the same goes for people who claim that oils can "repair" hair; damaged hair can't be repaired but these oils will coat the hair shaft to prevent breakage

I'm strict water only with my hair care. I don't comb or brush it either, just finger detangle. So I find I only need a trim two or three times a year. So I retain at least 5 inches of new growth per year.

I know i'm late on this one, but what you said about brazilian keratin "treatments" is so true. About a year ago, i had extremely damaged hair from bleaching and i came accross all this brazilian keratin craze. I went to a hairdresser, who basically lied to me and told me that brazilian keratin treatment would not only straighten my hair, but it would also "repair" the damage. I was so excited and jumped right into the salon to do it. What the "treatment" basically did was to s e m i - p e r m a n e n t l y make my hair have this celebrity-type straight shiny appearance. I was so happy and thought that my hair was "repaired"! And oh, girl... After about ten washes my hair was back to curly and it was next-level damaged at that point. I literally looked like an 80-year-old lady. And of course, i had to cut it. The most jaw-dropping part is that this whole treatment cost about 110 euros (about 130 USD) plus another 100 euros for the expensive sulfate-free shampoos that i had to use afterwards (which were the only beneficial thing for my hair out of this whole thing). And in my country, 200+ euros is almost half a monthly salary, that i basically paid to destroy my hair!
@butterflyqueen26003 жыл бұрын
Omg! I’m sorry you had to go through that nightmare!! That is literally one of my fears with hairdressers, because we basically putting our trust in them to know what they’re doing with our hair and if they‘re bad it’s our problem since we wear our hair everyday
@misselle18853 жыл бұрын
@@butterflyqueen2600 Exactly! And the same goes for commercial hair products... Going natural, which I am trying to do now, is probably the best solution for growing long healthy hair.

Kayley Melissa did a video where she looked up all of the ingredients of rice water (that most yao women left available it being such an old practice in the region i kept on through word of mouth and experimentation so every single family has their own recipe) and some studies show that rice when applied topically might lengthen the duration of the anagen phase and fo-ti( an ingredient most people don't mention that seems to be common in chinese medicine) is said to induce a new anagen phase it is meant to be made with clean spring water and left for fermentation for weeks (seems to depend on a lot pf factors) so if the pH is off i would assume it might be too acidic rather than alkaline
@SarahIngleOfficial4 жыл бұрын
Rice water can coat hair in a thin film that may protect it from stuff like UV rays or make it look shinier. Kinda like silicones & many things that can coat hair, so it’s not quite as magical as people make it sound. A lot of the stuff about it growing hair I believe is unsubstantiated. People like to quote studies about rice bran ash or mineral extract, which isn’t even in rice water. They’re extracting minerals out of the ash after incinerating the bran layer of rice during the rice milling process. I also don’t believe any of those studies were done on humans.
@TheGabygael4 жыл бұрын
@@SarahIngleOfficial thank you for replying to my comment, it's very enlightening There is also the issue that most studies done on inositol (main active ingredient marketed to promote hair health) were funded by companies who used said studies to promote their inositol based products (lack of other sources to *further* or *refute* those claims mean that I find it extremely tricky to know what to think ) your videos help me avoid most risks while trying stuff (mainly poor pH balance) and tbh i'm low key obsessed with trichology

It's not always bad. The question is if your hair needs protein or to be hydrated. If your hair is soft and shiny after having used the oil it's fine. If you feel like it gets even more dry and breaks it probably needs moisture like aloe vera. Just try whats best for your hair ❤️

So these tips seem like for the 2A type wavies. If you over-moisturize that hair type, it's probably prone to falling more straight than it would otherwise. I'm more of a 2C-ish type. Back in the day, I actually tried that hair straightening technique. It _kind of_ worked. With my hair type, it does not equate the look with a hot iron. I'm telling you that right now. It's more like a blow out, but less uniform. While it destroyed my spirals, it didn't straighten my hair either. I need to cut my hair off. I've dyed my hair with so much henna, cassia, and indigo, my hair's texture is pretty chaotic. I miss my natural hair. And it's fluke remedies like this which make it even more difficult for me to go back to my natural hair in the first place!
