I agree that you should enjoy your first playthrough and play what you want. You only get that experience once. The game will become super meta, 100% efficiency focused in no time. When a game like POE drops and the community is learning together, it's such a cool experience.

Amen. The beauty of POE is depth and possibilities of builds. the tree might seem intimidating until you realize there is a search function. If youre playing a cold damage dagger build, search cold damage, and then search dagger. then get all the good stuff around those nodes that benefit your build.

You are making a great point. Throne and Liberty has been released globally for only about two months and these people are kicking each other for being caught off guard by the mechanics of the assorted boss battles. They preach constantly for people to search a KZbin video prior to even playing a boss. How about enjoy the game and learn for yourself. People are all so hyper focused on the endgame that they'll likely overlook and never appreciate everything that happens in the rest of the game.

yeah man, I get why some content creators have to make guides, but I don't like it for games that isn't event out yet. I always avoid those spoiler/guide videos until I have specific things that I'm having trouble understanding. Game like PoE is so much better making your own build than just simply copying others for sure. The best part about this game is the challenge of making build with what you get through the journey. Even for the PoE 1, I've only watched videos about vendor recipes, how stats works and crafting guides. Those were kind of needed to watch because game wont tell you how it works, especially the vendor recipes. I wonder we will actually get vendor recipes in-game for PoE2.

I would say that in D4 you actually need a build guide. It is the only way that you won't waste time trying to make work something that doesn't because the tooltip is simply lying. In D4 nothing ''works as intentded'', so we had to look for guides to know which bugs were needed in order to start dealing damage. I know PoE 2 won't be bug free, but stuff simply seems to work over there. I really hate this long wait, man. I actually NEED this game in my life since I have no social life at all :' )

i dont watch build guides i like to test stuff & find the stuff that's fun for me + im a modr i like to help the devs with bugs and feedback + build guides NOT fun for me i enjoy building my house my way .. but i do watch what the class rundowns so i can get a feel for what i want to test first

It’s not only about the guides are accurate or not. If a game is good, it’ll let you discover your own build and if you have 85 or above IQ, you can come up with a decent build on your own after a try/fail process. Following a build guide blindly is not fun at all.

PoE1 is overly complex and for the most part now unless you have thousands of hours sunk into it, playing a build from a guide is probably for the best if all you want to do is race to endgame and get bored fast. If you watched preach's run through of poe1 he died to izaro so many times but loved it, he loved the challenge and it was fun to watch. As a sidenote watch the video Jousis released today to see how complex the interactions are that even GGG can't keep track of them all, expect the same in poe2.

Im a big proponent of not using build guides for your first play through of both POE. Just go in and make mistakes and have fun. Theorycraft later. Even more so for POE2 because we don't really know anything yet.

Also: There are LOTS of FAKE build videos for POE 1. Lots of youtube POE one vids showcasing builds that cost 20K chaos orbs or 200 divines... Not possible for 98 % of players , so watch out !

While you are right, better to play the first time figuring the game out yourself. There is one other aspect i can point out. When POE beta (1, not 2) came out, many persons started playing that game because they saw Kripp playing it and making crazy builds. POE got popular in the beginning just because people saw what crazy things was possible thanks to Kripp.

Most of the fun comes from experimenting with the game and its systems… I understand contet creators have to make a living, but watching build guides and class description videos about a game which has not come out yet…just sucks out all the fun out of it immediatley. Saw someone complaing that the Merc doesnt fell powerfull in the first 60 mins of the game… 😂 thats when I decided to stop watching content like that.

GGG wants hardcore fans to enjoy that way, if they didn't want an on ramp for casual gamers then they wouldn't have made it more accessible in the first place.
